Charles L. "Pete" BEATTY, 84, of 3403 Pennington Road, Warriors Mark
Twp. Huntingdon County, died Wed., Dec. 3. 2003, at his residence. Born
in Petersburg, he was the son of Charles H. and Arwin K. (Henderson)
Beatty. She was united in marriage to Audrey J. Getz. He is survived by
his wife in Tyrone; two daughters; Debra E. Tuskovich, and her husband,
Randy, of Sinking Valley and Barbara A. Desch, and her husband, Michael,
of Tyrone; five grandchildren; Shawn, Bradley and Jason Tuskovich, and
Michael and Brooke Desch; and one great-grandson, Zachary Tuskovich.
Three brothers, Kenneth Beatty af Naugatuck, Conn., and Cecil S. Beatty
and Leroy Beatty, both of Petersburg, survive, as well as many nieces
and nephews and special neighbors, Dick and Pat Campbell. He was
preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine, and three brothers, James,
Theodore and Alfred. Mr. Beatty was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II,
serving as a tech sergeant with Company B, 773rd TD Battalion in France
and Germany. He served in the Third Army under Gen. George Patton and
was awarded four bronze stars. He retired in 1973 on disability from
Westvaco, Tyrone, as a fork truck operator following 25 years of
service. He had been a farmer earlier in life and also had been employed
as a brakeman for the PA. Railroad. He enjoyed cooking and baking.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Crever
Memorial United Methodist Church, Petersburg, with Pastor Ray Willis
officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Petersburg.
