April 16, 1932 - April 10, 2006

Arzella Louise Barnett Montgomery, 73, of Salyersville, Kentucky,
died peaceably on the morning of April 10, 2006 at the Salyersville
Health Care Center, Salyersville, Kentucky, following a long, hard
battle with Alzheimer's and related health problems. Arzella is now
home with Jesus and suffers no more.

Arzella was born April 16, 1932, in the height of the Depression, to
Estill & Azza Havens Barnett. They were originally from Eastern
Kentucky, but migrated to Plymouth, Ohio.

Paternal grandparents were George and Arzella Dunn Barnett.
Maternal grandparents were William and Lula Ferguson Havens

Arzella was a strong, loving, and compassionate woman who taught
her daughters the value of being a Lady. She worked hard all her life
as a farmer's wife and raised ten devoted children. Arzella was one
of those special souls whom never had an unkind word for anyone
and was loved and admired by all who knew her. Arzella spent her
lifetime as an avid reader with an inspiring thirst for life. Her favorite
song was the old gospel tune "Amazing Grace". Arzella's face would
light up as she tapped her foot, singing along to every word. She
enjoyed the simple pleasures life could bring, visits with family and
friends, a good laugh, her garden and flowers, dining out or just
stopping at a good yard sale.

Arzella accepted the Lord and was baptized in faith on April 5, 1998,
becoming a member of God's Kingdom and of the Low Gap Church
of God. Arzella waded out into the muddy Licking River and was
washed white as snow.

Preceding her in death were her parents, five brothers, Ray, Willie,
Len, Homer and Estill Barnett Jr., two granddaughters, Shonda Gayle
Holbrook and Tracie A. Montgomery; one grandson, Jason Montgomery,
one daughter-in-law, Patty Joseph Montgomery, and one son, Silas Edward
(Eddie) Montgomery, whose tragic death in 1981 she mourned every day
for the rest of her life.

Arzella is survived by her husband, Ellis Montgomery, Spruce Pine,
Salyersville, KY. She is survived by nine devoted children, David (Mary)
Montgomery, Tampa, Fl, Diane (Danny) Parsons, Lexington, KY, John
(Annette) Montgomery, Montague, Mi, Larry (Sue) Montgomery, Butler,
Indiana, Wanda (Larry) Burton, Salyersville, KY, Ricky (Nanny) Montgomery,
Paintsville, KY, Bobby (Dana) Montgomery, Cypress TX, Azza Kaye (Gary)
Allen, Salyersville, KY, and Linda (Barry) Burton, West Liberty, KY.
Two step-daughters, Wanda Sue Montgomery, and Vivian Crandall of Florida,
Thirty grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
She dearly loved all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always
followed their progress through life with great interest.

Arzella is also leaving behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends,
and extended family that will greatly miss her.

The family would like to recognize and thank the Salyersville Health Care
Center, her Doctors, nurses and aids that cared for her these past six years.

Service will be at the Magoffin County Funeral Home, Salyersville, Kentucky
Pastor Johnny Reed, Officiating and Kenneth Barrnet .
Burial will be at the Ellis Montgomery Family Cemetery, Spruce Pine,
Middle Fork, Magoffin County, KY.
