SON OF FORMER LOCAL FAMILY IS REINTERRED

  T/Sgt. Joseph E. Adams, aged 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest B. Adams, 
former Altoonans who now reside at 1827 West Thirty-eighth street, Cleveland, 
O., was reinterred on Thursday.  Mr. and Mrs. Clair J. Adams of the city, 
uncle and aunt of the young veteran, attended the funeral.
  Sgt. Adams entered the army in Altoona Feb. 11, 1943, serving in the 
infantry for a period of 10 months and then transferring to the air force 
where he was an engineer-gunner.  He went overseas in January, 1945, and was 
killed in a plane crash in England April 5, 1945, after surviving 14 missions 
over Europe.
  He served with the 8th air force, 457th bombing group, 748th bombing 
squadron, and received the Air medal with two oak leaf clusters.  While in 
Altoona he was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament and 
attended Altoona Catholic High school.
  He was born in the city Sept. 14, 1924, a son of Ernest B. and Rose (Carr) 
Adams.  Surviving are his parents and the following brothers and sisters: 
Bernard, Mary Ann, Jane, Catherine, William, Maurice, Patricia and Barbara.
