Roanoke Leader
A Negro identified as Willie Culbertson was killed in LaGrange Friday afternoon. 
Two Negroes were lodged in jail in connection with the shooting. One of them, 
Oscar Thompson, is said to have warned the victim to stay away from his home and 
when the warning was disregarded the killing occurred. Thompson is a son of Henry 
Thompson well known Roanoke Negro preacher and well digger. Later information is 
that Oscar Thompson had a preliminary hearing in Police Court at LaGrange Monday 
and was released but was rearrested on a warrant sworn out by the dead man's 
brother and was to have another trial today.
