I have been researching the African-American Carson clan for over three years
and finally things are coming together. My grandfather's name was Charlie
Carson who was named after his father Charlie Carson as well. He was the son
of Charlie and Evie Williams Carson. My Great-grandfather Charlie Sr. was born
a slave in Banks County, Ga around 1854 to my Great-great grandparents Harry
and Adaline Carson, who were originally from Abbeville, South Carolina and they
were also slaves. They were owned by Martin and Hepsebeth Carson of Abbeville,
South Carolina and were later brought to Banks County, Homer, Ga around 1850.
Harry and Adaline were the parents of Lonnie, Charly B, Elizabeth, Mary, Edmon,
Lucinda, and Lousonna Carson. Charly B. who as I stated earlier as being my
great-grandfather, was married four times. He was the father of Addie B and
with Evie Williams-Carson, he was the father of Belle, Marvin, Willie, James,
Charlie, Annie, Irene, Bertie, and John. Charlie later married Lillie Mae White
and to this union were born thirteen children. They are Eula, Garland (d),
Everine, Leon, Willie, Elease (d), Alice, Lenzie (d), Annie Lois, James, Marie,
and Barbara. Charlie died on June 29,1948 at home in Carnesville, Ga. My
grandmother Lillie Mae Carson remarried in 1951 to Bud Law and to this union
was born George Thomas Law. I am the daughter of Marie Carson. This is just a
brief synosis of the African-American Carson's.
