  Mrs. Black, 78, of 40 Mansion Blvd. died Tuesday morning, Nov. 15, 1983, in 
the home of her son, Gerald, of Ross, Calif.
  Surviving are two sons and four grandchildren.
  Her husband, Ray M. Black, died Aug. 17, 1977.
BLACK - Services for Edna Florence Black of 40 Mansion Blvd. Will be private.  
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the American Heart Association 
or your favorite charity.

BURKHART, Margie J. "Maggie," 1992

MARGIE J. BURKHART
  Ms. Burkhart, 38, of 819 St. Joseph St., Gallitzin, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 
1992, at Mercy Hospital, as a result of injuries suffered in an automobile 
accident at 1:40 p.m. Thursday on Route 4002, Sugar Run Road, about three miles 
west of Route 764.
  Known as Maggie, she was born Sept. 21, 1953, in Altoona, the daughter of 
Howard and Ruby (Howell) Burkhart.
  Surviving are three children:  Sean, Annie and Joseph at home.
  Also surviving are her father of Lancaster, mother of Gallitzin, and two 
sisters:  Kathy Hamilton of Amherst, Ohio, and Lois Kos of Gallitzin.  Also 
surviving are several nieces and nephews.
  Ms. Burkhart was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Gallitzin.
  She was also a member of Gallitzin Sportsmen Club.
  Ms. Burkhart was a 1971 graduate of Penn Cambria High School.
  Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Lenz-Gibbons Funeral Home, 
Gallitzin.
  Burial at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Gallitzin, by the 
Rev. Bernard Grattan. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

CAMMAROTO, Caterina (CAMMAROTO), 1990

CATERINA CAMMAROTO
  Mrs. Cammaroto, 95, of Spruce Creek died at 10:40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 
1990, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, after an extended illness.
  She was born Jan. 6, 1895, in Messina, Sicily, the daughter of Angelo and 
Nunzio A. (Grosso) Cammaroto, and July 20, 1920, in Sicily, married Vincenzo 
Cammaroto.
  Surviving are her husband, two children:  Carmelo of Bradford and Carmela 
Leidy, at home; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
  Mrs. Cammaroto was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Tyrone.
  There will be no public visitation.
  Arrangements by the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Tyrone.
CAMMAROTO - The funeral of Caterina Cammaroto of Spruce Creek will be held with 
a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 
Tyrone, by Monsignor Richard J. Walsh.  Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Tyrone.  
There will be no public visitation.  Arrangements by Richard H. Searer Funeral

ANGELENA CARPENETO
  Miss Carpeneto, 90, of Epworth Manor, Tyrone, formerly of 701 W. 16th St., 
Tyrone, and Bellefonte, died at 11:17 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 1992, at Tyrone 
Hospital, following an extended illness.
  She was born Oct. 6, 1901, in Bellefonte, the daughter of Louis and Erminia 
(Rimini) Carpeneto.
  Surviving are a sister, Rose Gutteron of Cross Plains, Wis., and several 
nieces and nephews.
  Miss Carpeneto was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Bellefonte.
  Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Richard H. Searer Funeral 
Home, Tyrone, where a Christian wake service will be held at 8 p.m.
  Burial at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church, Bellefonte, by Father 
James Conrad.  Interment at church cemetery.

CHERRY, Bertha M. (KLINGENSMITH), 1902

BERTHA M. CHERRY
  Mrs. Cherry, 72, of 716 W. 7th Ave., Juniata, died unexpectedly at 1 p.m. 
Friday, May 9, 1982, in her home.
  Mrs. Cherry retired from Brumbaugh Grocery Store in 1948, after 35 years' 
service.
  She was born Sept. _, 1900, in Westville, the daughter of Floyd I. and 
Elizabeth (Haynes) Klingensmith, and June 19, 1948, in Martinsburg, married 
Vernon L. Cherry who died July 12, 1977.
  Surviving are two sisters and a brother:  Mrs. Genevieve Wise and Fred of 
Canton, Ohio, and Mrs. Gladys Snyder of Napa, Calif.
  Mrs. Cherry was a member of Grace Brethren Church, Juniata.
  Friends will be received from noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and noon to 
1:30 p.m. Monday in the Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Juniata.  Interment in Blair 
Memorial Park, Bellwood.

