Richie Farrow, the Rev. Clifford DeLee, the Rev. Zenus Windsor, the Rev. Paul Wilson and the Rev. Tim Whaley officiating. Burial was in Wadley Cemetery. Mr. Hall died Friday, Nov. 28, at his home. Survivors include a daughter, Jan H. Roberts of Dalton, Ga.; a son, Jerry Hall of Wadley; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jack Brand, Guy Kelly, J. W. Weaver, Jimmy Hall, Scott Sims and Zack Baggett. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to East Alabama Hospice (665 Opelika Road, Auburn, AL 36830) or American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 1155, Anniston, AL 36202). A lifelong resident of this area, Mr. Hall was born July 12, 1921, in Chambers County, son of Dorson and Gladys Hodnett Hall. He was a member of Wadley Baptist Church and the owner/operator of Hall's Red & White in Wadley. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sara Edge Hall; and a brother, Wesley Hall. John Brown officiating. Burial was in Anniston Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Stephens died Sunday, Nov. 30, at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital. Survivors include four daughters, Marynell Landrum of Pell City, Betty Sue Smith of Atlanta, Judy E. Cox of Birmingham and Debra Jean Stephens of Anniston; two sons, Terry Dean Stephens of Pell City and Danny G. Stephens of Jacksonville; three sisters, Christine Haynes of Fairfax, Lavern McCollough of Lanett and Louise Self of Roanoke; a brother, Bill Earl of LaFayette; thirteen grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Stephens was of the Christian faith. Survivors include seven daughters, Ruth Clark of Pell City, Bonnie Huddleston of Jacksonville, Mattie Mathis of Kingston, Tenn., Linda Thrash Bobby of Ohatchee, Myra Jones of Baton Rouge, La., Sharon Law of Dallas, Ga., and Mary Amerson of Spring Garden; four sons, James "J.W." Jones of Silver Creek, Ga., Perry Jones and M. C. Jones of Piedmont, and Randy Jones of Abingdon, Md.; four brothers, Harbert Cofield and Griffin Cofield, both of Gadsden, Harding Cofield of Hokes Bluff, and John Lewis Cofield of Huntsville; 21 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Jones was a Randolph County native and had been a Piedmont resident most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband John P. Jones. __________ Lois Inez McIntyre Services for Lois Inez McIntyre, 87, of Heflin were Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Heflin Baptist Church with Dr. Don Carroll and the Rev. Phillip Morris officiating. Burial was in Heflin City Cemetery with Dryden Funeral Home in charge. Miss McIntyre died Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center. Survivors include a sister, Jean Hix of Phenix City; and a niece, Margie M. Brown of Greensboro, N.C. Pallbearers were former students. Miss McIntyre was a native of Randolph County and a resident of Cleburne County most of her life. She retired from the Cleburne County Board of Education as a teacher with 43 years of service. She was a graduate of Auburn University, a member of Heflin Baptist Church, the AEA and the Alabama Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ann McIntyre Edwards; and a brother, C. L. McIntyre. Betty Jane Owens Walker, 64, of Franklin, Ga., died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at Carrollton Manor Nursing Home in Carrollton, Ga. Services for Mrs. Walker were Wednesday, Nov. 26, at First Baptist Church of Franklin, with the Revs. Talmadge Chandler and Ronnie Jordan officiating. Music was by Bryan and Luanne Owensby and Keith Cornelius, son-in-law of Mrs. Walker. Serving as pallbearers were Jeff Walker, Chris Walker, Russel Massa, Tim Massa, Rickey Massa and Randy Adamson. Interment was in Randolph Memory Gardens in Rock Mills. Mrs. Walker was born in Randolph County to the late Jesse Wallace Owens and Myrtle Lucille Hall Owens. For many years she served in the nursing profession, where she brought love and care to all her patients. In her latter years she enjoyed being a housewife and mother. She was a member of Franklin First Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Ginger Cornelius of Carrollton, Ga.; three sons, Rick Walker of Rome, Ga., and Billy and Danny Walker of LaGrange, Ga.; one sister, Annette Massa of Fran[k]lin, Ga.; and eight grandchildren. