Minix, Armel

June 30, 1925 - September 25, 2003


Armel joined his revered father and family in heaven after an extended
illness in St. Joseph Hospital, Ann Arbor, Mi, on Sept. 25, 2003

Beloved husband of Katherine Minix, devoted father of Gary Lee Minix,
Cynthia (Don) Messner of Dexter, & Armel (Donna St. Charles) Minix Jr.
of Jackson.

He is also the cherished grandfather of Melissa (Norma Sanders) Messner,
Jessica (Rod) Morson, Kathleen Messner, Shawn Minix, Austin Minix, and 
one great grandson Devon Messner.

Armel is also survived by his two brothers, Harold Minix and Don Minix,
And four of his sisters, Molly Montgomery, Monnie Barnett, Ann Williams
& Elva Dean Minix. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger 
sister, Betty Sublett.

Armel was born at home in Sublett, Ky, the first-born son of Jasper & 
Myrtle (Salyer) Minix. He was delivered into this world by his maternal grandmother Jahaza Montgomery- who was a granddaughter of 
Cherokee Golden Hawk Sizemore.

Armel joined the U.S. Navy on September 16, 1943. During his stint in
World War II he was a class II fireman on the USS Gurke and became a
Plank owner of that vessel. He served 2  years, then returned home 
and married Katherine, from Craft Creek, Ky on Oct. 18, 1947. They 
moved North looking for jobs in the automotive industry, settling in 
Chelsea, where they both found employment at Rockwell International, 
retiring after 34 years.

Armel loved to garden, hunt & fish and especially loved attending his
Grandchildren's sporting events. He was an active member of AA
in Chelsea. Armel became a devoted member of the Church Of Christ
in Chelsea in 1970, where he loved to serve our Lord's supper.

Armel will be terribly missed by all of us.

Funeral services will be held at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in 
Chelsea on Monday, Sept. 29 at 11:00am. Burial to follow at Oak
Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chelsea
Church of Christ Building Fund.
