R. M. BROWN
Franklinville, Huntingdon County, Pa.

Merchant:  R. M. Brown, the subject of this sketch, was born at 
Franklinville, April 3, 1898, of Scotch-Irish descent.  A son of D. C. Brown, 
who was a merchant for nine years, and a woodsman prior to that period.  He 
had charge of the furnaces that were in operation years ago.  His wife was 
Lillie E. Keatley, a daughter of Matthew and Rebecca Keatley, now living at 
Franklinville, Huntingdon County, Pa.  R. M. Brown succeeded his brother, C. 
E. Brown, in the mercantile business.  He took over the business seven years 
ago.  He has been employed at truck driving by the State Highway Department; 
also at the erecting shops, P.R.R., Altoona, Pa.  Has been a school director 
for three years.  Is an Odd Fellow, Allegheny Gateway, Tyrone, Pa.  A 
Republican.  Has three brothers: C. E., married to May Bonsall, County 
Commissioners' Clerk, Huntingdon County, Pa.; Paul E., married to Elizabeth 
Behrer, merchant, Spruce Creek, Pa.  One sister, Lorena, at home.  R. M. 
Brown was married to Daisy P. Dunahay, daughter of John and Emma Dunahay, 
Tyrone, Pa.  She has been the postmaster at Franklinville for the last six 
years, appointed under the Coolidge administration.  Mr. and Mrs. Brown have 
one son, Melvin H., six years of age, at school.  The Browns have long been 
established at this location.  D. C. Brown, the father of R. M. Brown, died 
in 1916, aged fifty-six years.

Note: There is a Raymond Brown, age 1, child in the family of David & Lilly 
Brown, Franklin Township, Huntingdon County, in the 1900 census; Raymond M. 
Brown, age 11, is with the David C. & Lily Brown family, Franklin Township, 
in 1910.
