Death of an Estimable Young Man.

Thomas Ahearn, a young man of about 20, the son of John Ahearn,
residing on Sixteenth avenue, west of Thirteenth street, died at his
father's house between 4 and 5 o'clock yesterday morning. The young
man was born in Philadelphia, but when quite small removed with his
parents to this city. At the time of his death he was serving an
apprenticeship in the railroad company's blacksmith shop, where he had
been employed for three years, and he was highly esteemed for his
excellent qualities by his foreman and fellow-workmen. For the past
two years Mr. Ahearn had been a sufferer from consumption, but he kept
his spirits bravely and never gave up hoping for the best until
yesterday, always maintaining that he felt very well. A little after 4
o'clock yesterday morning, however, says the Sun, after being confined
to his room for but a single day, he began to sink rapidly, and the
vital spark soon fled while a prayer lingered on the young man's lips.
He was the oldest of three sons and was idolized by his parents for his
beauties of character, they having fond hopes for his future. He was,
indeed, a model young man, and was a regular attendant upon the
services at St. John's Church, being also a member of the Sodality.
The funeral will leave the house about 8 o'clock on Saturday morning
and proceed to St. John's Church, where appropriate services will be
performed. The relatives and friends of the family are respectfully
invited to be present.
