Death of Mrs. Emeline Chambers

Mrs. Emeline Chambers, one of Penfield's oldest residents, died last
Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Young, of Big Run, Pa., where
she had recently gone to make her home. Mrs. Chambers was in her seventy-
eighth year, having been born May 3, 1829. Her maiden name was Bliss. The
Bliss family were among the early pioneers in the Bennett's Branch valley. In
early life Emeline Bliss was married to Phillip Chambers. Of this union
survive three sons, Allen J., John and Charles; and five daughters, Clara
(Mrs. William McKay), Maggie (Mrs. Isaac Frantz), Phoebe (Mrs. John Young),
Minnie (Mrs. John Hockenberry), and Myrtle (Mrs. John Beyer). The remains were
brought to Penfield last Saturday and the funeral was held from the
Presbyterian church, Rev. R. Morrison officiating. Internment in Penfield
Cemetery.

Additional Comments:
Emeline Bliss Chambers was the daughter of Arnold Bliss and Freelove Lucore
Bliss. She was granddaughter of Rev John Bliss who fought with George
Washington in the Revolution and and his wife Reliance Babcock Bliss. Her line
traces back to the Warren family of the Mayflower.
