Cofield (NEWELL) Graveside services for Loveless D. Cofield, 78, of Newell will be Wednesday, May 4, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tim Craft officiating. Mr. Cofield died Monday, May 3, at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center, Anniston. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Moore Cofield; three daughters, Judy Dianne Cofield of Wedowee, Nancy Lynne Barrett of Newell and Brenda Jane Grant of Wedowee; three sons, Larry Duvo Cofield, Randall Eugene Cofield and Roy Brandon Cofield, all of Newell; three sisters, Isabella Gentry of Fort Payne, Marie Brown of Roanoke and Barbara Barker of Oxford; and two brothers, Billy Cofield of Newell and Taft Cofield of Albertville. Services for Christian Kass Hamner, age 9, of Ashburn, Ga., were Friday, April 30, 2004, at Ashburn United Methodist Church, with burial at Greenlawn Cemetery in Waycross, Ga. He died Sunday, April 25, in Thomasville, Ga. Master Hamner was born in Ware County, Ga., and had resided in Ashburn for the last three years. He was a thirdgrade student in his mother's classroom at Turner County Elementary School in Ashburn. A young man who loved to read and draw, he loved playing soccer, basketball and baseball with the Ashburn Turner County Recreation Department. He loved his hobby of trading cards with his friends. He was a member of the Ashburn Methodist Church Children's Choir. He is survived by his parents, Lee and Wendy Spatola Hamner, and one brother, Hampton Hamner of Ashburn, Ga. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Joe Spatola and Larry and Anne Barber, and his maternal great-grandmother, Theresa Spatola, all of Waycross, Ga., and his paternal grandparents, Lewis H. and Marion Hamner of Roanoke. Survivors include his parents, Terry and Denise Loveless of Newell; one sister, Samantha Scott of LaGrange, Ga.; one brother, Justin Loveless of Newell; his paternal grandparents, Garland and Faye Loveless of Newell; his maternal grandparents, Charles and Virginia Hiett of Heflin; and great-grandmother, Myrtice Loveless of Newell. Mr. Daniel was born in Randolph County on May 2, 1941, son of the late Robert C. and Mattie Lou Stillwell Daniel. He was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church, an electrician at Southwire Company, a past councilman for the City of Ranburne for several terms, and a former member of Ranburne Rescue Squad. Survivors include his wife, Betty Teague Daniel of Ranburne; three daughters, Teresa Taylor of Ranburne, Debra Folds of Carrollton, Ga., and Kim Daniel of Ranburne; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Barry Daniel of Newell; a nephew and two nieces. Survivors include one son, Horace McLean Holderfield Jr.; and one granddaughter, Karen Ann Holderfield. Mrs. Smith was born in Bell County, Texas, reared in Heard County, Ga., and resided in Chambers County for 66 years. She graduated from Handley High School in 1929 and the registered nursing program of University Hospital in Birmingham in 1933. She was employed in Roanoke as a registered nurse, initially by Dr. Andrew J. Gay at the Knight Sanatorium and later by Dr. G. W. Bonner in his private hospital. Following a required course in public health education and training at the Sisters of Charity Hospital in New Orleans in 1951, Mrs. Smith was employed as one of the two public health nurses for Randolph County until her retirement in 1972. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church at Welch in Chambers County. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Horace McLean Holderfield Sr. and William Frank Smith.
