Mount Union, Pa.

Miller:  Born in Shirley Township, on a farm, February 20, 1887.  A son of J. 
W. Clark, now residing on a farm in Shirley Township.  He was married to 
Amanda Peterson, who died in June, 1929.  J. A. Clark, after finishing his 
school career, began to learn the milling business and was employed at 
Ewing's Mill at Orbisonia, Pa.  He was there for sixteen years, and at 
Welch's flour mill at Mount Union, which formerly was conducted by the late 
Elmer Ewing.  He has been at Welch's Mill for the last eleven years.  All 
told, a miller for twenty-seven years.  He owns a farm.  Was a miller during 
the World War.  He is a Republican in politics. Has one brother, deceased, 
Laurence P., who died at the age of twenty years.  Two sisters:  Anna, 
married to George Schultthies, located at Long Island, New York, with 
Standard Oil Company as a clerk; Grace, married to C. B. Byers, Shirleysburg, 
Pa., with Tuscarora Oil Company, at Pumping Station, in Shirley Twp.  J. A. 
Clark was married to Annie Hatt; children are:  Kenneth, at home; Roy, a 
Freshman at Mount Union High School; Lester, five years of age.  Daughters 
are Arlene, Cordelia, Dorothy, nine years; Ethel, seven years, and Audria, 
eight months old.

NOTE: The eldest son of J. A. Clark was omitted from this biography, most 
likely because he was married and living in Pittsburgh at the time of its 
publication.  His name was James Leon Clark.  There is also an error in the 
name of the youngest child.  The name should be Audrey, not Audria.  Further
