GEORGE EDWARD BETTS

GEORGE EDWARD BETTS, 12-day-old son of George and Stella (McCabe) Betts, died 
at 1:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon in the parental home, 819 Huber Street.  
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Thomas 
A. Kennedy Funeral Home.  Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Church 
Cemetery, Geistown.

MRS. MARTHA A. BECK

Mrs. Martha A. Beck died March 4 at her home in West Providence Township, 
within two weeks of her 77th birthday.  Funeral services were held Sunday 
afternoon in the Frame Church, Rev. Robt. M. Kimball officiating, and 
interment made in the adjoining cemetery under the direction of Mortician 
Maust.  She was a member of the Christian Church.
A daughter of John and Drusilla (Casteel) Gordon, she was born March 17, 
1861, and on Nov. 16, 1879, was married to John C. Beck, who died Dec. 22, 
1934.  Seven children survive,-Emory H. of Ohio; Bertha May, at home; Mrs. 
Nannie G. Cartwright, Mrs. Anna P. Sparks, Mrs. Florence Garlick and Marshall 
C. and Grover Beck, all of Everett.  Also, two sisters, Mrs. Margaretta 
Swartzwelder of Chaneysville and Mrs. Caroline Mearkle of Alliance, O.

GEORGE BENSON, 50, ILL MANY MONTHS, TAKES LIFE AT HOME

George Patrick Benson, 50, Lorain Division employe of Carnegie Illinois Steel 
Corporation, took his life yesterday afternoon at his home, 755 Highland 
Avenue.  Deputy Coroner John A. Conway, who listed the case as suicide, said 
Benson had used a shotgun in the act.
Ill health was assigned as the motive, relatives told Conway.  A steel 
chipper for the last 10 years, Benson's health had been impaired for some 
months.  He last worked September 22.  Some weeks ago he collapsed on a 
downtown street while enroute to a physician, it was recalled.
Born at Wilkes-Barre, Benson was the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Mitchell) 
Benson.  Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary (Peron) Benson:  two children, 
Jerome and Lorna, at home; a brother, William Benson, Camden, N. J. and two 
sisters, Mrs. Bessie Sidel, Camden, and Mrs. Mary Baumgardner, Pricedale, 
Westmoreland County.  He was a member of the Knights of St. George.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 o'clock Friday morning at St. 
Patrick's Catholic Church, Moxham.  Interment in St. John Gualbert's 
Cemetery, Geistown, will be directed by Undertaker, S. J. Conway.

HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR EXPIRES IN HOSPITAL

Heart Ailment Proves Fatal for Miss Margaret Brennan, 17, of Bakerton.

A Carrolltown High School senior, Miss Margaret Brennan, 17, of Bakerton, 
died at 3 o'clock yesterday morning in Miners Hospital, Spangler, where she 
had been a patient for several weeks.
Death was attributed to a heart ailment.  Miss Brennan was unable to attend 
school this term because of ill health.
She was born in Bakerton June 21, 1920, a daughter of Owen and Bridget 
(Patterson) Brennan of Bakerton.  Surviving are the parents and the following 
brothers and sisters: William,  Edward, Paul, Earl, Anna Jane, Catherine and 
Marilyn Brennan, all at home; Miss Pauline and John Brennan, both of 
Pittsburgh and Mrs. Adolph Farabaugh, Carrolltown.
Miss Brennan was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bakerton, and the 
Young Ladies' Sodality of the parish.
Funeral arrangements, in charge of J. Edward Stevens, Carrolltown mortician, 
are incomplete.

ASHVILLE WOMAN DIES

GALLITZIN, Jan. 21.-The remains of Mrs. Emma (McGuire) Beldin, who died at 
10.35 o'clock yesterday morning in the Mercy hospital, Altoona, were removed 
this forenoon to the home between this place and Ashville.  She was born in 
1872 in Ashville, a daughter of John and Elizabeth (DeLaney) McGuire.  Her 
father was a brother of Captain Michael McGuire, the first white settler in 
Cambria county.  Mrs. Beldin is survived by her husband, Theodore Beldin, and 
these daughters and sons:  Josephine, wife of Roger Harrington, sr., of 
Gallitzin, Virginia, wife of Kenneth Williams of Blandburg, Francis Beldin of 
Altoona, John of Gallitzin and Henry, at home.  Eleven grandchildren survive 
along with one sister, Mrs. Ella Eager of Altoona.  Mrs. Beldin was 
affiliated with the St. Joseph Catholic church, Ashville.

PARENTS NAME WRONG

In the obituary of Mrs. Emma (McGuire) Beldin, the name of the father was 
inadvertently given as John.  The names of the parents should have read 
Martin and Jane (Delaney) McGuire.  Mrs. Beldin was a member of St. Joseph's 
Catholic church at Coupon.

MARY A. BAKER

Mary Audrian Baker, a daughter of Samuel E. and Wilma (Replogle) Baker of 
Waterside, died at 4:30 o'clock Friday morning at the Nason hospital, Roaring 
Spring, after an illness of two weeks'.  She was a twin child and was born on 
Jan. 26, 1931.  Surviving are the parents, a brother, Jackie aged 8, a twin 
brother, Allen, aged 7, and a sister, Jean, aged 4.  She attended the first 
grade school and the primary department of the New Enterprise Church of the 
Brethern Sunday School.

BAKER-The funeral of Mary Audrian Baker of Waterside will be held on Tuesday 
afternoon in the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren in charge of Rev. W. 
N. Staufer, the cortege leaves the home at 2 o'clock.  Interment in the 
Replogle cemetery, Waterside.

