A very pleasant affair took place at the residence of Mr. Lewis G.
Fohl, in Butler township on the evening of New Year's day, it being the
marriage of Miss Mertie Fohl to Mr. Calvin Rice, of Menallen. The
bride and groom looked and were worthy of the many compliments passed
upon them. Miss Sadie Fohl, the sister of the bride, was bridesmaid,
and Mr. Harry Smith, of Troy, Ohio, acted as best man. After the
wedding the guests sat down to a sumptuous supper. A large number of
guests were present, many from a distance. The bride received a large
number of beautiful presents. During the evening the happy couple were
serenaded by the Biglerville Cornet band.