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Hendrix died Monday, Nov. 24, at Wedowee Hospital. A native of Cleburne County, Mrs. Hendrix was born May 7, 1931, the daughter of the late Jessie J. and Mariah Whitley Williams. She was a retired poultry farmer and a member of Bethlehem Campground United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alta Hendrix, who died May 29, 1976. She is survived by three daughters, Lynne Benefield of Graham and Shelia Caldwell and Sheryl Smith of Ranburne; two brothers, Herman Williams of Cumming, Ga., and Luna Williams of Ranburne; six sisters, Shirley Baker of Carrollton, Ga., Georgia Mae Lowery, Ora Bell Robinson and Veralene Turner of Bowdon, Ga., and Charlotte Runyan and Rachel Runyan of Graham; and seven grandchildren. Dorothy May, 87, of LaGrange, Ga., died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at Florence Hand Home in LaGrange. Mrs. May, born Oct. 21, 1916, in Newnan, Ga., was the daughter of the late Thomas Dawson and Minnie Lee Haynes Smith. She retired from Westinghouse. Survivors include two daughters, Daphyne Whatley of LaGrange and Tommie Sanders of Roanoke; two sons, Billy Moore of Summerville and Robbie May of Mobile; 10 grandchildren; a stepson, Gerald May of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews. Burial was in Hillview East Cemetery. __________ Jack L. Shelton (GRAHAM) Jack L. Shelton, 57, of 243 County Road 422, Graham, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at Tanner Medical Center, Carrollton, Ga. Mr. Shelton was born Oct. 14, 1946, in Cleburne County, son of the late James "Jim" and Lela Willingham Shelton. He was a poultry farmer and served in the Army National Guard for 8 1/2 years. Survivors include his wife, Charleen McManus Shelton of Graham; two sons, Lee Shelton and Matt Shelton of Woodland; a daughter, Amanda Aldridge of Bowdon, Ga.; four brothers, Bill Shelton, John Shelton, R. J. Shelton and Robert Shelton of Heflin; two sisters, Louise Turner and Betty Whiten of Bowdon; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Jimmy Shelton. Born Nov. 8, 1.923, in Chambers County, Mrs. Fant was retired from Lanett Mill after 48 years of service, and also operated a beauty shop in Lanett for many years. Jamie Taylor officiating. Burial followed at Paran Baptist Church Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Hernandez died Tuesday, Dec. 2, at her home. Survivors include her husband, Daniel Hernandez; one daughter, Frances Susan Hernandez; one son, Daniel Tyson Hernandez; her parents, Gene and Frances Waters; and a sister, Shirley Luken, all of Roanoke. Mr. Lawson was born in Randolph County on July 26, 1944. He retired from his position as an electrician for the Milliken Textile Company in LaGrange, Ga., where he was a loyal employee for more than 30 years. He and his wife, Marie Mashburn Lawson, who preceded him in death on June 3, 2003, enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Others preceded Mr. Lawson in death were both of his parents, John Elliot Lawson and Colon Bozeman, and a daughter, Terri Joe Lawson, in 1972. Surviving are two sons, Michael Eugene Lawson and Marty Glenn Upchurch of Carrollton; a daughter, Linda Darlene Upchurch Luke of Carrollton; a brother, Billy Lawson of Roanoke; three sisters, Dorothy Chisholm of Richmond, Va., Mary John Nolen of Roanoke and Wyoleen Sikes of Wedowee; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Joseph Anthony "Tony" Jones, 50, of Marietta, Ga., died Friday, May 30, 2003, after a brief illness. Mr. Jones was born July 28, 1952, in Niagara Falls, N.Y. He was the son of the late Rance and Merrilee Jones and the grandson of the late Rocco and Florence Bruno. Tony served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and worked for Graphic Solutions Group and previously for Stein Printing Company. He was a member of Shiloh Hills Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Martha Sutton of Wadley; a daughter, Nicole Jones Maynard of Woodstock, Ga.; four brothers, Rocco J. Bruno Jr. and David Michael Bruno of Niagara Falls, Rance A. Jones Jr. of Charlotte, N.C., and Mark Hester of British Columbia; a sister, Rosanna Ramsey of Auburn; one granddaughter; uncles Fred Jones of Auburn and Herbert Jones of Wadley; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. John Skipper officiating. Burial will be in Wadley Cemetery. Mr. Pearson will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services. Mr. Pearson died Sunday, Dec. 7, at Randolph Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Harris Pearson of Wadley; two daughters, Suzanne Collins and Dale White, both of Marietta, Ga.; one son, Robert Hurley Pearson of Alexander City; and six grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jerry Hall, Johnny Cleveland, Jimmy Sprayberry, Ethridge Knight, Jim