OBITUARIES:

James Edward Holliday Jr.
   (ROANOKE) James Edward "Phil" Holliday Jr., 34, of Roanoke, died Saturday, 
April 1, 2006, at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital, Valley.
   Services will be Wednesday, April 5, at 1 p.m. at Rock Mills Baptist Church, 
with the Rev. Jerone Fannin and the Rev. Elijah Jackson Jr. officiating. Burial 
will be in the church cemetery.
   Survivors include his father, James E. Holliday Sr. of Roanoke; his mother, 
Peggy Trammell of Roanoke; a son, Shavar Holliday of Roanoke; a brother, Rodney 
Holliday of Auburn; a sister, Tamika Holliday of Auburn; five aunts; five 
uncles; and three nieces.
   The body will be placed in the church one hour before services.

Jonathan Coty Brown

   (WEDOWEE) Services for Jonathan Coty Brown, 18, of Wedowee will be Wednesday, 
April 5, 2006, at 3 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, with the Rev. Wayne 
Pike officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
   Mr. Brown died Monday, April 3, at his home.
   Mr. Brown is survived by his parents, Chasey and Lynn Brown of Wedowee; his 
paternal grandparents, Jack and Sandra Brown of Wedowee; his maternal 
grandparents, Linda and Johnny Talley of LaGrange, Ga.; grandfather, Ted Herren 
of Valley; great-grandfather, Lum Pierce Whaley; and one sister, Kasey Brown of 
Wedowee.
   Pallbearers will be Josh Sprayberry, Wallace Crouch, Ian Taylor, Cory Whaley, 
Chad Whaley and Storm Foster.
   Mr. Brown was born April 23, 1987. He was a member of Open Door Baptist 
Church and a student at Southern Union. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his 
great-grandmother, Lonetta Whaley.

Allen Todd Short

   (HEFLIN) Services for Allen Todd Short, 17, of Heflin were Sunday, April 2, 
2006, at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Church of Christ, with Bro. Allen Daniel and Bro. 
Ricky Murphy officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
   Mr. Short died Thursday, March 30, in Heflin.
   Survivors include his mother, Terri Spradlin Short of Heflin; his father, 
Dale Short of Mobile; his grandmothers, Maudine Short of Lineville and Ruth 
Spradlin of Heflin; two sisters, Emily McCollum of Grove Hill and Alicia 
Thompson of Owensboro, Ky.; one nephew; one niece; two aunts and two uncles.
   Pallbearers were Dustin Turley, Cody Bean, Phillip Hughes, Tyler Hughes, 
Frankie Green, Tim Flemings and Benji Green.
   Mr. Short was born Aug. 16, 1988, son of Dale Short and Terri Spradlin Short. 
He was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ and attended the 11th grade at 
Cleburne County High School. He was preceded in death by grandfathers Horace 
Spradlin and Len Short.

Elsie Moses Harlin

   (LEXINGTON, Ky.) Elsie Moses Harlin, wife of Thomas Frederick Harlin, died 
Friday, March 31, 2006.
   Mrs. Harlin was born in Roanoke, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. B. 
Moses.  She attended Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky., and later earned 
degrees from Auburn University. Doctoral studies were done at the University of 
Kentucky where she earned an Ed. D. degree. Mrs. Harlin was employed for five 
years as a clinical psychologist by the Alabama Department of Human Resources in 
Montgomery. Later she was in private practice for five years. After moving to 
Lexington, she taught at the University of Kentucky and was part-time consultant 
to the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Later, she became director of a 
school-related clinic in Winchester, Ky., and continued as a consulting 
psychologist for 25 years.
   She was a member of Central Christian Church for 36 years and Crestwood 
Christian Church since 1996. She belonged to a number of professional 
organizations and civic groups. She held membership in the: American 
Psychological Association, National Association of School Psychologists, 
Southeastern Association for Psychologists and Kentucky Association for 
psychologists. She was active in the Newcomers Garden Club, Bluegrass Miniature 
Society, National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts, Landsdowne Homemakers 
Club and Central Kentucky Women's Club.
   In addition to her husband, survivors include one son, Philip W. Harlin; two 
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, 
Edward "Mickey" Moses; and her sister, Mrs. Lynn M. Osen.
   Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Quattlebaum 
Funeral Home, Roanoke, with burial at 1 p.m. in Lebanon Christian Church 
Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Crestwood Christian Church, 1882 
Bellefonte Dr., Lexington, KY 40503; Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria 
Dr., Lexington, KY 40504; or Lebanon Christian Church.

