CASSELBERRY, Edward J., 1954

CASSELBERRY - Edward J., 1714 Washington St., South Greensburg, died Wednesday 
night in Frick Memorial Hospital, Mount Pleasant, at 9:30 o'clock.  He was a 
retired Pennsylvania Railroad engineer and a member of the Brotherhood of 
Locomotive Engineers and Firemen of Cresson(?).  He had been a resident here for 
the past 19 years.  Surviving is a sister Miss Anita Casselberry, Linden, Ky., 
and a number of nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received at the Paul R. 
Seeman Funeral Home, South Maple avenue, where services will be conducted at 
2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon by Rev. Walter L. Greer, of the Church of God.  
Interment will be in _ales cemetery at Derry.  Paul Seeman, Greensburg, funeral 
director is in charge.

CULLISON, Nell (SOLLER), 1965

MRS. NELL M. CULLISON
Of 710 19th St., formerly of 1411 5th Ave., died unexpectedly in her home at 
8:30 a.m. yesterday [, 11/24/1965*].  She was born in Altoona on Sept. 17, 1884, 
a daughter of Michael and Anna (Kimmel) Soller, and married Ralph Cullison.  
Surviving are her husband, three step-daughters, Mrs. Dottie Smith, Mrs. Anna F. 
Drye and Mrs. Betty Brown, and two brothers, Leonard M. and H. Albert, all of 
the city.  She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and LCBA.  Friends 
will be received in the Stevens Mortuary from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow, 2 to 4 and 7 
to 9 p.m. Sunday.

CULP, Wilbur, 1971

WILBUR J. CULP
Of Roaring Spring RD 1, died in Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring, at 11:50 a.m. 
yesterday, Sept. 10, 1971.  He was born Jan. 30, 1903, in Goshen, Ind., a son of 
Jesse and Rosa (Kilian) Culp, and married Ethel Neterer on May 5, 1923.  He is 
survived by his wife, three children, Mrs. Margie Wagner of Schwenkville, Miss 
Opel at home, and George W. of Roaring Spring RD 1; four grandchildren, two 
sisters, Miss Wilma Culp of Goshen and Mrs. Lucille Snyder of New Paris, Ind.  
Mr. Culp was a retired farmer and a member of the Martinsburg Mennonite Church.  
Friends will be received in the Thompson Funeral Home, Roaring Spring, from 2 to 
10 p.m. tomorrow and after 11 a.m. Monday.

GARY PAUL CUMMINGS
43, of Lot 93, Willowbrook Mobile Village, Duncansville RD 3, died at 11:15 a.m. 
Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1980, in his home, after an extended illness.  He was born 
Nov. 4, 1937, in Summerville, the son of Paul E. and Ora (Glenn) Cummings.  
Surviving are his parents, with whom he had resided, and a sister, Cynthia L., 
at home.  Mr. Cummings was a member of the First Church of God, Portage.  
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.  There will be no viewing.  
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Plank & Stitt Funeral Home 
Inc., Hollidaysburg, by the Rev. Cecil C. Cook.  Graveside services at 2 p.m. 
Saturday in Pisgah Cemetery, Corsica, Jefferson County.

CUNNINGHAM, Frank C., 1980

FRANK C. CUNNINGHAM, 83, of 1330 Christopher St., Johnstown, died Saturday, Feb. 
9, 1980, in Memorial Hospital, Johnstown.  Mr. Cunningham retired as calendar 
room foreman from the Williamsburg Plant, West Virginia Pulp & Paper Co., in 
1961.  He was born March 2, 1896, in Beavertown, the son of Jacob and Rene 
(Snare) Cunningham, and married Grace Shultz.  Surviving are his wife, two 
children, Kenneth of West New York, N.J. and Mrs. Doris Cooper of Johnstown; 
three grandchildren, two great-grandsons and a brother and sister, Blandon of 
Warriors Mark and Minnie of New York City, N.Y.  Mr. Cunningham was a member of 
St. John's United Church of Christ.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 
to 9 p.m. today in the Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Johnstown. Graveside 
committal service at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Presbyterian Cemetery, 
Williamsburg.

