LeVerne H. ANDERSON, 85, of Mapleton, R.R. 1, died Thursday, July 4,
2002, at his residence. His death was unexpected. Born July 1, 1917, in
Mapleton, he was the son of Robert and Viola (Buchanan) Anderson, both
deceased. He was united in marriage to Larie C. Brodbeck June 15, 1936,
in Cumberland, Md. Mrs. Anderson preceded him in death March 20, 1995.
He is survived by one son, Barry L. Anderson of Audubon, two
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister,
Donald G. Anderson, Geraldine Speck and Bobby L. Anderson, all of
Mapleton, survive. He was preceded in death by one bother, Marcus
Anderson. Mr. Anderson was a member of the Bowman's Chapel United
Methodist Church, Mapleton, R.R.1, where he was chairman of the Trustees
and served as Sunday School superintendent and teacher. He was also
active on the pastor-parish relations committee and was involved in all
church activities. He was a member of the National Rifle Association,
American Association of Retired Persons, the Raystown Stripers Club and
the Bassmasters Association. He retired in 1978, from the Pennsylvania
Glass Sand Works in Mapleton, now U.S. Silica. He was employed at the
sand works for over 40 years and, at the time of his retirement, was a
crane operator. He enjoyed participating in many sports and was an avid
hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoying hunting turkey. Funeral
services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 8, at the Robert D. Heath
Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Ed Seeley officiating.
Interment will be made in the IOOF Cemetery, Mapleton.