Hall and Randy Howell. Mr. Pearson was a member of Wadley First Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, chairman of the Deacon Board, Sunday school teacher and in the church choir. He was a rural letter carrier with the Wadley Post Office, former director of First Bank and a member and past president of the Wadley Kiwanis Club. Mrs. Yates was a native of Randolph County, born Jan. 12, 1921, daughter of Tom and Nevada Sikes Garner. She was retired from Bremen-Bowdon Investment Company as a supervisor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Esker Willis Yates, a daughter, Marie Rampy, and a son, Gary Yates. Herbert Wright Green, 80, of LaGrange, Ga., died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at West Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Green, born Aug. 1, 1923, in Randolph County, Ala., was the son of the late Mack and Lou Emma Stewart Green. Mr. Green had lived in LaGrange most of his life and retired from Milliken and Company after 45 years of service as a machinery maintenance manager. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Eveline "Johnnie" Green of LaGrange; sons, Mickey Green of Pine Mountain, Ga., David Green of Walland, Tenn., Randy Green of Madbury, N.H., and Mark Green of LaGrange; two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Kent of Thomaston, Ga., and Marjorie Green of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews. A Roanoke resident most of his life, Mr., Richardson was born in Heard County, Ga., on Aug. 26, 1966, son of Milton Sherrell Richardson and Myrtice Faye Gosdin Richardson. __________ Elizabeth Howard Warren (WEDOWEE) Elizabeth Howard Warren, 64, of Wedowee, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. Survivors include her husband, Donnie E. Warren of Wedowee; one daughter, Shelia Marie Burks of Jacksonville; three sons, James Calvin Ivey of Lakeland, Ga., Michael Anthony Ivey of Douglas, Ga., and Jonathan "Marty" Ivey of Roanoke; two sisters, Joyce Hicks and Ima Jean Sims, both of Bryant; three brothers, Hollis Howard of Sand Mountain, Billy Howard of Bryant and Donald Ray Howard of Stevenson; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Warren was a Jackson County native, born Feb. 26, 1939, daughter of George W. and Alvie Adams Howard. She was Baptist by faith and had retired from Amoco Fabrics & Fibers. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dewayne Ivey; two grandsons, Jason Ivey and Anthony Ivey; a great-grandson, Will Cofield; and a sister, Ella Mae Grayson. Coleman Shaw, 77, of Gadsden were Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Sweet Home United Methodist Church in Gadsden with the Rev. Lawrence Watts, pastor, officiating. Burial was at Peace & Goodwill Baptist Church Cemetery, Roanoke. Mrs. Shaw died Saturday, Dec. 20, at her residence. Mrs. Shaw is best remembered for her years devoted to education at Randolph County Training School (RCTS) and as the wife of the late Herman L. Shaw, who was principal of RCTS for many years before the family relocated to Gadsden. Mrs. Shaw was the 15th of 16 children born in Roanoke to the late Luther and Willie Coleman. Early in life, she joined Mt. Bethel Methodist Church in Roanoke. She graduated from RCTS, later obtaining her B.S. degree from Alabama A&M University. She earned her master's degree from Tuskegee University and continued her studies from Morgan State University. After moving to Gadsden, she joined Sweet Home United Methodist Church, where she served as chairperson of the administrative board, a member of council on ministries, Sunday school teacher of the Methodist women, a pastor-parish relations committee member and lay delegate to the annual conference. Professionally, she worked as a classroom teacher, school counselor, and director of Project PEEP and engaged in the business arena. She touched the lives of many students, leading them to success in their lives and educational endeavors. She was involved with Upward Bound, Gadsden Housing Authority Board, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Regional 310 Board, AEA, NEA and the Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include one son, Rev. Daryll Shaw of Gadsden; three daughters, Vale Bills, Nina Warren and Gigi Owens, all of Gadsden; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Coleman of Washington, D.C., and Jim Coleman of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sisters, Nancy Arnold and Ruth Reese, both of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and many other relatives and devoted friends.
