LAWRENCE M. BARD
Shirleysburg, Pa.

Fireman:  Born at Shirleysburg, Pa., Feb. 20, 1905, a son of Frank Bard, 
Assistant Engineer, Tuscarora Oil Co. Pumping Station, Shirley township, 
Huntingdon Co., Pa., and of Lula Harris, both parents living.  Lawrence Bard 
attended and finished the course prescribed at Shirleysburg, Pa., and attended 
the High School at Mount Union, Pa.; continued on till his senior years.  He 
has followed various employments.  Was with Hutchison & Co., contractors, for 
state road work; was with the E.B.T.R.R. at their terminal yards, on coal and 
lumber transfer; has farmed some, and since 1925 has been a fireman for 
Tuscarora Oil Co., at their pumping station.  During World War was attending 
school.  He believes in the doctrine of the Republican party.  He has four 
sisters:  Freda, a trained nurse, graduated at Altoona Hospital in 1929; 
Evelyn, a graduate of Zeth Business College; Elinor, attending High School, 
Mount Union, Pa., a junior; Dorothy, twelve years.  Lawrence M. Bard was 
married to Irene Cummings, a daughter of J. E. and Alice Cummings, at 
Orbisonia, Pa., by Rev. Thompson, United Brethren minister.  They have one son, 
Jerry Duane, four years of age, born Aug. 25, 1925.