CLIFFORD, Clair Lester, 1936

SHOPMAN-FIREMAN EXPIRES SUDDENLY
  Clair Lester Clifford, aged 49, of 1010 Eighteenth street, a well known member 
of No. 7 fire company and employe of the electrical shop of the Altoona works, 
died suddenly at 2:15 o'clock this morning at his home of a heart attack.
  He was taken ill last Friday noon but was apparently recovering when he was 
fatally stricken.
  Mr. Clifford was born in Altoona on Jan. 19, 1887, a son of Edward and Lavenia 
(Steel) Clifford, and had resided in the city all his life.  As a young man he 
was employed at the Stevens mortuary, later entering the service of the railroad 
company.  He served as second trick call driver of the No. 7 fire apparatus.
  On Dec. 12, 1906, he was united in marriage with Miss Ruth Treese.  Surviving 
are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. J. P. Hoover; one granddaughter, Ruth Ann 
Hoover, one sister and one brother, Miss Elsie Clifford of the Altoona hospital 
supervisory staff and Edward Clifford, also of the city.
  Mr. Clifford was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of the Junior Order, 
United American Mechanics.
  The body may be viewed at the Stevens mortuary.  The funeral will be held at 
the mortuary chapel Friday afternoon at 3:30, interment to follow in Alto-Reste.

MRS. LILLIAN M. DELOZIER
  Wife of Hampton Delozier, died at her home, 716 Hickory street, Hollidaysburg, 
at 9:30 o'clock last night.  She was born at Williamsburg on Sept. 3, 1884, the 
daughter of Jacob (deceased) and Mrs. Helen (Snyder) Hoffman of Mountaindale, 
who survives, along with the following children:  John M. Snyder, at home; 
Howard of Hollidaysburg, Mrs. Helen Kieb and Mrs. Frances Felty, both of 
Bloomfield, N.J., and Louise Isenberg of Virginia.  One sister, Mrs. Sylvia 
Ralston of Wilmerding, and one brother Charles E. Snyder of Altoona, two half-
brothers, Jean and Blair Hoffman of Mountaindale and three grandchildren.  She 
was a member of the Church of the Brethren at Hollidaysburg and was held in high 
esteem by a large circle of friends and acquaintances.  The remains may be 
viewed after Wednesday at the home where funeral services will be conducted at 2 
o'clock on Friday afternoon by her pastor, Rev. F. J. Byer.  Interment will be 
made in Riverview cemetery at Leamersville.

  Mrs. Dorothy M. Douglas, 56, Barnesboro RD 2, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1996, at 
Conemaugh Hospital, Johnstown.
  She was born Oct. 24, 1939, in Spangler, the daughter of Harry and Genevieve 
Abrams.  She married Jack B. Douglas.
  Mrs. Douglas was a member of Calvary Bible Church, Glen Campbell.
  Surviving are her husband; three sons:  Bryan of Smithfield, Va., Robert of 
Ivor, Va., and Theodore of New Derry; a daughter, Jeannine Cannon of Pittsburgh; 
three sisters:  Lea Konitsky of Elmora, Margaret Douglas of Indiana, Pa., and 
Mary Grumley of Punxsutawney; two brothers:  Joseph of Barnesboro and Art of 
Inverness, Fla.; and 12 grandchildren.
  Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. 
Thursday at Moriconi Funeral Home, Spangler.

MISS NELL FORD
  Who has many relatives and friends in Altoona, died at 7:15 o'clock last 
evening of a heart attack at her home, 627 South Aiken avenue, Pittsburgh, 
according to word received today by Miss Mary Baird of 309 Beech avenue.  She 
was prominently identified with the Catholic Daughters of America and the L. C. 
B. A.  The funeral will be held in the cathedral in Pittsburgh on Saturday 
morning at 9 o'clock, daylight saving time, and interment will be made in 
Calvary cemetery in that city.

