DR. MARSDEN D. CAMPBELL, M.D.
Mapleton Depot, Pa.

Physician:  Born at Belleville, Mifflin County, Pa., August 21, 1880.  At the 
Yoder school near Belleville he commenced his educational career.  A son of 
R. Douglas Campbell, who died in 1916, aged ninety years, and Mary (Marsden) 
Campbell.  She died in 1884, aged thirty-six years.  Dr. Campbell attended 
Reedsville Academy in 1894 and 1895,.  Attended Washington and Jefferson 
College in 1897 and 1898.  Attended Jefferson Medical College in 1899; 
graduated in 1904, receiving the degree of M.D.; spent one year in 
Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, Pa.; started practicing at Plumbville, 
Indiana County, Pa. till 1911.  Began to resume his profession at Belleville, 
till 1917.  During the World War came to Mapleton, till June, 1918.  Entered 
World War as Medical Officer; went to Camp Greenleaf, Georgia; to Camp 
Merritt, New Jersey; across seas with company of Medical Replacement Troops; 
landed at Brest, France; from Brest to Replacement Camp, St. Aignon-Noyers; 
from there assigned with service with British Hospital Group.  Was there 
until December, 1918; assigned to British Prison Camp as Medical Officer for 
prison group in and around St. Sayens, France, remaining there until March 1, 
1919,.  From there to Marseilles, France, Camp Covington, where he served at 
embarkation camp until camp was dismissed July 2, 1919.  Personnel sailed for 
New York, landing on July 16, 1919.  Then returned to Mapleton and resumed 
practice till 1920.  Removed to Loganton, Clinton County, Pa.  Practiced till 
1929, after which he again took up practice at Mapleton, Pa.  At Loganton, 
Pa., he was secretary of the School Board; also a Director and Vice-President 
of the First National Bank, Mapleton, Pa.  Belongs to Masonic fraternity, 
Mount Union, Pa., No. 688; Harrisburg Consistory; I.O.O.F., No. 302, 
Belleville, Pa.; State and County Associations.  Dr. Campbell was married in 
1906 to May A. Nichols, of Scottdale, Pa.; deceased.  Have two daughters:  
Edna May attended the Lock Haven Central State Teachers' College, now in 
training at St. Francis Hospital.  Eleanor also attended Lock Haven Central 
State Teachers' College.  Now at home.  Has two sisters, Florence R. and Edna 
E., both deceased.  Outdoor recreation the Doctor enjoys.