TWO YEAR ILLNESS IS ENDED BY DEATH

CRESSON, Aug. 1. - Suffering from heart disease and kidney trouble for the 
past two years, Stanley Bem, aged 56, widely known resident of Allegheny 
township, Cambria county, between here and Loretto, died shortly before 4 
o'clock yesterday morning.  His condition did not become critical until 
Saturday night. 
Mr. Bem was a mere child when he emigrated to America from Poland, where he 
was born on May 9, 1882, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Bem.  He settled in 
Gallitzin, where he spent the remainder of his boyhood days, after which he 
became associated with the Taylor & McCoy Coal and Coke corporation, for ten 
years.  When the Cresson sanatorium was established in 1913, he severed his 
connections with the corporation to accept a position as fireman of the 
boilers at the local institution.  Because of failing health he was obliged 
to yield this position ten years ago and since that time had followed farming 
in Allegheny township.
Tomorrow Mr. and Mrs. Bem would have attained or observed their thirtieth 
wedding anniversary, having been united in marriage in St. Mary's Polish 
Catholic church, Gallitizin.
Members of his family include his widow, Mrs. Caroline (Sigada) Bem, and the 
following children:  Joseph of Allegheny township, Bernard Bem of Altoona, R. 
D., Edna, wife of Paul Message of Allegheny township, Matilda, Felix, 
Dorothy, Catherine Mary, Eleanor and Edward, all at home.  One sister, Mrs. 
Anna Kurash of Gallitzin township, survives along with two brothers, Jacob 
Bem of Portage and Joseph Bem of Europe, along with his grandchildren.

LORAIN BOROUGH MAN HURT IN FALL DIES IN HOSPITAL

Injuries to the back he suffered on the Fourth of July in a fall from a high 
porch in Moxham, proved fatal yesterday to Louis Bizjak, 55, of 395 Lunen 
Street, Lorain Borough.
Mr. Bizjak died at 12:35 o'clock yesterday afternoon in Lee Hospital, where 
he had been a patient since the accident.  Hospital attaches said he 
sustained a broken back in the fall.
He had gone to the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank 
Perchin of 669 Russell Avenue, Moxham in the afternoon of Independence Day.  
The Perchin family was away and no one saw Bizjak fall.  The banister was 
broken and it was believed the victim fell backwards, a distance of six or 
eight feet.  Whether he was sitting on the banister at the time, the family 
does not know.
Born in Yugoslavia, June 21, 1882.  Mr. Bizjak came to this country 27 years 
ago.  He worked in coal mines in Somerset County until 1920 when he located 
in Johnstown.  He had been employed as a miner for the Hiram Swanks Sons 
Company.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Catherine (Debelak) Gabrovsek Bizjak, and five 
daughters:  Anna, wife of Frank Perchin, 669 Russell Avenue; Josephine and 
Louise Bizjak, 669 Russell Avenue; Julia, wife of John Mocnick, Chicago, 
Ill., and Florence Bizjak, at home.  He also leaves two step-sons, Frank 
Grabrovsek, 395 Lunen Street, and Michael, 384 Luden Street.
Mr. Bizjak was a brother of Mrs. Frank Yurovsek, Krayn, near Dunlo; and Mrs. 
Louis Pirc, Saint Michael.  A brother, Frank Bizjak of Saint Michael, died in 
Windber Hospital July 31, of last year.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the 
Bizjak home.  Interment in Grandview Cemetery will be directed by Martin 
Baretincio & Son.  Funeral arrangements are in charge of the S. N. P. J. 
Lodge of which Mr. Bizjak was a member.

GLADYS BERNAT

GLADYS BERNAT, nine-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bernat of 
Clymer, died at 9:25 o'clock last night in Indiana Hospital where she was 
admitted less than two hours before in a critical condition.  The body was 
taken to a Clymer mortuary.

EMERY BARRON, 77, DIES UNEXPECTEDLY AT CHURCH IN CORAL

Emery J. Barron, 77, a retired farmer of Burrell Township, near Josephine, 
Indiana County, fell dead at 3:45 p.m. yesterday while conversing with 
friends outside the Lutheran Chapel at Coral.  Death was attributed to a 
heart attack by Coroner John Woods.  Barron had attended afternoon services 
in the chapel.
Dr. E. M. Bushnell of Black Lick was summoned and pronounced the man dead.
A native of adjacent, Center Township, Mr. Barron was born December 28, 1860.  
He had farmed in Burrell Township many years.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Minerva (DeVinney) Barron; four children, Paul 
L. Barron, Burrell Township; Mrs. Ruth McLaren, Josephine; Mrs. Bertha Shaub, 
Lancaster, and Mrs. Sophia Christley, Pittsburgh, and a brother, A. M. 
Barron, Blairsville.
Emery Barron for many years was a member of the Lutheran Chapel where funeral 
services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday with interment in Blairsville 
Cemetery under the direction of the Robinson Funeral Home, Indiana.

MRS. KATHERINE BARD

Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine Bard, 62, of 304 Napoleon Street, who 
died at 2:20 o'clock yesterday afternoon in Memorial Hospital, will be 
conducted at 3:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Bard home.  Rev. Dr. George 
W. Nicely, pastor, First Lutheran Church, of which Mrs. Bard was a member, 
will officiate.  Interment in Grandview Cemetery will be directed by H. M. 
Picking & Sons.  Mrs. Bard became seriously ill Sunday and was removed to the 
hospital.  Peritonitis resulting from appendicitis was believed to have 
caused her death.  Born in Elizabethtown, Pa., December 10, 1876, Mrs. Bard 
was a daughter of Christian and Katherine Epier.  She and William R. Bard, 
well known local restaurant owner, were married in Elizabethtown, a number of 
years ago and came to Johnstown in 1908.  Mr. Bard has been engaged in 
business here continuously since 1908.  Besides her husband, Mrs. Bard leaves 
these children:  Lillian, wife of I. R. Long, 151 Plainfield Avenue, Eighth 
Ward; Gladys,  wife of Howard Burgy, also of 151 Plainfield Avenue; Lester 
Bard, 312 Strauss Avenue; Evelyn, wife of Collins Haire, New Florence, and S. 
W. Bard, 502 Napoleon Street.  Mrs. Bard also leaves a brother, Amon H. 
Epier, Lemoyne, Pa., and a sister, Mrs. Agnes H. Day, Reading.  Two 
daughters, Mrs. Ethel Edwards, and Miss Hazel Beatrice Bard, preceded her in 
death.