MRS. MARY ANN GOLDEN
  Of 3911 Fifth avenue, died at her home at 8:25 o'clock yesterday morning.  She 
was born in Salemville on Nov. 2, 1851, a daughter of James and Sarah Lyons.  
Surviving are three daughters and one son, Mrs. Annie Hill and Mrs. Alma Limbert 
of the city, Mrs. A. H. Stevens of Pittsford, N.Y., and J. C. Golden of 
Baltimore, Md., and six grandchildren.  Mrs. Golden was a member of the New 
Enterprise Brethren church.  Funeral services will be held in the Salemville 
Brethren church at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon.  Interment will be made in the 
Berger cemetery.

Mr. Hejl, 59, of 140 Plainfield Ave., Metuchen, N.J., died at 6:15 a.m. Friday, 
Feb. 9, 1990, at J.F. Kennedy Medical Center, Edison, N.J., of an apparent heart 
attack.
  Mr. Hejl was employed as a product specialist at I.K.G. Borden Inc., Clark, 
N.J.
  He was born Oct. 3, 1930, in New York City, N.Y., the son of Alois and Anna 
(Penuska) Hejl, and Nov. 3, 1962, in Wilmington, Del., married Fern L. 
Gillaspie.
  Surviving are his wife and two sisters:  Helen Wachter of Bridgewater, N.J., 
and Mary Pinda of Fort Worth, Fla.
  Mr. Hejl was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Metuchen.
  He was also a member of the Metuchen American Legion.
  Mr. Hejl was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
  He received a business administration degree from Marietta College, Ohio, in 
1957.
  Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Mauk & Yates Funeral 
Home, Juniata.
  Interment will be made in Altoona.

  Wife of Charlton Hess of 1611 Thirteenth street, died at her home at 6 o'clock 
yesterday morning of a heart attack.  She was born in Coaldale on Sept. 17, 
1890, a daughter of Hezekiah and Rachel Colbert.  Surviving are her husband, two 
sisters and one brother, Mrs. Ada Ickes of Hollidaysburg, Mrs. Mary Decker of 
the city and Melvin Colbert of State College.  Funeral services will be held at 
the Bechtel funeral home, Williamsburg at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.  
Interment will be made in the Williamsburg Lutheran cemetery.

  Mr. Jones, 34, formerly of Country Manor Apartments, Duncansville, who was the 
Pennsylvania Easter Seal Poster Child in 1960, died at 11:55 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 
11, 1990, at Valley View Home, after an extended illness.
  He was born April 28, 1955, in Altoona, the son of Russell V. and Thelma M. 
(Walters) Jones.
  Surviving are his parents of Altoona and grandmothers:  Rachel Jones and 
Evalyn Walters of Altoona.
  Mr. Jones was a member of the First Church of God.
  He was named the Outstanding Youth of Community by the Kiwanis in 1967.
  Mr. Jones was a 1973 graduate of Altoona Area High School.
  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 10 to 11 
a.m. Thursday at the Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Juniata.
JONES - Services for Timothy R. Jones, formerly of Duncansville, will be held at 
11 a.m. Thursday at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, by Pastor Ken 
Smith.  Interment at Carson Valley Cemetery.  Friends will be received from 2 to 
4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the 
funeral home.  Timothy won the Ace Award upon graduation from high school.

  Mrs. Kuhn, 64, of 514 11th St. died at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 1990, at 
Altoona Hospital.
  Known as Beatrice, Mrs. Kuhn was born June 23, 1925, in Altoona, and married 
Paul J. Kuhn, who died in 1975.
  Surviving is a son, James T. of Altoona.

