PAUL E. BROWN
Spruce Creek, Pa.

Merchant:  Born at Franklinville, Huntingdon Co., Pa., on Oct. 22, 1889, 
schooled at Franklinville, son of D. C. Brown, who died 1917.  His mother 
resides at Franklinville, Pa.  He taught school for six terms, one term at 
Sinking Valley and five terms in Franklin township.  Established himself in the 
mercantile business at Spruce Creek in 1920; served in the World War.  Enlisted 
July, 1918, and entrained for Camp Lee; there for six weeks; then to Newport 
News, Va., to Norfolk, Va.; embarked on (Matawaska), arrived at Brest, France; 
seventeen days on water; to La Mons, a classification Camp, to Mayet, to 
machine gun school, to the front at Verdun sector, under fire, then classified 
to Co. A, 21st Machine Gun Battalion, 32nd Division.  Armistice signed at this 
point; went into army of occupation, marched to Luemburg, to Dierdorf, Germany; 
there till embarked for United States; arrived May 25, 1919, Camp Divens, Mass; 
went to Camp Dix for discharge.  Mr. Brown is a member of the Presbyterian 
Church; wife also.  He is a trustee.  Served as inspector and Judge of 
Election, Spruce Creek.  Belongs to Knights of Pythias, 127, Tyrone, Pa.  A 
Republican.  Brothers are: Charles E., Clerk to County Commissioners, 
Huntingdon, Pa.; R. M., a merchant at Franklinville, Pa.; his wife is 
postmistress; O. K. Brown, Spruce Creek.  One sister, Lorena, a student at 
Shippensburg State Normal.  Paul S. Brown was married to Elizabeth Behr, a 
daughter of Charles and Lavina Behr.  Father deceased.  Mother living.  Mr. 
Brown is a representative citizen of good character and well known.
