MARSHALL AWKERMAN
Mount Union, Pa.

President Mount Union Fire Company: As President of the Mount Union Fire 
Company he has rendered a valuable service, has put it on a standard of 
efficiency until to-day Mount Union can boast as fine an equipment as can be 
found anywhere, population considered. Marshall Awkerman is a son of B. C. 
Awkerman and Fannie Jane (Gracey) Awkerman, of Fulton County, Pa., both 
deceased.  Marshall Awkerman was born at Gracey, Pa. Fulton County, July 21, 
1899. Attended the public schools; has been a jeweler for fourteen years.  
Since the death of his father, December 3rd, 1929, he has taken over the 
business, both jewelry and repairing.  He is a member of the Lutheran Church 
and also of the Church Council.  A pupil in Sunday School.  Has long served 
on the Election Board.  Served during the World War in the United States 
Marine Corps at Paris Island, South Carolina, Santo Domingo, Dominican 
Republic, and Philadelphia Navy Yard; thirteen months with Penna. R.R. as 
police officer.  Belongs to I.O.O.F., No. 677, a Past Grand; Veteran Foreign 
Wars, Altoona, Pa.  Has been Representative of Grand Lodge of Penna.  
Brothers and sisters are C. L. Awkerman, Orbisonia, Pa.; F. F. Awkerman, 
Ardmore, Pa.; H. L. Awkerman, Harrisburg, Pa.; Stella Awkerman, Ardmore, Pa.; 
J. J. Awkerman and Irma Awkerman, deceased.  Marshall Awkerman belongs to the 
State Firemen's Association; has been a member for the last seven years.  Is 
a Democrat; was married to Rhoda Weirich, of Mount Union, Pa.  Two children, 
Charles, eight years of age, at school, and Martha Jean, one year.  A 
pleasant and agreeable man who has many friends.