Dereck Lewis Copeland

   (RIVERDALE, Ga.) Dereck Lewis Copeland, 31, of Riverdale, Ga., died Saturday, 
March 25, 2006.
   Funeral services were Friday, March 31, at 1 p.m. at Rehope Baptist Church in 
LaFayette with the Rev. H.L. Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion 
Cemetery in Fredonia.
   Mr. Copeland is survived by his wife, Takelin Copeland of Atlanta; two sons, 
Dereck Copeland Jr. and Keenan Copeland of Atlanta; three daughters, Asia 
Copeland, Amber Copeland and Che'april Wilder, all of Atlanta; his parents, the 
Rev and Mrs. Sanford Johnson of Five Points; eight sisters, Anita Holloway-
Robinson of Lanett, Phyllis Christian of Boston, Mass., Marilyn Monroe of 
Killen, Texas, Angela Lathan of Augusta, Ga., Tijuana Johnson of Roanoke, 
LaDonna Bazziel of Gary, Ind., Chiquita Watson of Birmingham and Quoneisha 
Copeland of Atlanta; and one brother, Willie Bivins Jr. of Viersen, Germany.
   Mr. Copeland was born Oct. 4, 1974, in Fulton County, Ga.

Carrie Lee Vaughn Rice

   (ROANOKE) Services for Carrie Lee Vaughn Rice, 57, of Roanoke were Tuesday, 
April 4, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Union Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Len Martin 
officiating. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery.
   Mrs. Rice died Saturday, April 1, at her home.
   Survivors include her husband, Michael Rice of Roanoke; one daughter, Melissa 
Lee Henry of Opelika; one son, Matthew Rice of Roanoke; her mother, Sara Whaley 
Vaughn; eight sisters, Rosa Lee Brown, Cathy Wortham, Elsie Adamson, Ruby Vaughn 
and Helen Vaughn, all of Wedowee, and Sylvia Creed, Marthan Newman and Marie 
Waldrep, all of Roanoke; two brothers, William Vaughn of Lanett and Donald 
Vaughn of Wedowee; and one grandchild.
   Pallbearers will be [were] Bret Hudson, Keith Wortham, Ronnie Lee Rice, 
Ronnie Creed, Mark Newman and Roy Wortham.
   A Randolph County native, Mrs. Rice was born Dec., 20, 2948, daughter of 
William David and Sara Whaley Vaughn. She was a member of Union Hill Baptist 
Church. She was preceded in death by her father, William David Vaughn.

Eltis Graham Cummins

   (ROANOKE) Services for Eltis Graham Cummins, 93, of Roanoke were Friday, 
March 31, 2006, at 1 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ed Grooms 
officiating.
  Mrs. Cummins died Wednesday, March 29, at Portsbridge Hospice, Riverdale, Ga.
   Survivors include two sisters, Juliet Peterson of Montgomery and Wylodene 
Bates of Roanoke; and two brothers, James A. Graham of Roanoke and Charles B. 
Graham of Atlanta.
   Mrs. Cummins was born March 10, 1913, daughter of John Robert and Dovie 
Odessa Lester Graham. She was a member of Lowell United Methodist Church and had 
worked for the U.S. Government in the Small Business Administration. Flowers 
will be accepted or donations may be made to Lowell United Methodist Church.

