Pauline S. BECK, 80, of 2315 Highland Ave., Huntingdon, died at 8:50 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2002, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. She had been in declining health since April. Born November 14, 1921, in Mill Creek, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Ruby (Speck) Sims. She was married to Dr. Robert H. Beck at the Fifteenth Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon, November 2, 1969, by the Rev.Rayvon Hilliard. Dr. Beck preceded her in death October 12, 2001. She is survived by a stepdaughter, Patricia Beck of Huntingdon, and one sister, Margaret (Sims) Crownover of York. A step-daughter, Susanna (Beck) Greenleaf; one sister, Lena (Sims) Powell; and three brothers, Paul Sims, and Harry and Kenneth Sims preceded her in death. Mrs. Beck was a member of Fifteenth Street United Methodist Church. She attended Huntingdon public schools and graduated from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1939. She received her RN from the Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. Following graduation in 1943, she moved to Washington, D.C., and worked as an RN at a local hospital for a number of years before returning to Huntingdon. Upon her return, she worked as a private duty nurse in the Huntingdon area. In 1954, she began her employment at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital from where she retired in 1970, having held the position of Director of Nurses. Following her retirement, she worked at Dr. Robert H. Beck's office in Huntingdon as receptionist until 1984. Mrs. Beck was an active member of the Children's Services Advisory Board in Huntingdon. An Avid bridge player and dog lover, she also enjoyed reading and for many years, enjoyed an annual fishing trip to Canada with her husband. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home Inc., 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. David L. Dearing officiating. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon.