ERMA L. CURRY
98, of 406 Walnut St., Hollidaysburg, died at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 
1980, in her home, after an extended illness.  She was born Oct. 8, 1881, in 
Frankstown, the daughter of John and Ida Gardner, and Nov. 17, 1903, in Altoona, 
married Joseph E. Curry, who died Oct. 19, 1962.  Surviving are two cousins.  
Mrs. Curry was a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Hollidaysburg.  
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the Plank & 
Stitt Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg.  Interment in Presbyterian Cemetery, 
Hollidaysburg.

CUSTER - Howard Irwin, 86, St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Johnstown, died 
July 28, 1967, at Healthwin Hospital, South Bend, Ind.  Born June 20, 1881, in 
Johnstown, son of William and Elizabeth (Keiper) Custer.  Preceded in death by 
parents.  Survived by widow, former Eleanora Ott, South Bend, Ind.; son, Dr. 
Edward Custer, South Bend, Ind., and daughter, Henrietta, wife of John Deegan, 
Huntingdon, Pa.; also 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  Retired 
foreman of Lorain Steel Co.  Member of Menoher Post 155, VFW; Johnstown Lodge 
538, F. & A.M. Veteran of Spanish-American War.  Friends received from noon to 3 
and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, where service 
will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, the Rev. Dr. Walden M. Holl.  Interment, 
Grandview Cemetery.

HARVEY KAGARISE	
  Formerly of Bellwood, died Oct. 14, 1973, at his home at 1124 Guilford St., 
Lebanon.  Mr. Kagarise, 46, was born in Woodbury, a son of Marvin and Florence 
(Ebersole) Kagarise, and married Carolyn Smith.  Surviving are his wife, his 
parents and two sisters and a brother, Carroll Ann of Altoona, Mrs. Donna 
Wallace of Delmont, and Jay, in Ohio.  Mr. Kagarise was last employed as a 
machinist for Toby's Lawn Service.  He was a member of the First Assembly of God 
Church, Cleona.  He had attended the Pennsylvania School of the Deaf in 
Philadelphia for 11 years and was a member of the Club for the Deaf in Altoona.

  Of 313 E. Southey Ave., who died unexpectedly yesterday morning in class at 
the Pennsylvania State University, where he was a graduate student, was born in 
Harrisburg on Aug. 1, 1940, a son of Philip J. and Mary Ann (Breznay) Kaiser.  
Surviving are his father, step-mother, the former Marian (Feeney) Schrenk; two 
brothers, Richard J. and John T., at home, and two step-brothers,  Edward L. 
Schrenk in the Army in France and Thomas L. of Niagara Falls, N.Y.  He was a 
member of St. John's Catholic Church, Lakemont. Friends will be received in the 
Stevens Mortuary after 7 p.m. today, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m. tomorrow.

KARLIE, Robert H., 1973

ROBERT H. KARLIE
Formerly of 1300 Pleasant Valley Blvd., died this morning, Nov. 9, 1973, at 
Valley View.  Mr. Karlie retired in January 1949 from the PRR after 45 years' 
service.  He was born Jan. 19, 1883, in Canton, Zurich, Switzerland, a son of 
Jean and Rosine Karlie, and on Nov. 12, 1905, married Frances Schuetz, who died 
July 22, 1959.  Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lydia Whitehouse of 
Hollidaysburg; five grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Hilda Schanz of Altoona.  
A niece, Miss Catherine Shultz of Altoona, was reared in the home.  Mr. Karlin 
was a member of St. James Lutheran church, Logan Lodge, F&AM, Harrisburg 
Scottish Rite bodies and Jaffa Shrine Temple.  He was a past president of the 
Swiss Rifle Club.  Friends will be received in the Barton-Stevens Funeral Home 
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

MARY JANE SHAW KARN
Of East Freedom, died in Albert's Nursing Home, Altoona, at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, 
Dec. 25, 1973.  She was born in Pavia, Bedford County, on Oct. 31, 1889, and was 
twice married, first to Charles Shaw, who died Oct. 18, 1951, then to Albert 
Karn, who died in 1961.  Surviving are six children, William of Duncansville, 
Mrs. Pearl Lingenfelter of East Freedom, Mrs. Martha Glass of Johnstown, Mrs. 
Grace Shultz of Williamsburg, Charles of East Freedom and Roy of Martinsburg; 14 
grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and four sisters and brothers, Mrs. Edwin 
Davis of Martinsburg, Mrs. Samuel Musselman of Ore Hill, Blair County, Mrs. 
Roland Burket of Trenton, N. J., and Michael Dively of New Enterprise, Mrs. Karn 
was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Newry.  Friends will be received 
in the Barefoot Funeral Home, East Freedom, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday 
and from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday.  Interment in Calvary Cemetery, 
Altoona.