Harvey Robert Brown, 101

   (VALLEY) Harvey Robert Brown, 101, of Valley died Sunday, April 2, 2006, at 
Lanier Memorial Nursing Home in Valley.
   Services were Tuesday, April 4, at 2 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service  Funeral 
Home in Valley with the Rev. Gary Cotney officiating. Burial followed at Beulah 
Cemetery.
   Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Jewell Brown of Valley; four sons, Walter 
R. Brown and Ben Brown of Valley, Herman Brown of Wedowee and Lee Brown of 
Lanett; three daughters, Julia B. Saylor of Valley, Cynthia Sorrells of Cusseta 
and Rose Shirley of Talladega; four stepchildren; one sister, Ethyl Thrift of 
the Pine Grove community; one brother, Billy Brown of Valley; a host of 
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and a host of 
nieces and nephews.
   Born Aug. 16, 1904, in Harris County, Ga., Mr. Brown was the son of the late 
Andrew J. Brown and Julia Stargill Brown. He loved fishing, farming and watching 
the Braves on television. Mr. Brown enjoyed spending time with his family and 
friends. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Brown was preceded in 
death by his wife, Lois Harrington Brown.

Mildred 'Mickey' Heptinstall

   (Dacula, Ga.) Mildred "Mickey" Heptinstall, 84, of Dacula, Ga., formerly of 
Lanett, died Friday, March 31, 2006, in Lawrenceville, Ga.
   Graveside services were Monday, April 3, at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in 
Lanett.
   Mrs. Heptinstall is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Edwards of Dacula; her 
son, David Heptinstall of Sylacauga; one brother, John Thomas Brown of Roanoke; 
six sisters, Marie Richardson of Newnan, Ga., Barbara Jean Vogel of Bangs, 
Texas, Lether Richardson of Dadeville, Fayerine Heard of Woodland, Mattie Chase 
of Roanoke and Thelma Lewis of Talladega; and three grandchildren.
   Mrs. Heptinstall was born in Randolph County on Aug. 11, 1921. She had been a 
resident of the Lanett area for most of her life. Mrs. Heptinstall enjoyed 
volunteering at two adult cancer camps. She was a retired employee of Chalkline 
Manufacturing. Mrs. Heptinstall was a member of Lanier Baptist Church. She was 
preceded in death by her husband, Sanford Heptinstall, and a sister, Linda 
Hansard.

Lawrence Allious Robinson

   (WEST POINT, Ga.) Lawrence Allious "L.A." Robinson, 64, of West Point, Ga., 
died Monday, March 27, 2006, at George H. Lanier Hospital in Valley.
   Mrs.[Mr.] Robinson was born Oct. 1, 1941, in Roanoke, son of the late L.C. 
and Florence Fetner Robinson. He was a graduate of Handley High School and had 
lived in Troup County since 1962. Mr. Robinson worked in the trucking industry 
for many years and managed G.E. Robinson Trucking until he retired. He was a 
member of Grace Baptist Church and was formerly a deacon of Western Heights 
Baptist Church. Mr. Robinson was a volunteer, coach and mentor to children for 
many years in Little League baseball, and also coached with the church and the 
Troup County Parks and Recreation.
   Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Patricia "Pat" Young Robinson of West 
Point; two sons, Tim Robinson of LaGrange and Terry Robinson of Tampa, Fla.; two 
daughters, Teresa Cadenhead of LaGrange and Tanya Elise Johnson of Orange Beach; 
12 grandchildren; a sister, Rudell Smith of Augusta, Ga.; two brothers, Gerson 
Robinson Sr. of LaGrange and Fetner Robinson of Melbourne, Fla.; a special 
caregiver, Telsey Alford of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews. He was 
preceded in death by a brother, V.L. Robinson; and a sister, Lena Conway.
   Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Baptist Church, with the Revs. 
Tommy Young, Scott Whaley and Dalton Hammock officiating. Interment will be in 
Meadoway Gardens.

   (ROANOKE) Services for Lee Hartwell Handley, 61, of Roanoke were Sunday,

   Mr. Handley died Thursday, March 31, 2006, at his home.
   Survivors include one daughter, Allyson Handley of Boulder, Colo.; and one 
son, Will Handley of Auburn.
   Mr. Handley was born September 15, 1944, son of William Anderson and Kathleen 
Smith Handley. He was a member of Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church and had been a 
self-employed chef. Mr. Handley had served in the United States Army during the 
Vietnam War.

