MRS. RHODA AKERS,

One of Tyrone's oldest and best known residents, died at the home of 
her daughter, Mrs. Oliver Holly, 725 Washington avenue, yesterday 
afternoon of diseases incident to old age. She was born in Brush Creek 
valley, May 31, 1829, residing in that vicinity until fifteen years 
ago, when she moved to Tyrone to make her home with her daughter. She 
was a daughter of Ephraim and Osa Hixon. Surviving are these children:  
Mrs. Oliver Holly, Tyrone; Mrs. A. E. Carpenter of Texarkana, Ark.; 
James and Robert Akers of Baltimore; Mrs. C.A. Stoner and Mrs. J. V. 
Oster of Tyrone. The husband, J. Harvey Akers, preceded the wife to the 
grave about thirty years ago. One brother, Jared Hixon of Los Angeles, 
also survives. Mrs. Akers was a lifelong member of the Methodist church 
in Brush Creek valley. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. A. S. 
Fasick, pastor of the Methodist church, at the home of Mrs. Oliver 
Holly at 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. On Sunday morning the body will 
be taken to Akersville for interment.
