WILLIAM W. AKERS, for many years a resident of Altoona and printer for the 
Altoona Tribune, died last Friday [21 Jan 1949] at his home in Beverly, N.J. He 
had been employed in the Baptist Publishing house, Philadelphia, since leaving 
Altoona, retiring from there. He was born in Burnham, near Lewistown, in 1869, a 
son of Rev. J. Benson and Henrietta (Galligher) Akers. Surviving are his wife, 
Mrs. Vernon (Salkeld) Akers; a foster son, William of Beverly, N.J., three 
grandchildren, and one sister, Miss Lizzie Akers of Bellwood. Mr. Akers was a 
member of the Methodist church and a 32nd degree Mason. Interment was made today 
in Beverly.