   (ROANOKE) Services for Mary Ann Hamilton, 63, of Roanoke were Thursday, March

   Mrs. Hamilton died Tuesday, March 28, at Bethany House in Auburn.
   Survivors include two daughter[s], Angela Price of Roanoke and Joyce Hamilton 
Sprouse of West Point, Ga.; one son, Cecil Kenneth Hamilton of Rock Mills; two 
brothers, Awbrey Parrish of Wadley and William Joe Parrish of Rock Mills; eight 
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
   Pallbearers were Jamie Price, Mike Taylor, Joey Barber, Tim Cendric, Matthew 
Hamilton and Drew Murr. Honorary pallbearers will be [were]Danny Hamilton and 
Billy Pike.
   Mrs. Hamilton was born July 14, 1942, daughter of Curtis W. and Addie Lee 
Smith Parrish. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church and a retired 
seamstress with Roanoke Fashions. Mrs. Hamilton was preceded in death by her 
parents and one sister, Ramona Parrish.

   (RANBURNE) Services for David Braxford Swofford Jr. of Ranburne, 51, were 
Saturday, April 1, 2006, at 4 p.m. EST at Indian Creek Baptist Church with the 
Rev. Lanis White, James Benefield, Stoney Halsey and Frank Swinney officiating. 
Burial followed at the adjoining church cemetery.
   Mr. Swofford died Thursday, March 30, at his home.
   Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Nolen Swofford of Ranburne; one son, 
Michael David Swofford of Carrollton, Ga.; one grandchild; one sister, Peggy Ann 
Owens of Henry, Tenn.; and one brother, William Curtis Swofford of Bowdon, Ga.
   Pallbearers were Shane Swofford, Paul Owens, Shelton Rollins, Steve Tucker, 
John David Brown, Owen Lowery and Chris Ledbetter.  Honorary pallbearers will be 
[were] area law enforcement, area ministers, Jimmy Brown, Donnie Pollard and

   Mr. Swofford was born Sept. 20, 1954, son of David Braxford and Edna Louise 
Wiggins Swofford.  He was a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church and retired 
police chief for the City of Ranburne.  Mr. Swofford was preceded in death by 
his parents.

Pearl Bailey Green

  (ROANOKE) Services for Pearl Bailey Green, 97, of Roanoke will be Wednesday, 
April 12, 2006, at 1 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Robert B. 
Hurst officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Stand Congregational Christian 
Church Cemetery.
   Mrs. Green died Sunday, April 9, at Traylor Nursing Home.
   Survivors include one son, Bill Green of Huntsville; six grand-children; 17 
great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
   Pallbearers will be John Batte, Mike Adcock, David Green, Madison Blackwell, 
Doug Brumbeloe and Gordan Streeter.
   Mrs. Green was born Dec. 15, 1908, daughter of Robert "Rob" and Florella 
Walker Bailey. She was a member of Rock Stand Congregational Christian Church 
and had worked at Handley Mills. Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her 
parents; her husband, Willie Roe Green; one son, Robert Benson "Bobby" Green; 
one grandson; one great-grandson; one great-great-grandson; six brothers, and 
two sisters.

Alice Edith Davis

   (WEDOWEE) Alice Edith Davis, 92, a native of Cairo, Ga., long-time resident 
of Mobile, and more recently a resident of Ava Hills Assisted Living in Wedowee, 
died Wednesday, March 29, 2006.
   Mrs. Davis was a resident of Our Southern Home until she moved to Wedowee to 
be close to her daughter in July of 2005. She was a longtime faithful member of 
Satsuma United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, 
Marion D. Davis.
   Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Smith of Wedowee and Mary Alice Wood 
of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two sons, M.D. Davis Jr. of Tampa, Fla., and Clifford N. 
Davis of Clinton, Miss.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces, 
nephews and other relatives.
   Services were at the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Mobile on Friday, April 
7, at noon. Interment was in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Rudolph Clyatt Ragan

   (WADLEY) Rudolph Clyatt Ragan, 83, of Wadley died Wednesday, March 22, 2006, 
of esophageal cancer in Pleasanton, Calif.
   Mr. Ragan was a native of Jacksonville, Fla., born May 24, 1922. He was 
retired from the U.S. Air Force. He served in World War II and was a prisoner of 
war from May 6, 1942, until Sept. 7, 1945. He was preceded in death by his wife, 
Betty; a sister, Evelyn Bishop; and a brother, Clayton Ragan.
   Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth Doler of Wadley; a son, Bruce Ragan of 
Pleasanton, Calif.; a brother, William Ragan of Florida; three sisters, Vera 
Wilkinson and Sybil Brim of Florida and Hetty Craw of South Carolina; four 
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
   A memorial service will be held in Texas at a later date. Grissom's Funeral 
Home, San Ramon, Calif.

