Roy Edward Blackburn, 86, of Homer, died Friday, August 11, 2006, at a private 
health care facility following an extended illness.

Born in Franklin County on May 14, 1920, he was the son of the late James Alec 
and Nellie Watson Blackburn. He was a retired Department of Transportation 
worker, having operated heavy equipment. He enjoyed fishing and was a member 
of Belton Baptist Church. Mr. Blackburn was a veteran, having served in the 
United States Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his first 
wife, Bertie Ruth Barrett Blackburn; and brothers, Garnett Blackburn and 
Leonard Blackburn.

Survivors include his wife, Flonnie Scales Blackburn, Homer; daughters, 
Patricia Jean Andrews, Alto, and Deborah Pritchett, Homer; sons, Kenneth 
Blackburn, Cornelia, and Phillip Blackburn, Homer; step-daughters, Lynda 
Garrison, Homer, Pat Franklin, South Carolina, Sharon Underwood, Homer, and 
Wanda Dale, Gillsville; step-son, Keith Wilson, Homer; sisters, Winnie McGill, 
Royston, and Virginia Denton, Commerce; and several grandchildren, great-
grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, August 13, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin 
& Stewart Funeral Home. Burial was in Bethany Christian Church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, was in charge of 
arrangements.
