DIEHL.

  Samuel N. Diehl, a popular young constable of Nanty-Glo, died at the 
home of his brother, Jonas Diehl, 319 Lexington avenue, at 7.15 o'clock 
last night of gangrene following an operation for appendicitis.  He was 
born at Irvona, April 10, 1887, the son of John C. and Margaret Diehl, 
and he is the first of a family of eleven to die.  For some years he 
had been the efficient constable at Nanty-Glo.  He was a member of the 
Methodist Episcopal church, P.O.S. of A., and I.O.O.F. of Nanty-Glo.  
His wife, Mrs. Cora Diehl, and three children, Edith, Walter and Howard 
survive, as do his parents, and the following brothers and sisters: 
Jonas, Altoona; Ward, Dana and Robert, of Irvona; Ralph, Melvin, 
Chester, Mrs. John Keemoor, and Miss Jane of Berwindale and Miss Evida, 
of Akron, O.  Brief funeral services will be held at the home of his 
brother at 8 o'clock this evening and tomorrow morning the remains will 
be taken to the home of his parents at Irvona where funeral services 
will be held Sunday morning.