Mildred Folsom Coggins

   (ROANOKE) Services for Mildred Folsom Coggins, 71, of Roanoke were Saturday, 
April 8, 2006, at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel, with the Revs. Stoney Halsey and 
Cecil Halsey officiating. Burial followed at Forest Home Congregational 
Christian Church Cemetery.
   Mrs. Coggins died Thursday, April 6, at her home.
   Survivors include two daughters, Dianne Mitchell and Debbie Calhoun of 
Roanoke; one sister, Martha Johnson of Roanoke; six grandchildren; three great-
grandchildren; and her companion, Maylon n Phillips of Roanoke.
   Pallbearers were Maylon Phillips Jr., Stanley Sellers, Glenn Johnson, Donald 
Johnson, Steve Pike and Jerry Pike.
   Mrs. Coggins was born Jan. 31, 1935, daughter of Floyd and Iva Henry Folsom. 
She was a member of Forest Home Congregational Christian Church and had been 
manager of Subway for 10 years.  Mrs. Coggins was preceded in death by her 
husband, Albert Lee Coggins; one son, Floyd Smith; and one daughter, Iva Dale 
Phillips.

Warner Thomas Clark

   (ROANOKE) Services for Warner Thomas Clark, 70, of Roanoke were Thursday, 
April 6, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel, with Bro. Gerald Romine 
and Bro. Sam Carpenter officiating. Burial followed at Randolph Memory Gardens.
   Mr. Clark died Tuesday, April 4, at Wedowee Hospital. Survivors include his 
mother, Myrtie Brumbeloe Clark of Roanoke.
   Pallbearers were Paul Romine, Casey Carpenter, Timmy Morris, Mike Van Bibber, 
Harold Gross, Bruce Davis and Glenn Carpenter.
   Mr. Clark was born July 21, 1935, son of Emory M. and Myrtie Rae Brumbeloe 
Clark. He was a member of Roanoke Church of Christ and had been a structural 
engineer for Smith, Sherlock & Adams. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue 
Williams Clark.

Mary Rene' Thompson

   (WEDOWEE) Funeral services for Mary Rene' Thompson, 42, of Wedowee, were 
Saturday, April 8, 2006, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Clay County Funeral Home 
with Pastor Ronny Williams officiating. Burial followed in Clay County Memory 
Gardens.
   Mrs. Thompson died Wednesday, April 5, due to injuries suffered in an 
automobile accident.
   She was native of Jacksonville, Florida and had been a resident of Wedowee 
since 1997. She was a mother and homemaker.
   She is survived by her husband, Robert Dwayne Thompson; daughter, Maranda 
Thompson; three sons, Shane Thompson, Richard Thompson and Kyle Thompson, all of 
Wedowee; parents, Gary and Mary Craven, Lithia Springs, Ga.; and three sisters, 
Michelle Freeman of West Virginia, Melissa Hester, of Powder Springs, Ga., and 
Melinda Hill of Lithia Springs.
   Pallbearers were Richard Thompson, Mack White, Andy Nelson, Donald Bailey, 
Derrick Bozeman and Johnathon Walker.

   (ROANOKE) Services for Elizabeth Carter Johnson, 66, of Roanoke will be 
Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel, with the 
Rev. William Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.
  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on 
Wednesday.
   Mrs. Johnson died Monday, April 10, at Randolph Medical Center.
   Survivors include her mother, Dorothy B. Carter of Greenville, S.C.; one 
daughter, Rene Caldwell of LaGrange, Ga.; one son, Charlie Fred Johnson Jr. of 
Harvest, Ala.; one sister, Terry C. Morgan of Greenville, S.C.; one brother, 
Daniel R. Carter of Greenville, S.C.; six grandchildren and four great-
grandchildren.

