D. DALE BRANDT
Mount Union, Pa.

Cashier Central National Bank:  The name Brandt recalls a familiar personage, 
the late Joseph A. Brandt, who was usually seen where sales were in progress, as 
a clerk, and a brief citation will not come amiss before entering upon the 
subject of this sketch.  His parents were Daniel and Maria (Kilgore) Brandt, 
both deceased.  Joseph A. Brandt was born in Franklin County, Pa., October 19, 
1859.  He was married January 8, 1885, to Rebecca, daughter of John and Mary 
McAllister.  Both are deceased, died in 1926, four months between deaths.  His 
word was as good as a bond.  He was a School Director, Secretary of School 
Board, was Treasurer of Shirley township, was re-elected, was a farmer for many 
years.  And now as to his son, D. Dale Brandt, who was born in Shirley township, 
Huntingdon County, Pa., November 22, 1893.  At Red Hill School, Shirley 
township, he received his baptism or introduction to a preliminary education.  
He afterwards attended Rock Hill Normal, in its day known far and wide.  He 
taught two years; first year at Little Rock, Huntingdon County, Pa.; second year 
at Sandy Ridge, Huntingdon County, Pa.  Was engaged in business at various 
places; very much a church and Sunday School man.  A member of the Methodist 
Church, Mount Union, Pa.; a Trustee, a Steward, Secretary of the Official Board, 
Secretary Quarterly Conference; at present holds these offices.  Taught in 
Sunday School, Junior Department, and at present is Assistant Superintendent of 
the Sunday School.  He is Treasurer of the School Board and belongs to Knights 
of Pythias, Bellwood, Pa., and the I.O.O.F and Encampment; a Republican by 
virtue of ancestry.  One brother, W.F. Brandt, Germany Valley.  Two sisters, 
Mrs. E.R. Cassady, Mount Union, Pa., and Mrs. J.H. Hall, Spring City, Chester 
County, Pa.  D. Dale Brandt is Cashier of the Central National Bank, which was 
organized on March 13, 1873, with the late T. H. Adams as President; W.T. Bell, 
Cashier in 1879, who served many years.  His sons were schooled in banking in 
this institution.  D. Dale Brandt was for one and a half years its Teller; 
promoted to Cashier July 1, 1923; has been since that time.  This bank ranks 
third largest in the county.  D. Dale Brandt was married to Helen T. Murphy.  
Six sons: Leo, eleven years of age; Dick, nine years; J. Max, six years; Robert, 
four years; Gene, two years, and Charles Bernard, born 1929.  One daughter, 
Marjory, seven years.  D. Dale Brandt resides on Shirley street, in a beautiful 
home.  A useful citizen.
