N. PAUL BERNHARDT
Orbisonia, Pa.

Chief Engineer:  East Broad Top R.R. Co., born in Tell township, Huntingdon Co, 
Pa., a son of Nathan S. Bernhardt.  He was a carpenter for the East Broad Top 
R.R. Co.  He was married to Laura E. (Bollinger) Bernhardt.  Edward Bernhardt 
was the father of Nathan S. Bernhardt.  Paul Bernhardt was raised on a farm.  
He received his first schooling at the Narrows School in Cromwell township, 
Huntingdon Co., Pa.  He graduated at the Orbisonia High School, Class of 1910, 
and the Carnegie Institute in 1914.  He taught one term at the Fair Oak School 
in Cromwell township.  He is the Chief Engineer for the East Broad Top R.R., 
since 1920; Asst. Engineer from 1918 to 1920, and has been with the Company 
since 1918.  He is a Methodist, a Sunday School teacher and Asst. 
Superintendent.  His wife adheres to the Reformed Church.  He is a World War 
man, and was in chemical warfare service.  Enlisted at Huntingdon, Pa., was 
sent to Camp Lee, thence to Edgewood Arsenal, Md.; was discharged.  He belongs 
to the Masonic fraternity, Cromwell Lodge, No. 572, Orbisonia, Pa.;  Harrisburg 
Consistory.  A Charter Member of the American Legion Post, 518, Orbisonia, Pa.  
He leans to the Republican party. Has three brothers:  Ed. C., Butler, Pa.; 
Fred D., Cedar Falls, Iowa; William, Orbisonia, Pa.  Sisters are:  Mabel, 
teaching schoool at Wilkinsburg, Pa.; Olga, teaching school at Clariton, Pa.  
Paul Bernhardt was married to Ruth Kuntz, of Rainsburg, Bedford Co, Pa.  They 
have one daughter, Evalyn, aged four years.  Mr. Bernhardt is fond of outdoor 
sports.  He belongs to the Mt. Union County Club, plays golf, does not report 
his score; possible later on.  Tennis also occupies his attention when time 
will permit.