   Mrs. Johnson was born Aug. 16, 1939, daughter of Malcolm and Dorothy Bennett

registered nurse for Randolph County Hospital. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in 
death by her husband, Charlie Fred Johnson; and her father, Malcolm Carter.

Shirley Faye Ross

   (CALERA) Shirley Faye Ross, 63, of Calera died Monday, April 10, 2006, in a 
local hospital.
   Services will be at Amazing Grace Worship Center on Wednesday at 1 p.m., with 
burial in Still Cemetery by Elliottsville. She will lie in state from 11 until 
the services. The Rev. Ray Smith will officiate.
   Mrs. Ross was preceded in death by her parents, Walton and Helen Davenport; 
and brothers Walt Jr. and Ricky Davenport. Survivors include her devoted 
husband, Tim; daughters Shirley Faye Ferguson of Dallas, Ga., and Reba Henson of 
Jemison; a son, Warren Allen Ross of Powder Springs, Ga.; sisters Dot Porter of 
Alabaster and Pat Bolin of Marietta, Ga.; brothers Jim "Peanut" Davenport of 
Sacramento, Calif., and Harold Davenport, Leonard Davenport and Larry Davenport 
of Alabaster; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other family 
members and many friends.
   Mrs. Ross worked for Randolph County High School for 10 years as custodian. 
Supt. Wayne Wortham said, "She gave away more than she made. Whatever those kids 
needed, she made sure they had."

Mary Lambert Colbert

   (LAGRANGE, Ga.) Mary Colbert, 85, of LaGrange, Ga., died Monday, April 10, 
2006, at Hospice LaGrange.
   Mrs. Colbert was born March 18, 1921, in Randolph County, daughter of the 
late Daniel Jefferson and Lee Edna Broach Lambert. She had lived in LaGrange 
most of her life and was retired from West Georgia Medical Center. Mrs. Colbert 
was a member of United Congregational Christian Church and was a charter member 
of Rosemont Baptist Church.
   Survivors include a son, John Colbert Jr. of LaGrange; a daughter, Esther 
Olivarez of Dale City, Va.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a 
brother, Richard Lambert of White, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. She was 
preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Cobert Sr.
   Services will be at 11 a.m. EDT Wednesday in the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel 
with the Revs. Paul Botica and Max McCord officiating. Interment will be in 
Shadowlawn Cemetery. The famiy[family] will receive friends at the funeral home 
from 10 until 11 before the service.

LaGrange; and two sisters, Patsy Diane Lawhorn and Elizabeth Elaine Synoground

Jacksonville for Joshua Wayne Morris, 26, of Lanett, who died Thursday, April 6,

p.m. on Sunday, April 9. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
   Mr. Morris was a lifelong Baptist and was employed at Mohawk (Amoco) 
Industries in Roanoke.
   He is survived by his parents, Clayton and Vickie Rollins Morris of Codlea, 
Romania, formerly of Calhoun County; his grandparents, Vaughn and Margaret 
Morris of Weaver and Frank and Margie Rollins of Oxford; aunts, uncles and 
cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Helen Morris, and 
his maternal grandmother, Pat Rollins.

   Mrs. Gleaton is survived by her husband, Wayne Gleaton; two daughters, Shelia 
Gleaton and Pam Young, both of Valley; one brother, Donald Buchanan of Jackson 
Gap; two sisters, Lois Shelnutt of Columbus and Doris Haynes of Lanett; and two 
grandsons.
   Born May 4, 1933, in Randolph County, Mrs. Gleaton was the daughter of the 
late Lois Duke Buchanan and John Buchanan. She loved to baby sit, work in her 
garden and spend time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Gleaton was preceded in death 
by her brothers, Colley Buchanan, Wayne Buchanan and Kevin Buchanan, and her 
sisters, Lillian Lewis and Evelyn Haynes.