MRS. MARY (FEATHERSTON) BOYLE

Aged about 75, died shortly before noon yesterday at her home 358 Somerset 
Street.  In ill health for the last year, she had been bedfast two and one-
half months, with death resulting from a complication of ailments.  Born in 
New York City, a daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Hines) Featherston.   Mrs. 
Boyle was married three times, all three husbands preceding her in death.  
Surviving are two daughters and a son, Miss May Jones of 358 Somerset Street, 
Mrs. C. H. Stout of Derry and O. A. Jones of Schenectedy, N. Y.  A brother, 
J. C. Featherston of Indiana, also survives.  Mrs. Boyle was a member of 
Calvary M. E. Church, H. M. Picking & Sons are making funeral arrangements.

J. C. BOYD

John Charles Boyd of Salemville, died July 21, at his home of a heart attack.  
He was born in St. Louis, Mo., Dec. 20, 1880, and united in marriage with 
Nettie Kagarise, who survives, together with these children:  Jerome of 
Loysburg; Mrs. Belle Ranker, Alfred, Raymond, Orlo, Paul, Pauline, Esther of 
Salemville and four grandchildren.  An orphan, he had been compelled to look 
after himself at the age of twelve years and had always been a good citizen 
and father.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church.  Funeral services were 
conducted Saturday afternoon at the S. D. B. Brick Church by Rev. F. R. King 
and interment made in the Salemville Cemetery in charge of Mortician Byers of 
Woodbury.

PETRO BILLOCK

PETRO BILLOCK, 50, of Revloc, died Tuesday morning in Mount Alto State 
Sanatorium, where he had been a patient for several months.  Surviving are 
his widow and several children.  Funeral services will be conducted at 1 
o'clock tomorrow afternoon in Greek Catholic Church, Revloc.  Interment in 
Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg, will be directed by Duke J. Rosensteel, 
Ebensburg mortician.

RITES TOMORROW FOR BLAIRSVILLE YOUTH

Funeral services for Sanford S. Baird, 20, of Blairsville, R. D. 2, who was 
killed Thanksgiving Day when struck by a blast from a shotgun in the hands of 
his half-brother, William J. Hawkins, will be conducted at 2:30 tomorrow 
afternoon at the Robinson Funeral Home, Saltsburg.
Interment will be in Edgewood Cemetery, Saltsburg.  The youth was born at Ten 
Mile, Washington County, September 23, 1918, a son of John and Laura 
(Cankelman) Baird, now of Blairsvill, R. D. 2.
Besides the parents, he leaves a sister, Dorothy, at home; two half-brothers, 
William Hawkins and Herbert Hawkins of Washington, Pa., and a half-sister, 
Mrs. Charles Shiver, Waynesburg.

MRS. MARY BERCHEY

MRS. MARY BERCHEY, 42, wife of Joseph Berchey of 454 Fairfield Avenue, Lower 
Yoder Township, died yesterday afternoon near Ebensburg.  She was born in 
Johnstown a daughter of Stephen and Anna Uhrin.  Besides her husband, she  
leaves these children; Joseph, Texas, William, New Mexico; Anna, Francis, 
James, Sophie and Matilda, all at home.  She also leaves a brother, John 
Uhrin, McKees Rocks, and a sister, Mrs. Andrew Dudash, McKees Rocks.   Mrs. 
Berchey was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church.  Funeral arrangements 
are in charge of Martin Baretincle & Son.

HENRY BRANTANO

HENRY BRANTANO, 60, formerly of Rockwood, died Tuesday in Blairsville.  Death 
was attributed to lobar pneumonia.  Several sons survive.  A Rockwood 
undertaker is in charge of funeral arrangements.

EDWARD J. BAKER

EDWARD J. BAKER, 81, a retired farmer of Bakersville, Somerset County, died 
at 7 a.m. Saturday at his home in Somerset.  He had been ill only a few days.  
Death of Mr. Baker severed a marriage union lasting 60 years.  He was a son 
of Philip and Susan (Miller) Baker and was born September 10, 1856.  
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Katherine (Ash) Baker, and these children:  W. 
Ira Baker and Mrs. Harry Meyers, both of Bakersville, and Roy E. Baker of 
Ocala, Fla.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today in 
Bakersville Lutheran Church with interment in Bakersville Cemetery under the 
direction of Charles R. Hauger, Somerset mortician.

FRANK BIGELOW

Aged 6, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bigelow of 205 Fifty-fifth street, 
Roselawn, died at the Altoona hospital at 9.37 o'clock this morning.  The 
child was admitted to the institution Thursday of last week and was a patient 
in the children's ward.

ARTHUR BARGER, JR.

Arthur Barger, Jr., a resident of Kistler, died Sunday morning September 25, 
1938, at 4:30 o'clock, death being due to silicosis.  He was a son of Mr. and 
Mrs. Arthur Barger
of Clymer, Pa., and was born at Peale, Clearfield county, January 6, 1902, 
hence was aged 36 years, 8 months and 19 days.
He was united in marriage to Mary Banks of Clearfield, March 30, 1926, by the 
Rev. John W. Cribbs, the Presbyterian pastor, of Winburne.  Mr. Barger was a 
member of the Mount Union Baptist church and of the Odd Fellows lodge in 
Mount Union.
Surviving are his wife and four children: Louise, 11; Robert, 9; Irene, 6 and 
Evelyn 2.  Also surviving are his parents and these brothers and sisters; 
Charles, Brentwood, Mo.; Clifford, Cleveland, Ohio; Elmer, Spangler, Pa., 
Robert, Patton, Pa.; Lloyd, Ruth, Wesley, Harry and Burton, all of Clymer, 
Pa., and Mrs. Andrew Lescoven of Grass Flat, Pa.
The funeral service will be held at the late home Tuesday evening, September 
27, at 7 o'clock in charge of Mr. Barger's pastor, the Rev.  James Taylor of 
Mount Union.  The funeral cortege will leave the home Wednesday morning at 
10:30 o'clock for Woodland, Pa., where service will be held at 2:00 o'clock.  
Interment in Bradford cemetery.  Friends may call at the home until 10 
o'clock Wednesday.  Green's funeral service.

