O. J. Hodnett and Rev. Willie Brasher officiating. Burial was at Randolph Memory Gardens. Mr. Johnson died Wednesday, June 30, at his residence. A Randolph County native and lifelong resident, he was born June 30, 1930, son of Joseph Earnest Johnson and Sally Beatrice Fincher Johnson. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Randolph County. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Janet Hodges, Mrs. Charlotte Overton, Mrs. Sharon Davis, Mrs. Shirley Bennett and Mrs. Shelia Vowell, all of Roanoke; a son, Mark Johnson of Roanoke; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Adcock of LaFayette and Mrs. Josie Pearl Daniel and Mrs. Barbara Ann Akins, both of Roanoke; a brother, Tom L. Harold Bonner officiating. Mrs. Lee died Friday, July 2, at Briarhill Nursing Home in Alabaster. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Lee was born Jan. 23, 1909, daughter of John Thomas and Kate Holliday Hudson. She was a homemaker and a member of Lebanon Christian Church. Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank P. Lee; and a sister, Mrs. Bernice Sheppard. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mary Awbrey of Alabaster and Mrs. Nancy L. Bailey of Columbus, Ga.; three sisters, Mrs. Ferrell Cofield of Donaldsonville, Ga., Mrs. Terrell Pounds of Loachapoka and Mrs. Myrtice Bartlett of Roanoke; three brothers, Handley Hudson and Waymon Hudson, both of Standing Rock, and John Tom Hudson of Roanoke; four granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Clark Thomas Head of Friendswood, Tex., born Feb. 25, 1934 to Clark and Mary Phillips Head in Roanoke, Ala., died July 4, 1993. A memorial service was held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, at Forest Park East. The Rev. Mr. Head resided in LaGrange, Ga.[,] prior to enlisting in the US Air Force and moving to San Antonio, Tex. He earned a BA degree in sociology from Hardin-Simmons University and a master's degree in religious education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Over the past 35 years he served as a staff member of seven Baptist churches in Texas. His ministry in the last few years was extended as he founded Personal Management Resources, through which he conducted grief seminars, support groups, and individual counseling. He worked with approximately ten funeral homes in the local area ministering to families who often had no pastor or church affiliation. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Castles Head; children Tommy Head of Houston, Mark Head of Houston and Janna Head of Friendswood; one granddaughter; brother Phil Head of San Antonio; and sister Nancy Head Vickery of Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. Gamble was born December 24, 1908, in Glenn, Ga., son of the late James G. Gamble and Mary L. Watson Gamble. Mrs. Harris, a native of Tallapoosa County, Ala., was a retired school teacher, having taught in Tallapoosa and Randolph counties in Alabama and Troup County in Georgia during her 40-year career. She was a member of Roanoke First United Methodist Church, Randolph County Historical Society, Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, Alabama Association of Retired Teachers, American Association of Retired Persons and Auburn Alumni Association. Mrs. Foerster died Monday, July 12, at Traylor Nursing Home in Roanoke. A Butler, Ala., native, Mrs. Foerster was born Dec. 15, 1893, daughter of Walter L. Gray and Annie Breitling Gray. She attended Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, and was a founding member of Grace Methodist church in Mobile, and a member of the Eastern Star, and a former postmistress at Butler. Her husband, G. E. Foerster, preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jean F. Ford of Roanoke and Mrs. Louis F. Astumian of Birmingham[;] five grandchildren[;] six great-grandchildren[;] and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Clark Memorial Funeral Service of Roanoke. __________ James Mark Wellborn (ROANOKE) Funeral services for James Mark Wellborn, 80, of Roanoke will be will be [sic] Thursday, July 29, 1993, at 11 a.m. from Corinth Christian Church with Revs. Don Paulson and Gold Cofield officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Wellborn died Monday, July 26, at Randolph County Hospital. A former resident of Wadley, Mr. Wellborn was born May 30, 1913, in Randolph County, son of James Warner Wellborn and Mary E. Windsor Wellborn. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans Commanders Club and worked as a carpenter and was a member of Southside Baptist Church. His wife, Goldie Knight Wellborn, preceded him in death. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Gail W. Hightower of Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. Ann W. Kerlin of Fayetteville, Ga.; three brothers, Morgan Wellborn of Ashland, Arthur Wellborn of Tampa, Fla., and David Wellborn of Peachtree City, Ga.; and six grandchildren. The family will be receiving friends from 8 until 9, Wednesday, July 28. Members of the family request that any memorial contributions be made to the Corinth Cemetery Fund, Corinth Fire Department or the charity of one's choice. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour, beginning at 10 [a.m.] the day of the funeral service. Quattlebaum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. __________ Glenn Alan Lipham (WEDOWEE) Glenn Alan Lipham, 27, of Rt. 1, Wedowee, died Monday, July 26, 1993, in University Hospital, Birmingham, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be at 2 [p.m.] Wednesday, July 28, at Union Hill Congregational Methodist Church, with Rev. Bobby Jones, Rev. Dorsey White and Rev. Keith Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Lipham is survived by his parents, Rev. and Mrs. Earnest Lipham of Wedowee; two brothers, Steve Lipham and Greg Lipham of Wedowee; one sister-in-law, Ann Lipham of Wedowee; and three nephews, Brent, Johnathan and Jeremy. Pallbearers will be Scott Rollins, Jack Sheppard, Doug Sheppard, Robert Sutton, Joey Fields and Guy Vanderwelt. Honorary pallbearers will be Handy TV and Appliance employees. Mr. Lipham was a native and lifelong resident of Randolph County. He was employed with Handy TV and Appliance in Anniston as an electronics technician. He attended Liberty Hill Congregational Methodist Church. Mr. Lipham will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. Funeral services for Mattie Lee Bickers Huckeba, 85, of Bowdon, Ga., were Monday, July 26, [1993,]at 1 p.m. from Potash Church of God, with Rev. Dennis Robinson officiating. Burial was at Potash Cemetery. Mrs. Huckeba died Friday, July 23, at Bowdon Area Hospital. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Huckeba was born April 26, 1908, and lived in Roanoke for 24 years before moving to Georgia. Survivors include her husband, Howard Huckeba of Bowdon; two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Chapman of Cleveland, Ga., and Mrs. Rosetta Garman of Doraville, Ga.; five sons, James Bickers of Forest Park, Ga., Nathan Bickers of Union City, Ga., and Herbert Bickers, Ralph Bickers and Olen Bickers, all of Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs. Vera Richardson of Roanoke and Mrs. Icelene Harmon of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Ford Wood of Pensacola, Fla.; and several grandchildren.