Dan Williams

   (ROANOKE) Services for the Rev. Dan Williams, 77, of Roanoke will be 
Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel, with the 
Rev. Frank Foster and the Rev. William Hendley officiating.   Burial will follow 
at Randolph Memory Gardens.
   Rev. Williams died Monday, April 17, at his home.
   Pallbearers will be Wayne Langley, Billy Henry, Gary Williams, Jerry Tapley, 
Freddy Tapley, Chris Ellis and Karey Williams.
   Survivors include his wife, Jewell Langley Williams of Roanoke; two sisters, 
Marion Langley of Huguley, and Frances Tapley of Alexander City; and several

   Rev. Williams was born May 1, 1928, son of Dolphus and Fannie Odessa Cotney 
Williams. He was a member of Roanoke Church of the Nazarene and had worked in 
maintenance at Candlewick Yarns. Rev. Williams pastored for many years in 
Alabama, including Rock Mills Church of the Nazarene, Union Hill in Oneonta; 
Aliceville Church of the Nazarene, Uniontown Church of the Nazarene and Sardis 
Church of the Nazarene.

   (NEWELL) Services for Vince Nobbley, 90, of Newell were Tuesday, April 18,

   Mr. Nobbley died Sunday, April 16, at Wedowee Hospital.
   Mr. Nobbley is survived by his wife, Adell Ballard Nobbley of Newell; one 
daughter, Ann Morrow of Carrollton, Ga.; two sons, Larry Nobbley of Woodland and 
Mike Nobbley of Newell; three sisters, Mattie Craft of Lanett and Ethel 
Willingham and Dot Allen of Woodland; five grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren.
   Pallbearers were Jeff Morrow, Tim Wade, Steve Nobbley, Terry Allen, Kenneth 
Wortham and Gerald Nobbley.
   Mr. Nobbley was born Dec. 1, 1915, son of Luther and Arizonia Britt Nobbley. 
He was a member of Caver's Grove Christian Church and had worked as a heavy 
equipment operator for the Randolph County Commission. Mr. Nobbley was preceded 
in death by one grandson, Scott Nobbley; three brothers and four sisters.

   (ROANOKE) Services for Terrell M. "Punk" Robinson, 53, of Roanoke were

   Mr. Robinson died Sunday, April 16, at Bethany House in Auburn.
   Survivors include one daughter, Shasta Robinson of Atlanta; his father, Chess 
Robinson of Roanoke; and lifelong friend, Wendell "Tootie" Williams.
   Pallbearers were Mike Parmer, Rick Robinson, Bobby Robinson, Matt Hester, 
Jason Hester, Jimmy Robinson and Kenneth Mitchum.
   Mr. Robinson was born Nov. 19,1952, son of Terrell M. Robinson Sr. and Myra 
Nell Fincher Robinson. He was of the Church of God faith and was retired as 
store manager of Winn Dixie of Roanoke and was a real estate investor. Mr. 
Robinson was preceded in death by his mother, Myra Robinson.

Judy Ann Robinson Turner

   (BOWDON, Ga.) Judy Ann Robinson Turner, 59, of Bowdon, Ga., died Thursday, 
April 13, 2006, at her residence.
   Mrs. Turner was born in Cleburne County on Oct. 14, 1946, the daughter of the 
late Arnold Andrew and Agnes Whitley Robinson. She was a member of Union Hill 
Baptist Church. Mrs. Turner was a 1965 graduate of Ranburne High School, a 
graduate of Jacksonville State University, and a schoolteacher at Ranburne High 
School until her retirement in 2000. She had recently been employed at the 
Butler Spinal Clinic in Bowdon.
   Mrs. Turner is survived by her husband, Donald Turner of Bowdon; and one 
daughter, Tracy Scherer of Birmingham; five brothers, Gerald Robinson of Heflin, 
Harlan Robinson of Wedowee, Raymond Robinson of Albany, Ga., David Robinson of 
Choccolocco and Larry Robinson of Ranburne; and one sister, Gail Loveless of 
Ranburne survive her.
   Funeral services for Mrs. Turner were April 16 at 4 p.m. at Bowdon Baptist 
Church. The Rev. Kit Carson officiated. Judy McWhorter and Tim Smith offered 
eulogies. Brent Turner and Tammie Johnson provided the music and accompanied by 
Susan Gibbs on the piano.
   Interment followed the service at the Bowdon City Cemetery. Serving as 
pallbearers were be Tim Smith, Fred Lovvorn, David Loveless, Mark Loveless, 
Jamie Turner and Jacob Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be her special friends 
and present and past co-workers.