MRS. LAURA BURLEY, 7TH WARD RESIDENT, EXPIRES IN HOSPITAL

Mrs. Laura (Kissell) Burley, 47, of 514 Fronheiser Street,  Seventh Ward, a 
former well-known resident of Conemaugh, died at 7:15 o'clock last evening in 
Windber Hospital, where she became a patient last Saturday.
Mrs. Burley resided in Conemaugh for a number of years and when her husband, 
William Burley, died September 6, 1937, Mrs. Burley moved to the Seventh Ward 
to reside with her sister, Mrs. W. A. Miller.  A son Chester Burley died 16 
years ago.
Born in Seward, January 8, 1891, Mrs. Burley was a daughter of V. T. and 
Jennie Kissell.  Her parents resided in the Seventh Ward for many years and 
were among the best-known residents of that section.
Surviving are these brothers and sisters: Charles Kissell, Blairsville; Earl 
Kissell, 763 Central Avenue; Jay Kissell, 524 Ash Street; Mrs. Dora Kline, 
Geistown, and Mrs. Miller, with whom she resided.
The remains will be taken to the home of her sister, Mrs. Kline in Geistown, 
where funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon.  
Interment in Grandview Cemetery will be directed by the John Henderson 
Company.

MRS. MARY (KOENIG) BISHOP.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Bishop, 75, whose death occurred at 7.20 
o'clock yesterday morning at her home at 424 Benton Street, Kernville, will 
be conducted on Friday morning in St. Joseph's Catholic Church.  Interment in 
the church cemetery, Geistown, will be directed by Stephen J. Conway.  Her 
husband, John H. Bishop, died April 9, 1927.  Mrs. Bishop was born in Vienna, 
Austria, a daughter of Louis and Louisa (Falk) Koenig.  Miss Mary  Koenig and 
John R. Bishop were married on January 1, 1862,  in St. Joseph's Church.  
Surviving are these children:  Mary, wife of William Meyers, 735 Yoder 
Street; Amelia, wife of Edward McKenzie, 538 Robb Avenue; Louis R. Bishop, 
Trenton, Mich, Victor E. Bishop, Detroit, Mich, Robert E. Bishop, Lima, O.; 
Miss Marcella Bishop, New York City; John E.,  Ann, William and Frank Bishop, 
all at home.  Two other children, Joseph and Eleanor, died in infancy.  Two 
sons, Louis and William Bishop, served overseas in the World War.  Mrs. 
Bishop was a sister of Louis and Frank Koenig, both of Los Angeles, Cal., and 
of Mrs. Kate Friedhoff, Coleman Avenue, and John Koenig, Woodvale Avenue, 
Moxham.  Another sister, Mrs. Annie Partsch, wife of Charles R. Partsch, died 
May 8, 1934.  A brother William Koenig, died January 30, 1932.

ALICE I. GRAMLING, FORMER TEACHER IN DALE SCHOOLS, DIES

Seventh Ward Woman in Ill Health Nine Weeks; Funeral at 2:30 Wednesday

Mrs. Alice Idella Gramling, 66, well known resident of the Seventh Ward, and 
former teacher in Dale Borough schools, died yesterday at the home of her 
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin A. Miller of Geistown.
Death terminated an illness of nine weeks of a complication of ailments.  
Mrs. Gramling had made her home with a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. 
Bowman Gramling of 532 Fronheiser Street for 10 years and only a few weeks 
ago went to Geistown to reside at the Miller home.
A native of Somerset County, Mrs. Gramling was born in Jenners Township, 
April 26, 1872, a daughter of Peter J. and Catherine (Wiant) Bowman.  Mrs. 
Gramling taught school in Jenners Township for several years before moving to 
Johnstown and taking a position in Dale schools.
Her husband, Charles E. Gramling, died February, 1908.
Surviving are these children: Dora, wife of Herbert Mintmier, Conemaugh 
Township; Stella, wife of Guy L. Brown, Homestead Avenue, local contractor; 
Ethel, wife of Carl Bischoff, Wood Street; Ruth, wife of Lee Hummel, Wood 
Street, Bowman Gramling, Fronheiser Street, and Edith, wife of Franklin A. 
Miller, Geistown, supervising principal of Richland Township schools.
Mrs. Gramling also leaves 20 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a 
cousin, Mrs. Arthur Beam, who was reared by Mrs. Gramling's parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in 
First Evangelical Congregational Church by Rev. Ray Starr, pastor.  Interment 
in Grandview Cemetery will be directed by Fred Geisel, Dale Mortician.  The 
body will be taken to the church at 1:30 p.m. and may be viewed until the 
time set for the funeral.

HEART ATTACK IS FATAL TO VETERAN

Charles Clifford Gillette, sr., veteran of the World war, died suddenly at 
11:30 o'clock Sunday morning at his home, 525 Hickory street, Hollidaysburg, 
of a heart attack.  He was a son-in-law of William B. Reed, president of the 
Central Trust company in this city.
Mr. Gillette was born on Sept. 1, 1895, at Rushville, N. Y., a son of William 
Winifield Gillette and Mabel Olmstead Gillette.  He was an electrical 
engineer and was graduated from Bucknell university, Lewisburg, in 1917.  He 
was manager of the research department of the Pittsburgh Railways company, 
leaving this position in 1926 to become vice president of the Wheeling Public 
Service company.
In 1929 Mr. Gillette became manager of the Rockford Electric company, 
Rockford, Ill., later becoming chief engineer of the American States Public 
Service company.  At the time of his death he was employed by the 
Pennsylvania Edison company.
He had an excellet war record serving in the World war as captain of the 4th 
Infantry, 3rd division, United States army.  He served overseas for two years 
being for ten months with the army of occupation, stationed at Andernach.
Mr. Gillette was a member of the Mt. Lebanon Baptist church at Dormont, Pa., 
a member of the Shriners, Scottish Rite, and Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.
The survivors are his wife, Mrs. Camilla Bunker Reed Gillette, and the 
following children: Camilla B., Helen T., C. Clifford, jr., Priscilla H. and 
Sara, at home; also one sister and two brothers; Mrs. Cernon Hafler, Frank 
Gillette and William Gillette of New York state.

GILLETTE - Funeral services for Charles C. Gillette, sr., of 525 Hickory St., 
Hollidaysburg, will be held at the home at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon by 
Rev. J. G. Peters of the First Baptist church, assisted by Rev. R. Stacey 
Capers of the First Presbyterian church.  Interment in the Presbyterian 
cemetery.  Friends being received at the home.

