Burial was in the adjoining chruch cemetery. Mrs. Lovvorn died Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Wedowee Hospital. She was born in Randolph county on April 9, 1907, daughter of Warren Z. and Esther Lovvorn Meadows. She was a homemaker and a member of Herren's Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E. Lovvorn. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Clyde Stewart of Woodland and Sara L. She had been a Columbus resident for more that 50 years and was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church. Mrs. Moncus was preceded in death by her husband, Drannon Jackson Moncus. Services for retired U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. George W. Daniel, 79, of Hattiesburg, Miss., were at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at Parkway Heights United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Willis Britt and Bernard R. Walton officiating. A family testimony was presented by his grandson, the Rev. George James. Burial was at Roseland Park Cemetery with full military honors. Mr. Daniel died Saturday, Nov. 10, at his residence. Mr. Daniel was a native of Woodland, Ala., one of 16 children born to the late Marcus L. and Lucy Bryant Daniel. He attended Woodland High School and lettered in baseball and basketball. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 379th Infantry and receiving the Bronze Star. He later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and retired in 1969. He also retired from Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. He was a life member of American Legion Post 24 and VFW Post 3036. He was an active member of Parkway Heights United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mollis S. Daniel of Hattiesburg; two daughters, Beverly C. West and Jennifer R. Mr. Gray was born in Randolph county on June 6, 1915, son of the late Frances Phillips Gray and Thomas Luther Gray. He had retired from West Point Foundry and was a retired pastor of Shawmut Christian Church, where he remained a member. He served as chaplain for the Valley Senior Center and was active in the prison ministry. He served as interim pastor in the Southern Christian Conference. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Cofield Gray; two daughters, Kathy Duffey of Valley and Janice Irvin of Glendale, Ariz.; two sons, Daryl Gray of Valley and William Gray of Anderson, S.C.; six sisters, Ethel Carson, Winifred Tullis and Frances Taylor of Wadley and Ruth Taylor, Joyce Maddox and Adele Moon of Valley; a brother, Leon Gray of Valley; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A native of Carroll County, Ga., Mrs. Rampy was born April 24, 1916, to the late Samuel L. and Dora Yates Smith. She had retired as a supervisor of Bremen-Bowdon Investment Co. and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Rampy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rampy on Sept. 2, 1987. The son of the late James William and Eugenia Benford Ward, Mr. Ward was born Sept. 29, 1914, in Randolph County. He was a retired merchant having owned the Rock Store. Mr. Ward was a member of Bethlehem Campground United Methodist Church and was the pianist and choir director and taught singing school for many years. He is survived by two sons, Dwight Ward of LaFayette and Jerry Ward of Bowdon; a daughter, Ima Jean Hester of Lanett; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Spruill Ward on June 24, 2001. Also preceding him in death were six brothers, Henry Ward, William Ward, Albert Ward, Jeff Ward, Cicero Ward and Sanders Ward; and two sisters, Alma Ward Wiggins and Fannie Mae Lovvorn. Dr. Billy Mobley and the Rev. Pat Pearce officiating. Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery. Mr. Spivey died Thursday, Nov. 15, at his residence. A Roanoke native, Mr. Spivey was born April 21, 1930, the son of the late H. M. and Mattie Ethel Radney Sr. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday school class. Mr. Spivey was a former executive with Burlington Industries and a retired executive of Shuford Mill, having served 22 years with Shuford Mill Credit Union. He was a veteran of the Korean War and the U.S. Air Force. A 1956 graduate of Auburn University, Mr. Spivey was a member of Phi Psi Lamba fraternity, Phi Kappa Phi and Lake Hickory Country Club. He was an Eagle Scout and past president of Catawba Springs Property Owners Board of Directors.