  Of 1322 4th Ave., Duncansville, died last midnight in Garvey Manor, after an 
extended illness.  She was born at Duncannon on Sept. 24, 1885, a daughter of 
George and Laura (Meisendhelder) Seiders.  Surviving are four children, Mrs. 
Dorothy M. Mitchel and Mrs. Winifred Fick of Duncansville, John W. Vipond of 
Miami, Fla. and Mrs. Thelma Gagermeier of Altoona; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-
grandchildren, a brother, George of Arizona, and a sister, Bessie, of Seattle, 
Wash.  She was a member of the First Methodist Church, Juniata, and the Senior 
Citizens, Altoona.  Friends will be received at the Liebegott Funeral Home, 
Duncansville, from 2 to4 and 7 to 10 p.m. tomorrow.

MARY D. KAVALETS
  Of 911 N. Main St., Gallitzin, died at 6:20 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 1974, in 
Mercy Hospital.  She was born Dec. 8, 1913, in Cresson, a daughter of Michael 
and Anna (Rusko) Durbin, and married Michael Kavalets, who died May 28, 1972.  
Surviving are a son, Michael of Altoona, three grandchildren and five brothers 
and sisters, Michael and John of Cresson, Mrs. Helen Baluha, in New Jersey, Mrs. 
Susan Shumann, in Michigan, and Mrs. Anne Mishock of Altoona.  Mrs. Kavalets was 
a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Gallitzin.  Friends will be received in 
the Lenz Funeral Home, Gallitzin, from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 
p.m. tomorrow.

CARL V. KEARNS
  Of Eleventh Street Tower, died at 6:05 a.m. today, Jan. 5, 1974, at Altoona 
Hospital following an extended illness.  Mr. Kearns had served in the Army for 
eight years and in the Merchant Marines for 30 years.  He was born in Biddeford, 
Maine, on Aug. 30, 1907, a son of John and Mary (Zeigler) Kearns, and married 
Alma Fouse.  Surviving are his wife and eight step-children, Jesse C. and Paul 
C. Frederick, Mrs. Lillian Csato and Mrs. Elizabeth Blair of Altoona, Bernard C. 
Frederick of Mansfield, Ohio, Mrs. Laura Longstreth of Rio Linda, Calif., Mrs. 
Jeanne Ziegler of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. LeDonna Harris of Duncansville, and 
26 grandchildren.  Mr. Kearns was a member of the Altoona Bible Church.  Friends 
will be received in the Liebegott Funeral Home, Duncansville, from 7 to 9 p.m. 
tomorrow and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.

Of Walnut Creek, Calif., formerly of 2817 Pine Ave., died at 11 p.m. Saturday, 
Sept. 22, 1973, in Walnut Creek.  She was born Aug. 9, 1908, at Altoona, a 
daughter of Joseph and Ethel (Bickel) Hand, and married William Keckler.  
Surviving are her husband, two sons, John of Los Angeles, Calif., and Kenneth of 
Chubbuck, Idaho, three grandchildren, and ten brothers and sisters, Margaret, 
James, Paul, Michael and Thomas of Altoona, Mrs. Dorothy Swope of Rudolph, Ohio; 
Ray of Union City, N.J.; David of Philadelphia, Francis of Columbus, Ga., and 
Eugene.  Interment will be made in Walnut Creek.

Rd, died in an accident at approximately 11:55 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, 1978, in 
Houtzdale.  She was born Feb. 10, 1977, in Philipsburg.  Surviving are her 
parents, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Gorman of Rosebud and Mr. and Mrs. 
Glenn Muhollen Sr. of Fallentimber.  Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. 
today in the John J. Greinader Funeral Home, Coalport.

