James Anderson, a well-known farmer and a descendant of Captain Patrick 
Anderson of Revolutionary fame, died at on o'clock yesterday morning at his new 
home in Schuylkill Township, of Bright's disease and complications.  He was 65 
years of age on June 9th.  James Anderson was a son of Joseph and Rebecca 
Workhizer Anderson, deceased, and was born on the old homestead farm in 
Schuylkill Township, on June 9th, 1850.  Mr. Anderson was a descendant of 
Captain Patrick and Elizabeth Anderson and was the first white child that was 
born of European parents in Charlestown Township.  The Anderson's homestead was 
purchased from the grant of land belonging to William Penn and was located in 
Charlestown Township.  The land was sold to a man named Ross and two others and 
the deed called for 7000 acres.  James Anderson father of Capt. Patrick 
Anderson was one of the two others named in the deed.  A log house was built on 
the tract the foundations of which can be seen today and are located near Gen. 
B.F. Fisher's barn at Valley Forge.  The Indians came to the log house to look 
at the e first white child born in this section.  The farm has been in the 
Anderson name for four generations.  Recently James Anderson sold the farm to 
his sister, Miss Sarah P. Anderson, of Second Avenue, Phoenixville.

Mr. Anderson served one term as School Director and was also Treasurer of the 
Board for one year.  About a week ago, he moved to his new home near Corner 
Stores.  He is survived by his widow, Annie P. Anderson, who is a sister of 
I.J. Tustin, and a daughter, Elizabeth Wamsley, wife of Claire Wamsley, of 
Phoenixville.  His brothers and sisters are M.P. Anderson, of Black Rock; E.W. 
Anderson of Phoenixville; Sarah P. Anderson, Caroline Anderson and Dr. D.N. 
Anderson of Florida.
