Physician: Born at Belleville, Pa. He received his early schooling at the same place, where he laid a foundation on which he continued to build by his own unaided efforts, until he acquired a good English education. He taught school in Mifflin County for five years. Attended Millersville State Normal, 1898 to 1900. Was instructor at Iron City Business College, 1905, in Pittsburgh, Pa.; Susquehanna University, 1906; graduated from Jefferson Medical College June 10, 1910. At present engaged in the practice of medicine at Robertsdale, Huntingdon County, Pa. A son of Francis G. Carney, who died in 1913; Irish extraction. His mother was Mary (Baer) Carney, Dutch descent. She died in 1916. Was physician to Health Board, South Fork borough; Trustee Lutheran Church; Sunday School Superintendent for three years. Belongs to Knights of Pythias and P.O.S. of A. Republican in politics. Delights to hunt and fish. Brothers are: W. H. B. Carney, D.D., Ph. D., Hartwick Seminary, New York Sisters: Mrs. D. A. Bupp, Lewistown, Pa.; Mrs. Robert Vaughn, Lewistown, Pa.; Mrs. Margaret Axe, Moultrie, Ohio; Mrs. Ernest Macbeth, Ocean Side, California. He was married June 16, 1910, at Belleville, Mifflin County, Pa., to Mary M. Stricker. Children are: Lois Aileen, fourteen; Albert Stricker, thirteen; Lucille Virginia, eleven, and Mary Bernice, ten. Dr. Carney has had considerable experience in a variety of practice and has been very successful.