MRS. GALLOWAY, 85, OF COALPORT EXPIRES

Mrs. Eliza Galloway, 85, of Coalport, a Gold Star Mother, died Friday at her 
home after an extended illness.
She was born in England, July 23, 1853, and came to this country abut 70 
years ago.  Her husband, Thomas Galloway, died a number of years ago.
Surviving are these children: Mrs. Mary Call, Altoona; Mrs. Elizabeth Shore, 
Coalport, and Annie and Thomas Galloway, both at home.
Mrs. Galloway was a sister of William Jasper, Johnstown; Mrs. Sara Gradwell, 
Conemaugh; Robert Jasper and Mrs. Ella Holmes, both of Coalport.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at the Galloway home.  
Interment will be in a Coalport cemetery.

GALLOWAY-Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Galloway will be conducted on 
Dec. 20 at 1:30 p.m. at her home in Blair City, in charge of her pastor, Rev. 
Tuton, of the Presbyterian church.  Interment will be made in the Coalport 
cemetery.  The body may be viewed at the home.

FRANCIS J. GARB, 22, of rear 389 Moore Street, died at 9:40 o'clock last 
night in Memorial Hospital, where he became a patient June 8.  He underwent 
an operation the following day and apparently was well on the road to 
recovery when he suffered a relapse yesterday.  Mr. Garb was an employe of 
the Cambria Plant, Bethlehem Steel Company.  He was a son of Julius and 
Sophia (Kudasik) Garb.  Besides his parents, Mr. Garb leaves these brothers 
and sister:  Stanley, at home; Josephine, wife of George Bobosky, 505 Plum 
Street; Anna, wife of Joseph Breznaik, New York City, and Helen, wife of 
William Mtanish, Chicago, Ill.  Funeral arrangements are in charge of Stephen

HOMER CITY PLANT FOREMAN STRICKEN

Lawrence Lowe, 48, Falls Dead from Heart Attack in Indiana Bowling Alley

Lawrence Lowe, 48, of Homer City, a foreman for the Syntron Company at Homer 
City, fell dead at 10 o'clock last night a few minutes after he had stepped 
into a bowling alley in the basement of the Indiana Theater Building, 
Indiana.
Three physicians were summoned but efforts to revive the man proved futile.  
Coroner John Woods said death was due to a heart attack.
Lowe's wife, Florence, was outside in their parked car when he collapsed.
Mr. Lowe had lived in Homer City only a few months.  He had moved to the 
Indiana County town from Pittsburgh when the Syntron firm moved its plant 
from Pittsburgh to Homer City.  The company makes electrical fixtures.
The body was taken to the Robinson Funeral Home, Indiana.

EVAN LONG, 79, of Indiana, died at 12.20 o'clock yesterday afternoon in 
Brookville Hospital.  He had been ill for two months.  Mr. Long moved to 
Brookville August 1 to reside with a daughter, Mrs. F. C. McFadden.  A native 
of Indiana county, he was born in Rayne Township February 8, 1859.  He 
resided in Indiana for 31 years and previously operated a farm in Rayne 
Township.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Indiana.  
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth (Walker) Long, and these children:  
C. I. Long, Greensburg; Mrs. F. C. McFadden, Brookville; Mrs. J. Howard 
Kocher, Martins Ferry, O.  She also leaves a sister, Mrs. William Schurr, 
Rayne Township, and seven grandchildren.  Funeral services will be conducted 
at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the Robinson Fuenral Home, Indiana, by

MRS. ANNA MARY LAUGHLIN

Wife of Harry Laughlin of 205 North Fifth street, Youngwood, and a former 
resident of Altoona, died at her home at 2.30 o'clock this morning.  Mr. 
Laughlin was formerly foreman of the East Altoona roundhouse and was serving 
in a similar capacity in Youngwood.  Mrs. Laughlin was 55 years of age.  
Surviving are her husband, one son, Charles W. Laughlin, at home; two 
brothers and one sister, William P. Green of Leechburg, George M. of Altoona 
and Mrs. Bertha Anderson of Atlantic City, N. J.  She was a member of the 
Youngwood Methodist church and Dames of Malta.  The body will be brought to 
Altoona and may be viewed at the Tobias & Laughlin funeral home after 6 
o'clock Saturday evening.

JOHN HENRY LANDIS, 69, a former resident of Meyersdale, died Thursday at his 
home in Painted Post, N. Y., where he had lived only a few weeks.  Mr. Landis 
resided in Meyersdale for more than 40 years and moved to New York State 
about a month ago.  His wife died about 20 years ago.  Surviving are four 
children.  The remains were brought to Meyersdale Saturday night and taken to 
the Landis home in High Street, where funeral services will be conducted at 
noon today.  Rev. B. A. Black, D. D., of Meyersdale, will officiate.  
Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Meyersdale.

ALEXANDER LAWRENCE.  Funeral services for Alexander Lawrence, 66 of 
Marsteller, who died at 11:45 o'clock Monday night in Miners Hospital,

Rev. C. Clyde Levergood, pastor.  Interment in the church cemetery will be 
directed by J. Edward Stevens, Carrolltown mortician.  Mr. Lawrence had been 
in poor health since last October.  He was a miner in the Marsteller region 
for many years.  Born in England, Mr. Lawrence was brought to this country as 
a child.  The family located near Philipsburg.  At 10 years of age he entered 
the mines and had followed that occupation since.  He retired several years 
ago.  Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Anna (Abrams) Lawrence, and 13 children 
as follows:  Arthur, Seminole, Pa.; William, Spangler; Richard of Bakerton; 
Mrs. William Gilmore, Auburn, N. Y.; Alexander, jr., Detroit; John, also of 
Detroit; Mrs. Tony Shersky, Bakerson; Mrs. Philip Wilson, Nanty Glo; Mrs. 
Charles Speath, Colver; Mrs. James Laird and Mrs. Wesley Peel, Marsteller,

Avenue, Indiana, after an illness of several months of a complication of 
ailments.  Mrs. Livingston was born in Minersville, Schuykill County, May 12, 
1875, and moved to Indiana 31 years ago.  She resided in Blairsville for 
several years before moving to Indiana.  Surviving are her husband, C. Frank 
Livingston, and six children:  Charles F., Clairton; Earl F., Johnstown; 
Beryle E., Greensburg; Mrs. R. M. Fee and Mrs. Glenn Hammers, both of 
Indiana, and Miss Helen Livingston, at home.  Mrs. Livingston and Merle

