John Bachelor, a miner employed by the Beech Creek Coal and Coke
company, was struck by a fall of rock at the Ashcroft No. 13 mine at
Patton, Thursday morning of last week and instantly killed. There was
a cave-in in his room Wednesday night and on going to work Thursday
morning, Bachelor climbed to the top of the heap. While inspecting
the damage a huge rock which had been loosened by the cave-in struck
him on the head. He was married and leaves a wife and several
children.