  Infant son of John J. and Deborah K. (Zeth) Kelley of Box 446, Duncansville RD 
2, was stillborn at 11:07 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 1980, in Mercy Hospital.  
Surviving are his parents, a brother, John Anthony, at home, and grandparents, 
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kelley and Mrs. Marie Zeth of Duncansville.  Interment was 
made today in Hollidaysburg.

JOHN W. KELLY
Of 1252 Lincoln Ave., Tyrone, died unexpectedly at 3:30 p.m. yesterday, Oct. 11, 
1973, at his home.  He was born in Port Matilda on May 8, 1912, a son of John 
and Martha (Cowher) Kelly, and March 10, 1934, was married in Hollidaysburg by 
the Rev. Stacey Capers to Katherine McCahan.  Surviving are his wife, two 
daughters, Mrs. Joyce Carnes of Terrinia, Italy, and Mrs. Judy Grove of Port 
Matilda RD; six grandchildren, and five brothers and sisters, George of McAlevys 
Fort and Mrs. Alice Simpson, Herbert, Mrs. Goldia Reese and Clarence of Port 
Matilda RD.  Mr. Kelly attended the First United Presbyterian Church, Tyrone, 
and was retired on disability as a salesman for Bayer Bros. of Tyrone, with 39 
years' service.  Friends will be received in the Johnson Funeral Home, Tyrone, 
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

ALPHA M. KEMRER
Of 327 6th Ave., Juniata, formerly of 5814 6th Ave., died at 5:17 p.m. 
yesterday, Oct. 4, 1973, at Altoona Hospital, where she was admitted Sept. 19, 
after a brief illness.  Mrs. Kemrer retired in 1950 as an elementary school 
teacher, having taught in Logan, Allegheny and Juniata Twps.  She was born March 
16, 1888, in Parsonville, a daughter of Thomas R. and Margaret (Terrell) Davis, 
and married Grover C. Kemrer, who died in 1960.  Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. 
Margaret Logan of Altoona; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a 
brother, Clifton M. of Altoona.  Mrs. Kemrer was a member of the Fifty-eighth 
Street United Methodist Church.  Friends will be received in the Stevens 
Mortuary from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

ELIZABETH KENNY
  Of 107 Cherry St., Sankertown, was dead on arrival at Mercy Hospital at 2:30 
p.m. yesterday, Feb. 20, 1974.  She was born July 7, 1895, in Spangler, and 
married Paul Kenny, who preceded her in death.  Surviving are three children, 
Mrs. Frances Borlie, Mrs. Vera Knorosky and Paul Jr. of Cresson; nine 
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  Friends will be received in the Lynch 
Funeral Home, Cresson, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow.

KEPNER, Clyde M., 1978

CLYDE M. KEPNER
  Of 3819 St. Barnabas Road, Suitland, Md., formerly of Altoona, died at 6 a.m. 
Friday, March 17, 1978, following a lengthy illness.  Mr. Kepner retired from 
the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.  He was born a son of William and Lilly 
(Krause) Kepner, and was married in Altoona to Rose Green, who died in 1962.  
Surviving are three children, Mrs. Mildred Tuck of Louisville, Ky., Mrs. Alberta 
Brown of Washington, D.C. and Mrs. Patrick Scott of Suitland, Md., with whom he 
resided; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. 
Alberta Bryant of Charleston, W. Va., and Mrs. Gladys McKinney of Erie.  Mr. 
Kepner was a member of the Masons.

CLARA E. KEYS
Of 307 S. 1st St., Bellwood, was dead on arrival at Willowbank Unit Center 
Community Hospital, Bellefonte, at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 1973.  She was 
born March 13, 1891, in Boggs Twp., a daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth (Shirk) 
McClincy and was twice married, first to Lewis E. Davidson, who died in 1938, 
and then to Andrew L. Keys in 1940.  Surviving are her husband, 12 children, 
Mrs. Viola Barnhart of Chase, Md., Mrs. Dorothy Neff of Howard RD, James J. and 
George C. Davidson of Wingate, Mrs. Marion Wanct of Lakeworth, Fla., Mrs. Paul 
Mann of Bellefonte RD 3, Mrs. Elinor Altman of Bellwood, Mrs. Betty Laird and 
Edward of Tyrone, Donald Keys of Lewistown, Mrs. Gavnell Walker of Hagerstown, 
Md., and Mrs. Esther Goss of Bellwood, 10 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 
14 great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Rebecca Eschenbach of 
Youngsville.  Mrs. Keys was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Bellwood.  
Friends will be received in the Wetzler Funeral Home, Bellefonte, from 7 to 9 
p.m. today and 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday.

