STEEL WORKER IS FATALLY INJURED

John J. Baker, Aged 42, of 2729 Washington Avenue, Dies After Being Struck by
Steel Girder.

John J. Baker, aged 42, a steel worker residing at 2729 Washington avenue,

the hoisting cable broke.

minutes before 9 o'clock. The hospital ambulance was summoned but Baker
expired of his injuries before reaching the institution.
Witnesses to the accident said that the man was first struck by the beam and
was thrown from his position on the wall to the basement of the building,
approximately ten feet below. An examination by physicians at the hospital
revealed, in addition to the skull fracture, a possible broken right leg
received in falling to the floor below.
Coroner C. C. Rothrock of this city was summoned and is making an
investigation of the fatality.
