Dr. James Edward Arnett

Dr. James Edward Arnett, 90, passed away May 24, 2003 at Rockynol 
Retirement Community.  Born in Gullett, KY, he had been an Akron 
resident most of his life where he retired as an educator from the 
Akron Board of Education. 
 
Dr. Arnett served society as an educator, a business executive and 
as a community service worker.  He was also an Army veteran of 
World War II.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dr. Helen Mae Vallich Arnett; 
son, James E., Jr., brothers, Parker B., Baxter B. and Easton and 
sister, Eva Lena Roark.  Survivors include his son, Jack (Peggy) Arnett 
of Newport News, VA; grandchildren, Traci A. (Chris) Pipkins 
and Jack Arnett, Jr., daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Arnett 
of Poquoson, VA; brother, T.J. Arnett; and sisters, Edna Mae Barnett, 
Minnie Rose Risner, Ollidene Caudill and Lydia Jane McFarland.

Funeral service will be held Thursday (May 29, 2003), 11 am at Silva 
Funeral Home/Rose Hill Burial Park.  Calling hours one hour prior 
to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the 
charity of one's choice.
