The Christian Advocate, September 5, 1851
Died, the 1st of July, [1851], in Troup co., [Georgia], near West Point, Mrs.
ELIZABETH C. BLYTHE, wife of Leroy Blythe, and daughter of J. and B. [Jonathan
and Bethany] Ward, in the 36th year of her age. She was the child of praying
parents; joined the M. E. C. in her 13th year, and was faithful to the end of
life. It was her lot to be afflicted many years, but she endured "as seeing
him who is invisible." She bore her last illness with Christian composure and
submission. The announcement that her end was near did not alarm her. She was
willing to die, although she regretted to leave her husband and children. When
Father Simmons spoke to her of her future prospects, she expressed a desire "to
depart and be with Christ." Her infant followed her immediately to the happy
Land. She leaves behind a mourning husband, weeping children, many dear
relatives and friends.

J. P. DUNCAN
