Mae E. AYERS, 84, of Huntingdon Manor, Warm Springs Avenue, Huntingdon,
formerly of West Twp., Petersburg, died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 28,
2002, at the Manor. She had resided at the Manor for the past year. Born
June 29, 1918, at the family home in West Twp., Petersburg, she was a
daughter of the late Plummer J. and Marie (Keller) Port. She was united
in marriage to C. Earl Ayers Dec. 24, 1936, in McConnellstown, by W.
Ronald Yocum B.D. Mr. Ayers preceded her in death Dec. 17, 1994. She is
survived by one son and one daughter: Earl P. Ayers and Shirley M.
Wagner, both of Petersburg. She is also survived by five grandchildren
and six great-grandchildren. Two sisters survive: Mildred Brown,
Huntingdon, and Mrs. Dean (Edith Poe) Yocum, Petersburg. She was
preceded in death by an infant brother. Mrs. Ayers was a member of Faith
(formerly Manor Hill) United Methodist Church, Huntingdon, where she had
been a member of the Do For Others Sunday School Class. She attended
public schools in West Twp. and was a lifetime resident of that twp.
After 27 years of service with Owens Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon, she
retired from the winding department. Mrs. Ayers was an avid hunter and
in her younger years, even bagged a few large eight-point bucks. Private
funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 1, at the Cutright-Speck
Funeral Home, Juniata Valley Chapel, Alexandria, with Pastor Joleen
Willis officiating. Interment will be made in Mooresville Cemetery, West
Twp., Petersburg.
