William Cope Beecher
William Cope Beecher, a son of J. Franklin Beecher, of this city, died at the
Coatesville Hosptal, shortly after 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Mr. Beecher
was in his 41st year. He had been ill from a cancerous infection of the
stomach for several months. A few days ago he was admitted to the hospital,
where an operation was performed. His condition at once grew alarming, and he
knew no one thereafter. His wife died about two years ago. A son, Orville W.
Beecher, eight years old, and a sister, Mrs. Thomas Walker, with his father,
and a brother, Walter, all of this city, survive. The body was taken to the
home of his brother-in-law, Mr. Walker, from where the funeral will be held.
The most kindly word that can be uttered is none too kind for the young man,
who was an exemplary citizen and a devoted father, well liked by all who knew
him.
