Ashland Progess May 13, 1943
The Colonial Funeral Chapel takes a full-page ad in this issue of The Progress
to invite the people of Clay County and surrounding territory to their formal
opening in Ash land on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 14-16. The Colonial
Funeral Chapel is a new business concern for Ashland and is located in the
Scarbrough building across the street from The Progress office. Mr. H. A.
Brooks, local representative of Luquire Insurance will be the active manager and
he states that calls will be answered day or night. The new concern will
maintain ambulance service, and a licensed embalmer will assist Mr. Brooks in
the operation of the business. Mr. Brooks says that the company will honor
Luquire policies and their stock will consist of a complete line of merchandise
necessary for the operation of a modern up-to-date funeral chapel.
Their place of business has been thoroughly renovated inside and the interior
and front have been given fresh coats of paint. Mr. T. L. Vinson, licensed
embalmer from the Anniston Chapel, spent several days here this week assisting
Mr. Brooks in getting ready for the opening. Experienced men will be present to
explain all details and give any information you may desire when you attend
their opening on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
