J. CLOYD BLACK
Union Township, Huntingdon County, Pa.

J. Cloyd Black was born on a patriotic day, when the youth of the land were 
celebrating the Declaration of Independence, but he was not aware of it.  Be 
that as it may, he was born of American parents, on July 4, 1899.  He was born 
on a farm and reared thereon, in Cass township.  A son of William and Orpha 
Black, both living in Cass township, Huntingdon County, Pa., farmers.  Her name 
before marriage was Orpha Stever.  J. Cloyd Black was educated at the Cass 
township school, has farmed and has been engaged at varoious kinds of 
employment.  At present he is with the Huntingdon Radiator Works; has been for 
the past six years.  He escaped the World War conflict.  On the day the 
Armistice was signed he was called to the colors, but too late for duty.  He is 
a Republican.  Has one sister, Alma M., married to Blair Taylor, of Cass 
township.  He was married to Lorma Crone, a daughter of Samuel and Tora Crone, 
of Shirleysburg, Pa.  They have two sons; LeRoy, seven years; Robert, five 
years.  One daughter, Alverna, ten years.  Hunting is his pastime when game is 
in season.