Martha Whitten Jones

   (ANNISTON) Services for Martha Whitten Jones, 80, of Anniston were Saturday, 
April 15, 2006, at 10 a.m. at Brown & Kughn Memory Chapel with the Rev. Sonny

   Mrs. Jones died Wednesday, April 12, at Cleburne County Nursing Facility.
   She is survived by one son, Stanley C. "Stan" Jones Jr. of Anniston; two 
grandchildren; one sister, Mary Wise of Pensacola, Fla. Her husband, Stanley C. 
Jones Sr.; parents, Grady and Ina Whitten; and a brother, Thomas P. Whitten, 
preceded her in death.
   Mrs. Jones was a native of Randolph County, where she lived during her early 
life and moved to Calhoun County in 1943. She retired from the Anniston Army 
Depot, where she was a registered nurse for 30 years and formerly worked for 
five years at Anniston Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Jones was a member of the St. 
Mark United Methodist Church and the Henry Ford Sunday School Class.
   Pallbearers were Jim Hinton, Scott Shiflett, E.B. Fletcher, Tip Sheffield, 
Carey Sikes and Jimmy Snider. Honorary pall-bearers will be members of the Henry

Clinton C. Smith

   (LAGRANGE, Ga.) Clinton C. "Clint" Smith, 83, of LaGrange, Ga., died Monday, 
April 10, 2006, at Hospice LaGrange.
   Mr. Smith was born April 10, 1923, in Randolph County, son of the late Thomas 
M. and Mattie Carpenter Smith. He was a U.S. Army-Air Force veteran of World War 
II, having served in England with the 8th Air Corps and was proud of his service 
in "The Great War." He had lived in LaGrange for most of his life and retired 
from Industrial Metal Works and worked for Newberry Metal Works. Mr. Smith was a 
member of Union Lodge #43 Free and Accepted Masons in Lake Placid, Fla., and 
Union Lodge #43 Free and Accepted Masons in West Point. He served eight years on 
the Lake Placid Town Council and the West Point City Council in the early 1960s.
   Survivors include his wife, Allene Smith of LaGrange; children, Patti Hamil 
of Dawsonville, Richard Patterson and Tommy Fincher of LaGrange, Ken Fincher of 
San Antonion, Texas, and Mary Howe of Guntersville; one brother, Herbert Smith

   Mr. Cofield died Saturday, April 22, at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika.

   Born Oct. 27, 1920, in Randolph County, Mrs. Potts was the daughter of the 
late Kate Keeble Swann and John W. Swann. She was a retired employee of 
WestPoint Stevens Fairfax Mill. Mrs. Potts was preceded in death by her husband, 
Wyatt Potts, and her daughter, Sherry Kent. She was a member of Fairfax First

James Marvin Bailey

   (VALLEY) James Marvin Bailey, 79, of Valley died Thursday, April 20, 2006, at 
his residence.

   Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Dorothy Bailey; two sons, Don Bailey of 
Newnan, Ga., and David Bailey of Huguley; his brother, Bill Bailey of Fairfax; 
and eight grandchildren.
   Born Aug. 23, 1926, in Randolph County, Mr. Bailey was the son of the late 
Lizzie Rainey Bailey and Thomas Newton Bailey. He was a retired employee of 
WestPoint Stevens with more than 46 years of service with the company. Mr. 
Bailey was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army. He enjoyed life with his 
wife for 62 years and was a wonderful, devoted father to his three sons. Mr. 
Bailey was very active during his retirement and stayed busy by assisting his 
sons at their homes, traveling, fishing and just enjoying life. He was a charter 
member of Fairview Baptist Church and was a member of the Fairfax Golden Age

   Mr. Bailey's family respectfully declines the honor of flowers and asks that
