Professor G. G. Bond, Superintendent of the Athens City Schools 1891-1923

in Hogansville, and a year and one-half in a Gainesville school completed his
preparatory work.

At seventeen, he was a teacher of a country school at Old Midway Church in
Forsyth, County; at eighteen and nineteen he was teaching country schools in
Cherokee County, Georgia.

Graduated from Peabody Normal School, Nashville, Tennessee, in 1885, at the
age of twenty-two.

One term in a country school in Hart County; two years of teaching in the
South Georgia M. & F. College, Dawson, Ga., completed his work before he came to
Athens, Georgia.

In 1888 he became principal of the Washington Street School, on the lot where
the Georgian Hotel now stands, in Athens, and he was principal of this school
for two years, principal of the High School at Columbus, Georgia, for one year,
and superintendent of the Athens City Schools since 1891.