  Of 110 7th Ave., Juniata, died at her home at 11 a.m. yesterday, after a brief 
illness.  She was born March 2, 1918, in Altoona, the daughter of Ira E. and 
Annis V. (Zeigler) Simpson, and married Ralph A. Kingston April 20, 1936, in 
Altoona.  Surviving are her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Annis E. Mitchell of 
Altoona, Mrs. Iretta F. Krise of Massena, N.Y., and Mrs. Elaine G. Ray of Irwin; 
eight grandchildren, and her father, of Altoona.  Mrs. Kingston was a member of 
Calvary Baptist Church.  Friends will be received in the Replogle Funeral Home 
from 7 to 10 p.m. tomorrow and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.

MARY A. KLESIUS
Of 1124 6th Ave., died yesterday, Dec. 26, 1973, at 10:25 a.m. after a brief 
illness at Hillview Nursing Home.  She was born July 17, 1894, in Altoona, the 
daughter of George and Anna Lieder.  Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Agnes Sheedy 
of Altoona, and a niece and nephew.  Miss Klesius was a member of St. Marys 
Catholic Church and Altar Society.  She was a music teacher.  She will repose in 
the Barton-Stevens Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.

1890, in Poland, a son of Casimier and Mary Ann Klisiewicz, and married Joan 
Adamczyk, who died July 2, 1965.  Surviving are eight children, Patrick of 
Gallitzin, Mrs. Mary Pinewaski of Chicago, Ill., Stanley of Ashville RD, Mrs. 
Anna Halerz and John of Altoona, Frank of Duncansville, Mrs. Sophie Yartin of 
Cresson and Mrs. Victoria Vinglass of Coupon; 30 grandchildren and 13 great-
grandchildren.  Mr. Klisiewicz was a member of the UMWA, American Union Polish 
Brotherhood of St. Joseph and St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Coupon.  Friends 
will be received in the Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 
p.m. tomorrow and Sunday.

KLOBETANZ, Gustav P., 1974

GUSTAV P. KLOBETANZ
  Of the Penn Alto Hotel, formerly of 1927 15th Ave., died in Hillview Nursing 
Home this morning, Feb. 9, 1974.  He was born Sept. 22, 1889, at Baden, Germany, 
son of Philip and Friederika (Gonter) Klobetanz, and married Josephine E. Huber 
in Altoona on June 14, 1916.  His wife died Aug. 21, 1959. Surviving are three 
children, Mrs. Ruth W. Weir of Endwell, N.Y., Norman O. of Altoona and Harold E. 
of Hollidaysburg; seven grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Marie Long of Altoona.  
Mr. Klobetanz retired from the PRR passenger shop at Seventh Street in 1956, 
after 48 years' service.  He was a member of the First Lutheran Church.  Friends 
will be received in the Replogle Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

KOELLE, Edward, 1973

EDWARD KOELLE
Formerly of 110 W. 11th Ave., Juniata, died at 6 p.m. yesterday, Nov. 7, 1973, 
at Valley View Home.  He was born in Altoona on Sept. 26, 1881, a son of George 
and Margueritte (Schuler) Koelle, and was married to Caroline Mae Limbert, who 
died June 11, 1970.  Surviving are two sons, Robert E. of Carson Valley and 
Norman R. of Juniata, and three grandchildren.  Mr. Koelle retired in 1941 as a 
carman for the PRR.  He was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, 
Juniata, and the Men's Bible Class.  Friends will be received in the Salome 
Funeral Home, Juniata, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.

