A Sudden Death

Mr. William Harbin who was born in this county in 1834, has been living in
Winston county, Alabama, for many years. On Saturday the 31st ult., while
burning off the woods, a dead tree blew down on him, falling across his back, he
being in a stooping position, breaking his back and dislocating some of his
limbs. Of these wounds he died in about one and a half hours. He was a good
citizen, loved by all his neighbors. He was a steward in the M. E. Church
South; which place he fliled (sic) a long while as a faithful laborer for the
cause of his master.

He was fully conscious of his approaching death and feared not the "beyond."
But with the faith given him to live by, he was borne through the "dark valley."
Mr. Harbin left an interesting family to mourn this great loss to them; while
they have the privilige (sic) to rejoice at his entrance upon the inheritance
purchased for him, by the Savior in whom his hope rested.
