MRS. ANNIE AIKEN.

  At twenty minutes of 12 o'clock Sunday morning Mrs. Annie E. Aiken, wife of 
Mr. William Aiken, died at the family residence, 704 First avenue, of a 
complication of diseases.  She had been ill for two years and had practically 
been confined to her room for the past six months.
  The deceased was a daughter of Benjamin Shaffer and was born at 
Elizabethtown, Lancaster county, September 14, 1845, and was consequently 
aged 52 years and 5 days.  She was married September 12, 1871, in 
Elizabethtown, and then came to Altoona, where she has since lived.  Beside 
her aged father she is survived by her husband and one daughter, Olivia.  
Also by three brothers and one sister - John and Adam Shafffer, of 
Elizabethtown, and Benjamin Shaffer and Mrs. George W. Rhine, of this city.  
She was a faithful member of the Fifth avenue Methodist Episcopal church and 
died in the hope of a blessed immortality.  The funeral services will be 
conducted at the late residence at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon and will be 
conducted by Rev. W. McK. Reiley, her pastor.  Interment in Oak Ridge 
cemetery.