HERMAN F. KOENING
Of 178 E. 5th Ave., Bellefonte died in West Park Manor Nursing Home, State 
College, following an extended illness.  He was born July 4, 1909, at Altoona, a 
son of Fredolin J. and Caroline (Noll) Koening, and in 1922 married the former 
Theresa Seprish of Bellefonte, who died in 1957.  Three children survive:  
Herman J. of Innsbruck, Austria, Mrs. Robert Schreffler of Bellefonte and 
Francis W. of Pittsburgh, along with a brother, Paul V. of Altoona, and two 
grandchildren.  Mr. Koening was a member of St. John's Catholic Church of 
Bellefonte, the VFW, American Legion, Undi___ Volunteer Fire Co. and Loyal Order 
of Moose, all of Bellefonte.  He served as a corporal in the Army during World 
War II with the 30th Depot Supply Squadron.  Interment was made today.

KATHERINE (ACHATZ) KOESTNER
  Formerly of Altoona, died Thursday, April 20, 1972, in Atlanta, Ga., where she 
resided for the last 20 years.  She was married to Peter Koestner, who preceded 
her in death.  Surviving are four children, Major James E. Sayer of Air Force 
Base, Mich.; Mrs. Anna Marie Shinn, Mrs. Thomas Stafford and Mrs. Paul 
Weingierd, all of Atlanta, Ga., 18 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and 
three sisters, Mrs. Anna C. Enzbrenner of Altoona, Mrs. Clair Nicol of Atlanta, 
Ga., Sister M. Annabilis, mother superior of the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor, 
Cincinnati, Ohio.  Mrs. Koestner was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, 
Altoona, LCBA.  She will repose at Barton-Stevens Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 
to 9 p.m. tomorrow.

DAVID KRISE
  Of Fallentimber, died unexpectedly at 10:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, 1978, in 
Altoona Hospital.  He was a retired coal miner and farmer.  Mr. Krise was born 
Aug. 8, 1893, in Frugality, a son of John T. and Mary E. (Rickard) Krise, and 
was thrice married, first to Ada Adams and then to Marie Davis, both of whom 
preceded him in death, and then on Aug. 8, 1939, in St. Mary Magdalene (sorry, 
end of this obit is not here).

HARTLEY G. KRISE
Of Fallentimber Rd, died at 8:55 a.m. yesterday, Oct. 2, 1973, in Altoona 
Hospital after an extended illness.  He was born in Fallentimber on Feb. 15, 
1917, a son of John C. and Estella (Hartley) Krise, and married Roberta Myers.  
Surviving are his wife, three children, Mrs. Joy Kaye McIntosh of Duncansville 
and John and Betsy Jo, at home, and two grandchildren, Mr. Krise, a former 
building contractor, was employed by the General State Authority.  He was a 
member of Fisk United Methodist Church, Coalport, F&AM Lodge; Scottish Rite 
bodies of Altoona, and the Odd Fellows.  He was an Army veteran of World War II.  
Friends will be received in the Troxell Funeral Home, Glasgow, from 7 to 9 p.m. 
today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.

GEORGE C. KURTZ	
Of 417 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, died at 1:15 a.m. today, Dec. 6, 1973, in J. C. 
Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, where he was admitted Tuesday, after an 
extended illness.  Mr. Kurtz was employed by State Department of Transportation, 
Hollidaysburg.  He was born Aug. 6, 1913, in Huntingdon, a son of Stewart L. and 
Aida (Geissinger) Kurtz, and married Mary S. Brewster.  Surviving are his wife, 
a son, Atty.  Stewart L. of Huntingdon, his father of Huntingdon and two 
sisters, Mrs. Neal Williams of Slippery Rock and Mrs. H. Paul Cook of 
Huntingdon.  Mr. Kurtz was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Huntingdon, 
and Jaffa Shrine Temple.  He served as treasurer of the Huntingdon County 
Republican Committee.  He was a veteran of World War II.  Friends will be 
received in the Brown Funeral Home, Huntingdon, after 7 p.m.

