JOHN N. BOAL
Huntingdon, Pa.

Merchant:  Born in Centre County, Pa., May 15, 1870.  A son of Peter S. Boal, a 
shoemaker by trade, who died in 1922, aged eighty-two years, and of Rebecca 
(Bupp) Boal, who died in 1920, aged eighty years.  For twenty-one years John 
Boal was with the Pennsylvania Industrial Reformatory as chief cook.  
Previously he was a cook at restaurants, hotels at the seashore, and the 
Manufacturers' Club, Philadelphia, Pa.  In 1923 he, associated with his wife, 
engaged in the mercantile business, groceries, meats and provisions, at the 
corner of Sixteenth and Mifflin streets, Huntingdon, Pa., and enjoys a good 
patronage.  Mr. Boal has been assesor of Smithfield Township, Huntingdon 
County, Pa.  The members of the family belong to the Lutheran Church.  He has 
two brothers:  Wiliam E., married to Martha Brennemen, St. Louis, Mo.; and 
George, married to Laurine Faust, Potter's Mills, Centre County, Pa.  Peter S., 
deceased, died at the age of twenty-one years.  Two brothers died in infancy.  
One sister, Catharine, was married to Thomas Boal, Houserville, Centre County, 
Pa.  Two sisters died in infancy.  John N. Boal was married to Mary Florence 
Hawn, a daughter of Samuel Hawn, who died in 1925, and Sarah Hawn, who died in 
1927.  They have three sons:  Herbert, a junior at high school; John, eighth 
grade, and Eldon, seventh grade.  Have three daughters:  Sarah Louise, 
graduated with the Class of 1929, Huntingdon High School; Ruth B., graduated 
wit the Class of 1928, Huntingdon High School, now a student at Juniata 
College.  Richard and Ethel, deceased, were twins; also Chester, deceased.  
Helen I., married July 6, 1929, to William Russell Linn, of Mount Union, Pa.
