At office & residence of Dr John A. Weamer No 324 3d Ave Tarentum Pa Aug 16, 
1924 
      Mrs Weamer has some data necessary in getting out her D.A.R. papers her 
number being 139260.  The data states that James McComb was born near Belfast, 
Ireland 1758 & died in 1813 was married in 1781 to Nancy Jack who was born 1764 
& died in 1833 & both are buried at Bethel Church near Jacksonville, Indiana Co 
Pa. James McComb was a Private in Capt Joseph Brady's Co 1st Battalion Cumb Co 
militia 1778 Abram Smith Colonel. see page 39 Vol 6 Penna archives 5th series.  
His children were:

1. James married Jane Laughlin
2. George B 1783 married Elizabeth Marshall
3. John married Margaret Calhoun
4. David married 1. Ellen Laird, married 2 Martha Rainey
5. Joseph unmarried
6. Andrew drowned when small
7. Jane married 1.     Sandusky, married 2 McKnight
8. Mary married Joseph Henderson
9. Nancy married James McKee

Mrs Weamer says she got the above list from Mrs Gibson of Freeport Pa now dead, 
who was a daughter of one of Geo McComb's brothers & was a first cousin of Mrs 
Weamer's mother, Miss Ida Gibson teacher at Freeport & Mrs Magill & Mrs Miller 
daughters of Mrs Gibson all live at Freeport Pa & might have a lot of papers & 
the old bible of James McComb. 

Mrs Nancy Hood, aged 87 is a daughter of Mary & Joseph Henderson above & can 
give a lot of valuable information.  She lives in Indiana Pa thinks Corner 
Maple St & Wayne Ave.  Ask at the Point store.  She lives upstairs in an 
apartment in a yellow brick house with her single daughter Gretta. 

Mrs Weamer says the party selling the Marshall Family Book is O.S. Marshall 
Rural Valley Pa.  This book was prepared by O.S. Marshall has 245 pages printed 
at Kittanning Pa 1884 by steam press of Reichert Bros. Mrs Weamer's mother's 
record is as follows: Geo McComb 2d son of James & Nancy was born Oct 1, 1783 & 
died Feby 17, 1859 married 1809 to Elizabeth Marshall born 1785 & died May 26, 
1857 & are buried at Glade Run Armstrong Co Pa.  His youngest child (of 13 
chil) was Cynthia McComb born Mch 10, 1830 & died Sept 17, 1902 mar Oct 23, 
1860 to Rev Barclay Shields Sloan born Apr 16, 1831 near Rural Valley, 
Armstrong Co & died Feby 4, 1904 & buried at Indiana Pa

They had three children:
1. Dr James Harvey Sloan born May 9, 1862 Pittsburg Pa & died Oct 31, 1917 in 
Los Angeles Calif.   He married Dola Arvilla Roderick of South Bend Indiana.  
No issue.  She remarried C.H. Gehlke (pro Gelkey) & lives at No 1628 Van Ness 
Ave Los Angeles Calif. Dentist.
2. Barclay Shields Sloan Jr born Dec 31, 1865 & died Jany 26, 1919 at Indiana 
Pa.  He married June 7, 1892 Emma Louisa Prothero daughter of John Prothero & 
wife Sara Clark.  She lives, a widow at 141 RR Ave Indiana Pa.  Had one 
daughter Cynthia Sloan born Oct 22, 1894 & was married Aug 28, 1919 to Jacob 
Clyde Stayer see next page, a prof in Juniata College & live at Huntingdon Pa & 
have one child born there, Louise Sloan Stayer born Dec 13, 1923.
Louise Emma Prothero was born at Kellysburg Indiana Co Pa
3. Grace Helen Sloan born Sept 3, 1874 at Greenville Ind Co Pa & married Nov 3, 
1897 to Dr John Andrew Weamer born Sept 23, 1868 at Pharmville Ind Co Pa son of 
William Weamer & wife Mary E. Forrester.  No issue.
Rev Barclay Shields Sloan was son of William Sloan of near Rural Valley & his 
wife     Thomas
She says her mother's sister, Martha McComb married John Cochran of Dayton Pa & 
had but one child, Camden C. Cochran, who lives at Dayton Pa & could give good 
information.
John C. McComb of Dormont Pa son of Robert, a bro of Mrs Weamer's mother can 
give information also.  He is with the PRR Co.  His sister is Mrs George Kiner 
at Derry Pa