O'LEARY, Thomas F., 1971

Long Illness Proves Fatal For Physician
  Dr. Thomas F. O'Leary, 64, of Hazel Drive, Hollidaysburg, retired physician, 
died at 10:45 a.m. today, July 29, 1971, in Mercy Hospital, where he had been a 
patient since July 11, after a long illness.
  He was a graduate of Jefferson Medical College in 1931 and served on the staff 
of Ebensburg State Hospital until his health prevented.  Dr. O'Leary was a 
member of the American College of Chest Physicians and of the American Medical 
Association.
  He was born in Altoona on May 1, 1907, a son of Dennis J. and Catherine 
(Duffy) O'Leary, and was twice married, first to Helen O'Leary, who died in 
1944, then to Anna Katherine Hughes, who died in 1968.
  Surviving are a daughter, Miss Mary, at the home, and six brothers and 
sisters, Atty. Patrick E. of Hollidaysburg, Dr. James M. and Mrs. Eileen J. Dumm 
of Altoona, Sister Mary Dionysia, IHM, of Marywood College, Scranton, Sister 
Mary Brigid of Manhasset, N.Y., and Mrs. Rita Spellman of Drexel Hill.
  Two brothers, Msgr. Joseph D. of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Rev. 
John C. of State College, preceded him in death.  Dr. O'Leary was a member of 
St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg.
  Friends will be received in the Stevens Mortuary from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. 
tomorrow.  The funeral will be held Saturday with requiem mass at 10 a.m. in St. 
Mary's Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg.  Interment in Calvary Cemetery.

  Arthur R. Salyards, 59, Hollidaysburg, died Saturday morning, April 20, 1996, 
in Centre County, following an extended illness.
  He was born Aug. 12, 1936, in Hollidaysburg, the son of Ralph D. and Mary O. 
(Leopold) Salyards.  
  He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he served in Germany.
  Surviving are his wife, M. Virginia; two daughters, Theresa L. Crynock of 
Cresson and Tina of Colonia Heights, Va.; two sons, Arthur R. Jr. and Shawn, 
both of Kissimmee, Fla.; four sisters:  Helen Metzger of Hollidaysburg, Margaret 
Stevens of Cross Keys, and Anna Belle White and Mary E. Botteicher, both of 
Altoona; three brothers:  Ralph of Hollidaysburg, Elmer of Ebensburg and Robert 
of East Freedom; and 10 grandchildren.
  He was preceded in death by the following sisters and brothers:  Judy Hoover, 
Bertha Buchanan, Jerry M., Nelson, Howard, and Carl A.
  There will be no public viewing.

Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.

SPIELMAN, Herbert M., 1996

  Herbert M. Spielman, 90, 309 N. Mulberry St., Martinsburg, died Saturday 
morning, April 20, 1996, at the Homewood Retirement Center, Martinsburg.
  He was born April 9, 1906, in Jack's Corner, Hopewell RR 1, the son of William 
Woodrow and Cinderella (Fink) Spielman.  He married Margaret C. Aaron April 30, 
1949, in Winchester, Va.
  Mr. Spielman was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Martinsburg, 
where he was a member and treasurer of the St. John's Men's Brotherhood.  He was 
a former member of the Bedford Forge United Methodist Church, Bedford County.
  He retired in 1975 as a toll collector for the Ohio Turnpike Commission, 
Petersburg, 
Ohio, with nine years of service.  He was previously employed as a toll 
collector for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.  He was also owner and 
operator of a bus leasing company in Hopewell Township, Bedford County, and was 
a longtime dairy farmer in Bedford County.
  Mr. Spielman was a 1927 graduate of Replogle High School, Bedford County, and 
attended Juniata College, Huntingdon.
  He enjoyed gardening.
  Mr. Spielman was a former member of the Martinsburg Booster Association and 
the Enon Valley Odd Fellows.
  Surviving are his wife, one niece and three nephews.
  Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's United Church of 
Christ, Martinsburg, by Pastor L. Hugh Gowan.  Interment at Fairview Cemetery, 
Martinsburg.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at 
John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.  Mr. Spielman was the last of his 
immediate family.  Preceded in death by three brothers:  Vaughn, Roy and Lloyd, 
and a sister, Margaret Heaton.  On April 30, they would have celebrated their 
47th wedding anniversary.  The family prefers memorial contributions be given to 
the St. John's United Church of Christ Memorial Fund or the Homewood Retirement 
Center.