Schrumm, Loretto; Mrs. Homer Fisher and Mrs. Harry Rager, both of

FALL PROVES FATAL TO INDIANA WOMAN

Mrs. Mary Frances Luzier, 80, formerly of Indiana Borough, died in Indiana 
Hospital at 6:45 o'clock last evening of shock and a complication of ailments 
incident to a fracture of the right thigh suffered November 15, at the 
Indiana County Home in White Township, where she was a resident.  Mrs. Luzier 
was admitted to the hospital November 17.  Coronor John Woods of Indiana 
County was informed that Mrs. Luzier fell in the County Home Building.  She 
entered the home June 17.  The deceased was the widow of Elmer E. Luzier, who 
passed away several years ago.  She is survived by two daughters, one 
residing in Indiana and one in Starford.  The remains have been taken in 
charge by the Robinson Funeral Home.  Arrangements for the funeral have not 
been completed.

MICHAEL LOKSA, 64, a former resident of Johnstown, died at 1 o'clock 
yesterday afternoon at the Cambria County Home, near Ebensburg, where he had 
been residing for several years.  Death was attributed to a heart ailment.  
Mr. Loksa was born in Czechoslovakia and came to this country 30 years ago.  
He had been unable to work since being injured in an accident 20 years ago in 
the old Cambria Iron Company mills here.  Both of his legs were broken in the 
accident.  Mr. Loksa was a member of St. John's Slovak Evangelical Lutheran 
Church, Cambria City, and of the Slovak Evangelical Union Lodge, No. 197.  
Surviving are a son, Michael, jr., Beaver Falls, and a brother, John Loksa, 
living in Europe.  Funeral services will be conducted in St. John's Slovak 
Lutheran Church.  Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.  Respects may be 
paid at the Baretinolo Funeral Home.

JOHN F. MALOY

DEATH ENDS LONG ILLNESS OF CITY THEATRE MANAGER

John Francis Maloy, better known as Jack during the eighteen years of his 
residence in Altoona, died at the home of his mother, Mrs. Sarah Maloy, in 
Utica, N. Y., at 4.30 o'clock this morning after an extended period of 
illness.
Mr. Maloy came to Altoona in November 1924, as manager of the Orpheum theatre 
for the Wilmer & Vincent interests.  In February 1925, he took over the 
Mishler theatre and in the fall of the same year the State theatre, for his 
company.
Early in 1934 he was named district representative of the Wilmer & Vincent 
company, adding the supervision of the Embassy theatre in Johnstown to his 
local duties.  His direction continued until his health became seriously 
affected early this year.
Mr. Maloy returned to his home in Utica late in March of this year, hoping 
the change might benefit his health.
During his residence in Altoona he became well known for his civic interest 
and participation in all things tending to benefit the community.  He was a 
member of the Kiwanis club and took a prominent part in the organization's 
boy welfare program and health farm.  His interest included orphans at the 
St. Johns' and St. Mary's institutions at Cresson, for whom he arranged many 
outings and theatre parties.  One of his greatest pleasures derived from 
annual Christmas parties to less fortunate children.
Born in Utica, N. Y., on April 25, 1887, Mr. Maloy had been associated with 
the Wilmer & Vincent corporation for the past thirty-two years, serving in a 
managerial capacity for the past twenty-one years.  He began his career as a 
candy boy in the Wilmer & Vincent theatre in Utica, gaining promotion to 
usher, head usher, assistant treasurer, treasurer and assistant manager 
there.  In 1919 he was sent to Allentown as city manager for the corporation, 
coming from there to Altoona.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Sarah Maloy; four brothers and two 
sisters, Bernard, Francis, Thomas C., William, Mrs. Jay McLaughlin and Mrs. 
Cecil Sperry, all of Utica, N. Y.  His father, John F. Maloy is deceased.
Mr. Maloy was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, the Knights 
of Columbus, Kiwanis club and Altoona lodge, No. 102, of the Elks, while a 
resident of Altoona.  His funeral will be held in Utica at 9 o'clock Thursday 
morning.

LAWRENCE McGUIRE, 39, WILMORE, KILLED INSTANTLY AS CAR HITS UNDERPASS

One man was killed and eight others injured, two of them severely, in highway 
crashes in this district over the weekend.  Reports from State Motor Police 
substations showed that one arrest was made as a result of an accident.
WILMORE MAN KILLED
Lawrence D. McGuire, 39, former employe of the Penn Traffic Company here, was 
killed instantly at 10:10 p.m. Saturday when the car in which he was riding 
crashed into an arch of a railroad underpass on Route 53 two miles south of 
Portage.
McGuire, son of B. C. J. McGuire of Wilmore, suffered a fracture of the skull 
and fracture of the right cheekbone, according to Coroner Patrick McDermott.
Two other occupants of the machine, also were injured in the crash.  Pvts. N. 
K. Angeloni and A. M. Cox of the Ebensburg substation listed them as Nick 
Asashon, Fisher Hotel, Portage, bruises, and A. H. Long, also of Portage, 
lacerations of the scalp and cuts of the forehead.  Long was treated by Dr. 
S. D. Boucher of Portage.
Officers said Asashon told them he lost control of the machine as it rounded 
a turn leading into the underpass.  Damage to the car was placed at $500. 
Coroner McDermott said an inquest would be held at the conclusion of the 
police investigation.

