ROBERT ALBERT ARMSTRONG

Retired: A veteran of the Civil War, born at Shaver's Creek, Aug. 18, 1845 - 
eighty-four years of age.  At this writing attending Grand Army meeting at 
Gettysburg, Pa.  A son of Robert and Hannah (Spencer) Armstrong.  His father 
died Dec. 23, 1871, aged sixty-nine, a farmer all his life.  His wife died 
Jan.24, 1856, aged fifty-three.  Robert Alfred Armstrong attended the Bridge 
School; also the Kishacoquillas Academy, Mifflin Co., Pa.  Now retired.  Served 
as School Director, Assessor; Was Justice of the Jeace twelve years; was a 
Civil War Veteran; enlisted at Harrisburg, Sept 6th, 1864, in Co. H, 184th 
Reg., Vol. Inf., 1st Brigade, 2nd Division 2nd Army Corps.  Was in Grand Parade 
Review at Washington, D.C. after war had closed.  Had two brothers, James O., 
to Maggie Meredith, Winneba, Ill., both deceased.  John S., to Emma Quinn, West 
Township, Huntingdon Co., Pa.  One brother, Wm. D died in infancy.  Sisters 
are:  Elizabeth, to George B. Porter, West township, Rachel, deceased, aged 
eight years.  Robert Alfred Armstrong married Agnes Quinn, daughter of Wm. and 
Ann Quinn.  Three daughters, Penina, to David R. Dittsworth, Petersburg, Pa., a 
farmer.  Their children are: Robert A., to Julia Coffman, Alexandria, Pa.  
Luella, to Wm. Myton.  Mary, at home.  Clara, a school teacher, at Tyrone, Pa.  
Other daughters are: Ada, to David Cottrel, Harrisburg, Pa., in mercantile 
business.  Clara, deceased.  One son, Wm. Robert, at home, Petersburg, Pa.