NEUGEBAUER, Mary (ERGLER), 1936

MRS. MARY NEUGEBAUER
  Of 508 Fifth avenue, widow of Adolf Neugebauer, who was fatally injured in a 
crane accident in the Juniata shops on Feb. 8, died at her home at 5:40 o'clock 
yesterday afternoon after having been ill for the past eight months.  She was 
born on Nov. 14, 1873, a daughter of Joseph and Josephine Ergler, and was united 
in marriage with Mr. Neugebauer on Aug. 27, 1895.  Surviving are seven sons and 
daughters, George, Margaret, Gertrude, Robert and Clarence, all at home, Leo T. 
of the city and Mrs. Mary Cornwell of Clarksburg, W. Va.

  Aged 56, a native of Altoona residing at 172 N. Oak Knoll, Pasadena, Calif., 
died at his home at 4:15 p.m. yesterday, after a brief illness.  He was a son of 
Edmund and Susan (McCalley) Olmes.  Surviving are his wife, four children, 
Miriam of Philadelphia, Michael, Mary and Susan in Pasadena, and three sisters, 
Mrs. Susan Miller, Mrs. Clara Schmidhammer and Mrs. Ethel Brandt of Altoona.  
Interment will be made in Pasadena.

JOHN PAUL O'NEIL
  Son of John K. and Esther (Cartwright) O'Neil of 507 Third street, Juniata 
died at the Mercy hospital at 9:30 o'clock last night.  He was born in the city 
on May 10, 1927, and was an only child.  Surviving are his parents.  He attended 
the McKinley grade school and the Trinity Lutheran Sunday school in Juniata, 
being known to his friends and schoolmates as Jack.  The body may be viewed at 
the home where funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon.  
Interment will be made in Alto-Reste cemetery.

ORNER, Dorothy Z. (ZIMMERMAN), 1976

  Of 312 E. Walton Ave., died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 1976, at home, 
following an extended illness.  Mrs. Orner retired as  a machine operator from 
Saf-T-Bak, in 1971.  She was born Oct. 21, 1904, in Altoona, a daughter of 
Thomas I. and Effie (Hesser) Zimmerman, and July 29, 1923, in Altoona was 
married to Clarence Orner, who died in 1927.  Surviving are four brothers and 
sisters, Mrs. Martha Wilson, with whom she resided, Edna of Altoona, James of 
Portland, Ore., and Darwin of Ridgeway, Mrs. Orner was a member of Salem United 
Church of Christ.  Friends will be received in the Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, 
Juniata, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow.

O'SHELL, Thomas, 1967

THOMAS O'SHELL
  Of Utahville, died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday in the Altoona Hospital, where he was 
admitted Feb. 9, after an extended illness.  He was born Feb. 2, 1893, at 
Irvona, son of Porter and Martha (Dillen) O'Shell, and married Tekla Wetzler.  
Surviving are his wife, three children, Thomas of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Mrs. 
Alberta McGarvey of Utahville and Mrs. Betty McCucker of Pittsburgh; 11 
grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Marie Fry of Lewistown.  Mr. O'Shell was a 
member of United Mine Workers local, American Legion and V. F. W., all of 
Coalport, and served with the Army during World War I in the San Mihiel and 
Meuse  -  Argonne offensive in France.  Friends will be received in the 
Greinaday Funeral Home, Coalport, until time of the funeral tomorrow.

CATHERINE OTT
  Of 202 6th Ave., died yesterday afternoon, Aug. 29, 1973, at Altoona Hospital 
after a lengthy illness.  She was born Feb. 6, 1885, in Altoona, a daughter of 
Patrick and Alice (Grady) McClain, and married W. Guy Ott, who died April 23, 
1965.  Surviving are five children, Calvin G., Alvin B. and Jeannine McMellan of 
Altoona.  Pearl Huger of Latrobe and Mary McDowell of Indiana, Pa.; seven 
grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Teufel of 
Aitch.  Mrs. Ott was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.  Friends will be 
received in the Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Juniata, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. 
tomorrow and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