McGuire, unmarried, had been living in Wilmore for the last three years and 
prior to that had been employed at Montgomery Ward & Company store at Rome, 
N. Y.  For 10 years, from 1919 to 1929, he worked in the men's furnishings 
department of Penn Traffic store and later was assistant manager of a similar 
department in the former Montgomery Ward & Company store here.  He was 
graduated from Wilmore High School with the class of 1929.
His mother, Mrs. Lucinda (Robaugh) McGuire, passed away in 1935.
Survivng are the father and these brothers and sisters: G. R. McGuire, 
Latrobe; Mrs. Anna Burkey and L. W. McGuire, Johnstown; Joseph and John 
McGuire, Conemaugh; Mrs. E. M. Sellers,  Hollidaysburg; Mrs. Rose 
Livingstone, Pittsburgh; Paul and Edward F. McGuire, Wilmore.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Bartholomew's 
Church, Wilmore, by Rev. Father George Quinn, pastor.  Interment will be in

HARRY C. MOWERY

Harry C. Mowery, aged 56 years 5 months, 23 days, widely known Lewistown 
resident, was found dead in bed at this home, 133 Logan street, Lewistown, 
Tuesday morning, Sept. 27, 1938, at 6:45 o'clock.  He had apparently died 
about two hours earlier while sleeping alone in a rear room while his wife 
slept in another room.  She discovered her husband cold in death.  Two weeks 
ago he did his last work as a painter but he was up and around on the day 
before his death and did not complain about being seriously ill, although his 
appetite had failed him.
Born in Ferguson Valley, April 4, 1882, he was a son of George Henry and 
Martha Shehan Mowery, both dead.  He leaves his wife, Fay Yearick Mowery, and 
two sons and five daughters: George M. Mowery, of Lewistown; Joseph K. 
Mowery, at home; Mrs. John (Pearl) Snyder, Huntingdon; Mrs. Paul (Corinne) 
Graffius, of Lewistown; Mrs. Albert (Levesta) Herbster, of Lewistown; Misses 
Thelma and Lois Mowery, at home.  Seven grandchildren are among the 
survivors.
Two half sisters are living; Mrs. Clarence (Hazel) Shirk, Long Branch, N. J., 
and Mrs. Anna Harshbarger, Lewistown Heights.
He was a member of First Methodist church and Bible class of Lewistown, 
taught by his pastor, Rev. George E. Johnson.  He was also a member of Wesley 
Male Chorus of the church.
Early in his life he became a charter member of City Hook and Ladder Fire 
Company 4, of Lewistown.  For many years he was an employe of Standard Steel 
Works, Burnham and of American Viscose Corporation until 11 years ago when he 
became a painter.  During recent years he was a partner of the last Charles 
W. Hartzell on painting contracts.

EMORY B. McDONALD

Of 1306 Second street, died at 6 o'clock this morning at the Cresson 
sanatorium.  He was born in Altoona on July 5, 1903, a son of Albert B. and 
Margaret (Spalding) McDonald and had served as assistant manager of a hotel 
at Reboboth Beach.  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Caroline E. (King) McDonald; 
his parents and one sister, Mrs. Ethel G. Colby.  Mr. McDonald was a member 
of the Bethany Lutheran church and of the Hotel Greeters association.  The 
body may be viewed at the home.

MRS. OLLIE MOHLER, 85, died at 7:30 o'clock last evening at the home of her 
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Guiher of Johnstown R. D. 4, 
Arbury Park.  Mrs. Mohler was born in Cumberland, Md., but had resided in 
Somerset County for a number of years.  Her husband, John Mohler, died 15 
years ago.  Surviving are these children:  Anna, wife of John Guiher, with 
whom she resided; Elsie, wife of Porter Saas; Lillian, Wife of I. O. Hamer; 
Blanche, wife of Conrad Gerhardt and Frank Mohler, all of Chicago, Ill.  Mrs. 
Mohler also leaves 12 grandchildren.  The remains may be viewed at the Guiher 
home.  Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Meek Funeral Home of 
Windber.

FRANCIS A. MILLER

Francis A. Miller died Sunday, Jan. 30, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. 
Blair Hyde, near Buffalo Mills, at the age of 85 years and 29 days.  He had 
been blind for some years.  Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday 
afternoon, Revs. G. I. Melhorn of Bedford and H. M. Petrea of Schellsburg 
officiating.  Interment in the cemetery adjoining the Lybarger Lutheran 
Church at Madley in charge of W. A. Miller, Mortician of Manns Choice.
Deceased was a son of Josiah and Eliza (Kershner) Miller and was born in that 
section Jan. 3, 1853.  He was married to Jennie Emerick, who passed away Nov. 
14, aged 81 years.  Surviving are the following children:  Mrs. Zuella Hyde 
of Buffalo Mills, Mrs. Estella Cook of Hyndman, Howard of New Jersey and 
Orrie V. Miller of Bedford.

MRS. WILKINSON, 28, DIES IN SCALP LEVEL

Mrs. Dorothy (Dietz) Wilkinson, 28, a former teacher in the Paint Township 
schools, died at 5 o'clock Saturday evening at the home of her parents, 
Robert S. and Bertha (Webner) Dietz of 503 Bedford Street, Scalp Level.  Mrs. 
Wilkinson's health had been impaired for the last three months.
She was graduated from Windber High School with the class of 1927 and from 
Indiana Teachers College in 1929.
Besides her parents, she leaves her husband, George Wilkinson, and a sister, 
Madge, wife of Edgar Ellenberger of Cresson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the 
Dietz home by Rev. S. R. Shieb, pastor of Velenia Evangelical Church, a 
former pastor of the Scalp Level Lutheran Church.  Interment in Richland 
Cemetery will be directed by Lloyd Shank of Scalp Level.

JAMES S. WINTERS

James Stanley Winters, a lifelong resident of Birmingham, died in the Altoona 
hospital on Christmas afternoon at 12:25 o'clock following a three years' 
illness with diabetes.
Mr. Winters was born at Birmingham on April 7, 1917, the son of William and 
Agnes (Webner) Winters.  On February 9, 1932, at Hollidaysburg, he was united 
in marriage with Miss Ella Fike.
He is survived by his mother, wife, two daughters and one son: Barbara, Mary 
Lou and James, Jr.; also two brothers and two sisters, Jess Winters, Samuel 
Winters, Mrs. Albert Nixon, Marie Winters, all of Birmingham; also four half-
brothers and one half-sister; Earl Winters, Ellsworth Winters, of Altoona; 
Percy Winters, of Birmingham; Harry Shenefelt and Mary Shenefelt of Tyrone.
He was a member of the Birmingham Methodist Episcopal church.

