Ashland Progress
J. M. Bassett was born April 24, 1874, and passed away August 8th, 1947, at the 
age of 73 years. He united with the Baptist church at the age of 21 and remained 
a faithful to the end. He was united in marriage to Miss Elmer Pair.
To this union was born two sons, and two daughters. Funeral services for the 
deceased was conducted by Rev. Stovall of Anniston, with Blair directing. 
Interment was in the cemetery at Spring Hill. He leaves to mourn his departure 
his wife, two sons, and one daughter, four grandchildren and four great 
grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Earlie Bassett, Homer Bassett, Hilbert Bassett, 
Charlie Joe Bassett, Dorsey Bassett, and Claude Bassett.