  Of Roaring Spring RD, died at her home at 12:15 a.m. yesterday, Dec. 28, 1969, 
after a long illness.  She was born in Salemville April 12, 1902, a daughter of 
Isaiah and Lucy (Kagarise) Ebersole, and married George C. Over in Cumberland, 
Md., Nov. 2, 1920.  Surviving are her husband, two children, Mrs. Edna Dilling 
of Chester and K. Alton of Woodbury; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren 
and eight brothers and sisters, Hazen, Jacob, Mrs. Melda Clapper and Fred of New 
Enterprise, Roscoe of Saxton, Warden of Loysburg, Mrs. Lena Snyder of Pittsburgh 
and Mrs. Frieda Furry of Bradenton, Fla.  Mrs. Over was a member of the Woodbury 
Church of the Brethren.  Friends will be received in the Weaver Funeral Home, 
Woodbury, from 7 to 9 p.m. today, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and after 1 
p.m. Wednesday in the church.

JOHN J. SMELTZER
  Mr. Smeltzer, 66, of 2309 5th Ave. died at 4:20 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 1990, 
at Van Zandt VA Medical Center.
  Mr. Smeltzer retired as a carpenter from Leonard S. Fiore Inc. in 1983, after 
22 years' service.
  He was born Nov. 4, 1923, in Altoona, the son of John P. and Pauline Rose 
(DeTemple) Smeltzer, and June 30, 1973, in Altoona, married Charlotte Wertz.
  Surviving are his wife, four children:  Ralph and Logan, at home; and Allen 
and Yvonne Watt of Altoona; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
  Also surviving is a sister, Margaret Prough of Altoona.
  Mr. Smeltzer was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
  He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Scaglione 
Funeral Home.
SMELTZER - The funeral of John J. Smeltzer of 2309 5th Ave. will be held with a 
Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  
Interment at Calvary Cemetery.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 
p.m. Tuesday at Scaglione Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held 
Tuesday afternoon and Legion of Mary will recite Rosary at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

  Died suddenly at 6 o'clock last evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. 
A. Skagerburg, 608 South Fourth street, Bellwood.  She was born in Sweden on 
March 23, 1843.  Her husband, James Smith, died in 1898.  Surviving are two sons 
and one daughter, Charles A. Smith of Juniata, Edward of Fostoria and Mrs. 
Skagerburg, twenty-two grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Smith 
was a member of the Houtzdale Lutheran church.  Funeral services will be held at 
the Skagerburg home at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon.  Interment will be made in 
Logan Valley cemetery.

MISS ROSE WEIDLICH
  Of 1507 Twenty-ninth avenue, died at her home at 5 o'clock yesterday 
afternoon.  She was born in Altoona on June 24, 1900, a daughter of Joseph and 
Caroline (Kimmler) Weidlich.  Surviving are her mother and one brother, William, 
both at home, and two sisters, Miss Wilhelmine of New York city and Mrs. Cecelia 
Douglas of Altoona.  The body may be viewed at the home.  The funeral will be 
held Monday morning with requiem mass at 9 o'clock in the Cathedral of the 
Blessed Sacrament.  Interment will be made in St. Mary's cemetery.

  Mrs. Weise, 75, of Box 531, RD 1, died at 10:46 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, 1983, 
in Altoona Hospital, after an extended illness.  
  She was born April 4, 1908, the daughter of Charles E. and Catharine M. 
(Elvey) Cassell, and April 6, 1935, in Indiana, Pa., married Carl F. Weise.
  Surviving are her husband, a son, Curtis A. of Concord N.C.; 11 grandchildren 
and a great-grandchild.
  Also surviving are two sisters:  Elda C. Hardman of Scranton and Dora R. 
Dickey of Hollidaysburg.
  Mrs. Weise was a member of the First Lutheran Church.
  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the William 
G. Bigelow Funeral Home.
WEISE - Services for Emily M. Weise of Box 531, RD 1, will be held at 10:30 a.m. 
Friday in the William G. Bigelow Funeral Home, by the Rev. Glenn L. Stahl.  
Interment in Alto-Reste Park.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 
p.m. Thursday in the William G. Bigelow Funeral Home.