DONALD DAVID WOLF

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald L. Wolf of 507 Jones street, Hollidaysburg, died 
at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon in Mercy hospital where he was admitted on 
Monday in a serious condition, suffering from tetanus.  He was taken ill last 
Friday evening.  The child was born in State College on May 12, 1929, a son 
of Donald L. and Wilma (Keiper) Wolf.  Surviving are the parents and one 
brother, Daniel Howard Wolf, aged 4 months.  His father is a teacher of 
mathematics in the Hollidaysburg High school, the family having moved to 
Hollidaysburg five years ago.  The child was a member of the Church of the 
Brethren Sunday school and attended the fourth grade of the Hillcrest school.  
The body may be viewed at the home after 8 o'clock this evening.

MRS. MARY A. WESTWOOD, 66, of Cuyahoga Falls, O., died of a heart ailment 
Tuesday at the home of her cousin, Mrs. James H. Parks, Beaverdale, where she 
had been visiting for the last month.  The remains were shipped to the Ohio 
town Wednesday and burial took place yesterday in Oakwood Cemetery in 
Cuyahoga Falls.

PERRY R. WOLFORD

Perry R. Wolford of Cumberland, aged 74 years, was found dead last Thursday 
afternoon, Aug. 11, his body hanging from a small tree in the Mapleside 
section.  That was the second suicide within thirty hours in Cumberland.
He was a son of Samuel and Amanda (Willison) Wolford and married to Ida 
Ritchey, formerly of this place.  Besides his wife, he leaves four children, 
- Mary Ellen and Elizabeth, at home; Olney of Kent, O., and Ritchey Wolford 
of Rt. 3, Cumberland.  Also, three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Wolford Funeral Home, 
Cumberland, and interment made at Green Meadow cemetery at Murley's Branch.

WAYNE LAMONT WEAVER

Wayne Lamont Weaver, the infant son of Chester J. Weaver and Margaret Helen 
Bair Weaver, died at his home in East Saxton, November 17, cause of death, 
complications.
He was born May 1, 1938 in Liberty township, Bedford County, aged 5 months, 
16 days.
He is survived by his parents and one brother, Chester Weaver, Jr.
Funeral services will be held in the Huff funeral chapel Saturday afternoon 
at 2:00 o'clock.  Reverend William Sheetz will officiate, interment in the 
Odd Fellows Cemetery, Saxton, Pa.

JOSIAH WEIMER, 73, a farmer of Monroe Township, near Everett, Bedford County, 
died yesterday morning at his home after an extended illness of a 
complication of ailments.  Born in Bedford County, October 11, 1864.  Mr. 
Weimer was a son of William and Elizabeth (Nyium) Weimer.  His wife, Mrs. 
Ruth (Sparks) Weimer, died in May, 1933.  Mr. Weimer leaves a brother, Eli 
Weimer, Clearville, Bedford County, and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Hackert, 
Marcus, Ia.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock tomorrow 
afternoon in the Clearville Union Church.  Interment in the church cemetery 
will be directed by M. J. Maust.  Everett mortician.

MRS. MARY JEANNETTE (HILTY) WHITACRE, 78, widow of Nelson L. Whitacre, died 
at 5:11 o'clock yesterday morning at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, 
Mrs. and Mrs. Harry B. Streams, Rayne Township.  Death terminated an illness 
of several years.  Mrs. Whitacre was born in Westmoreland County, March 1, 
1880, but moved to Indiana County many years ago.  Her husband died in 1936.  
Surviving are three children: I. Nelson Whitacre, Indiana; W. E. Whitacre, 
Kittanning, and Mrs. Harry B. Streams, with whom she resided.  Mrs. Whitacre 
was a sister of Joseph Hilty, Apollo; E. A. Hilty, Vandergrift; William J. 
Hilty, Youngstown, O.; James C. Hilty, Rural Valley, Armstrong County; and 
Mrs. O. O. Walker, also of Rural Valley.  Funeral services will be conducted 
at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Harry B. Streams residence.  
Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana will be directed by Robinson Funeral 
Home, Indiana.

FULTON COUNTY MAN KILLED

Henry Wilson, an 80 year-old farmer of Clear Ridge, Fulton County, was killed 
in an auto accident near Ft. Littleton on Nov. 13, when two cars collided 
head-on.  He was riding in the front seat of a car driven by Harry Mort, 64, 
also of Clear Ridge and when the collision occurred the windshield glass was 
broken and his head was wedged in it.  His skull was fractured and death was 
instant.  Mrs. Mort sustained compound fractures of both legs.
The other car was operated by Donald Cromer of Ft. Littleton, 21, who was 
held for an inquest.  His companion, Warren Locke, 12, suffered concussion.  
Mrs. Mort, Wilson and the boy were taken to the Waynesboro hospital.

MRS. MOLLIE WENGERT

Wife of Charles Harvey Wengert of 209 East Fourth avenue, died at 12.30 
o'clock yesterday afternoon at the family home.  She was a daughter of J. L. 
and Annie Dilling, deceased, and was born at Martinsburg, Oct. 22, 1874.  She 
was married at Freedricksburg, March 6, 1900.  Surviving are the husband, 
three sons, and one daughter, as follows: Charles, Jay, Carl and Mrs. Anna 
Corl, and one sister, Mrs. C. B. Dilling of Altoona, along with three 
grandchildren.  Mrs. Wengert was a member of the First Church of the Brethren 
and the Truthseekers Sunday school class.  She was a past president and 
present secretary of the Altoona chapter of War Mothers, state chairman of 
the magazine committee, Pennsylvania department of War Mothers and a member 
of the Sunshine society.  Thee body can be viewed at the home.

CHARLES C. WOLFE

Charles C. Wolfe of Salemville died July 5 at his home of a complication of 
diseases having been ill for 15 years.  He was born at Salemville Dec. 20, 
1874, a son of John and Susan Wolfe, and united in marriage with Minnie 
Shriner.  She survives together with one daughter, Miss Huldah Wolfe of 
Altoona, and Mrs. Hazel Gochnour, also of Altoona, who was raised in the 
home.

Deceased was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church, where he had been a 
teacher, chorister and deacon for a number of years.  Funeral services were 
conducted yesterday afternoon by Rev. Frank R. King at the church and 
interment made in the adjoining cemetery.
