DENNIE COONS BEALMAN
Mt. Union, Pa.

Office Terminal E.B.T.R.R.:  Was born in Dry Run, Franklin Co., Pa. April 2nd, 
1880.  His preliminary education was obtained in the Grade Schools of Shade 
Gap, Pa., and at Rockview Academy he finished his education.  His father was 
David M. Bealman, oldest son of Peter C. and Sarah (Devinney) Bealman, who was 
born near Dry Run, Franklin Co., Pa., on Nov. 30, 1856. The name Bealman is of 
German derivation.  The grandfather of David M. was the first of the family to 
emigrate to America.  He attended common school until eighteen years of age, 
when he took up agricultural business, until the year of his marriage in 1879, 
after which he resided four years at Fannettsburg, and engaged in driving a 
stage and carrying the mail between there and Concord.  From 1883 until 1890 he 
resided in Dry Run, where he followed farming.  In 1890 he became Ticket and 
Express Agent, and was up until his death in 1915.  David M. Bealman was 
married in 1879 to Harriet N., daughter of Benjamin and Mary Goshorn Stitt, a 
native of Huntingdon Co., Pa.  Both David Bealman and his wife, Harriet N. 
Bealman, are deceased.  Mr. Dennie Bealman, the subject of this sketch, has 
been a resident of this county all his life, and his duties has been confined 
to office and clerical work.  He was employed at the Westinghouse works for 
about a year and a half, and then we find him night clerk at Altoona, Pa., for 
the Adams Express Co. for a period of a year and a half, and then coming back 
to Mt. Union, Pa., where he accepted a position with the P.R.R. in 1901, and in 
1906 accepted a position with the East Broad Top Railroad and Coal Co., a 
position he now holds, and held approximately twenty-three years, a long 
service devoted to this company.  His brothers and sisters are John, Clay, Cora 
and Sadie, all deceased.  Served four years on Council, Mt. Union borough, and 
is a Republican.  Belongs to the P.O.S. of A., is a Presbyterian, and a member 
of the Sunday School and Christian Endeavor Society.  Married to Edith V. Swan, 
of Shade Gap, Pa.  Children are Wm. David and Dennie Swan, both holding 
positions with the Harbison-Walker Co. in Pittsburgh, Pa.; H. Cloyd, at home, 
and Harriet Virginia, at home, attending the Mt. Union High School.  Horse 
racing is his favorite sport.
