Phillip Johnson and the Rev. Roger Florence officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Moore died Friday, Nov. 26, at his residence. Mr. Moore was a native of Cleburne County, born May 14, 1935, son of Clarence and Myrtle Parrish Moore. He was retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service, having served in the Korean Conflict and also in Vietnam. He also retired from Amoco Fabrics and Fibers Company in Roanoke after 15 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Lois Moore of Roanoke; two daughters, Tracy Moore and Tammy Pike of Roanoke; four sisters, Mary Childers of Anniston and Francis Gillman, Linda Moore and Dot Bowen of Heflin; one brother, Fradis Moore of Heflin; and four grandchildren. Floyd Carmack officiating. Burial was at Antioch Congregational Christian Church Cemetery in Chambers County. Mrs. Higgins died Sunday, Nov. 28, at Fairburn Health Care Center in Fairburn, Ga. A lifelong resident of this area, Mrs. Higgins was born Dec. 13, 1912, daughter of Samuel Casper and Josephine Pace Carlisle Fausett. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Roanoke, the Antioch Congregational Christian Church Missionary Society and the Mt. Olive Community Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lloyd Higgins Sr. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Charlotte Booth of Fayetteville, Ga., Martha H. Byrd of Smyrna, Ga., and Katherine H. Fausett of Pelham; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. __________ George Anthony Waldrep (PHENIX CITY) George Anthony Waldrep, 26, of Phenix died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999, in Valley. Mr. Waldrep was born April 5, 1973, in Opelika. He was a resident of a group home in Phenix City and of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his parents, Patricia Elaine Traylor Walston of Valley and Jerry Waldrep of Wadley; two brothers Jarrod Helleso and Michael Waldrep of Valley; his paternal grandmother, Mildred S. Waldrep of Lanett; and several cousins and uncles. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Moline Taylor, and his paternal grandfather, J. W. Waldrep. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 22, at 11 a.m. at McCarthy Funeral Home in West Point, with the Rev. Gerald Sykes officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Lanett. Mr. Pollard is survived by his wife, Resa Rice Pollard of Lanett; his step-son David Rice of Lake Harding; two sons, Jimmy Pollard of Opelika and George Pollard of Roanoke; his brother, Fred Pollard of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Born Nov. 25, 1909, in Randolph County, Mr. Pollard was a member of Midway Methodist Church in Wedowee. He was the son of the late Nancy and Will Pollard. Mr. Pollard was a retired employee of West Point Pepperell's Lantuck Mill, with 35 years of service. He was and avid hunter and fisherman. Frank Foster and the Rev. Dan Williams officiating. Burial followed at Randolph Memory Gardens. Mr. Wilford died suddenly Dec. 2 at Randolph County Hospital. He was born in Monticello, Fla., on March 19, 1932, son of Charlie and Mildred Ward Wilford and had lived in Thomasville, Ga., until entering the military. He was employed at NOK-Freudenberg and attended Rock Mills Nazarene Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Beatrice Brown, and a grandson, Michael Smith. Arrangements were by Quattlebaum Funeral Home, Roanoke. __________ Bill Turnham (LAFAYETTE) Bill Turnham, 72, of LaFayette died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999 at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital, Valley. Mr. Turnham was a Chambers County native, born Nov. 12, 1927. He was retired for the Chambers County Highway Department after 28 years. He served on the LaFayette City Council for eight years. He served in the U.S. Navy and also the Army during World War II. He also saw combat in Korea. He was a member of LaFayette Heights Baptist Church. Funeral services were at Abanda Baptist Church on Friday, Dec. 3, at 3 p.m., with interment in Abanda Cemetery. The Rev. Maynard McGinty and the Rev. John Moon officiated. Ms. Lancaster, a native of Randolph County, was the daughter of the late Sam and Sophia Scalas and the widow of the late Guy Lancaster. She was a resident of County Road 15 and a faithful member of the United Methodist Church and the T.W. Tobin Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She had lived in recent years with her son, L. C. Lancaster, in Atlanta. Survivors include two sons Olige Lancaster of Marietta, Ga., and L. C. Lancaster of Atlanta; a daughter, Veronia Saddler of Wedowee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was an active life-long member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Wedowee. She was an active member of the T.W. Tobin Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Survivors include her husband, John L. She was a teacher with Baldwin County Schools and a supervisor of elementary education with a total of 48 years in public education, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Randolph County Retired Teachers and First Baptist Church of Wedowee. He was born in Randolph County on April 11, 1940, son of Fred Davis and Doris Perry Huey. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Huey, and a brother, Tony Huey. Mr. Henderson was a native of the Roanoke area, born Nov. 3, 1920, to the late Horton and Rena E. Henderson. He served in the U.S. Navy and was employed by the Atlanta Water Works until his retirement in 1985. Mr. Henderson was a member of St. John AME Church, where he served on the steward board and as a class leader and Sunday school teacher. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Mae Davis Henderson, and a son, John Fitzgerald Henderson. Williams, married for 43 years, died together on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999. Carroll and Melba had been residents of Bay County, Fla., since 1973, moving there from Colorado Springs, Colo., after Carroll's retirement from the Air Force. They had spent their retirement years together as entrepreneurs, involved in many different businesses in the area, including a restaurant, a motel and a taxi company. Melba was a businesswoman, a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. She attended Auburn University. Carroll was a retired master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, serving for 26 years during World War II, Korean and Vietnam. Both were members of Central Baptist Church. Together they are survived by sons, Greg Williams of Parker, Fla., and Bruce Williams of Lynn Haven, Fla.; and six grandchildren. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Fredonia. Survivors include two daughters, Doris Steagall and Joana Scholtz; one sister, Ethel Carlisle; two brothers, John T. Smith and J. C. Smith; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons and friends. Arrangements are by Silmon Mortuary, Roanoke. __________ James Monroe Craft (WEDOWEE) Graveside funeral services for James Monroe Craft, 88, of Wedowee were at 11 a.m. Monday Dec. 27, 1999, at Union Hill Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Basil Key and the Rev. Earnest Lipham officiating. Mr. Craft died Saturday, Dec. 25, at Wedowee Hospital. A lifelong resident of Randolph County, he was born Sept. 28, 1911, son of John William and Arvie Key Craft. He had been employed with Kilby Steel and was a Congregational Methodist. He was preceded in death by two sons, Billy Craft Sr. and Johnny Ray Craft Sr. Survivors include two daughters, Dorthy Smith of Wedowee and Ruth Sneed of Winter Park, Fla; one son, William Ted Craft of Wedowee; 13 grandchildren, 20 great- grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Donald Wright, James Hill, Amos Sheppard, Jerry Aldridge, Tim Milam and Benny Harman.
